    Those people who are selling the rainbow high dolls are gonna regret it in the future because we ain t getting another line with the amount of details these doll came with

      I totally agreed. I collected Bratz back in 2001. It spoke to me…same with LOL OMG dolls. It took me about three months with RH because I wasn’t fan with knee articulation, but the quality of clothes is there similar as Bratz and LOL OMG. I have these lines in my collection- they are not up for sale.

    I agree, the people selling their RH collections are the ones that only purchased them because it was popular and exciting at that time. Now they are over it, and moving on to something else. I don't feel that this is what doll collecting should be about. I have been a doll collector for many years. I only buy what I like and want to keep, because of this, I usually hang on to what I collect.

      Exactly! Like the beanie babies craze back then. I don’t feel that way either with my dolls.i am completist, but soon I will choose what I like. I have slowed down this time because I am focusing more on Bratz because that the doll line I first started back in 2001. It never dies.

    I think some people are in a bind. With inflation, some are really struggling to make ends meet. Personally as a doll collector my collections cycle. With limited space, impulse buys end up on the chopping block to make room for others.

    This happened with MH with G2. Prices for second hand dolls drop but have slowly skyrocketed with the success of G3. I'm keeping my collection , plus, the RH Dorm is the nicest dollhouse I've ever owned 🎉🎉🎉

    It's a shame people bought these dolls as a trend and then when RH got less popular they abandoned ship, wasting money for a temporary dopamine hit from having the hottest new doll. I hear too many collectors say they don't like a doll, yet they buy it anyway because it was new and they wanted to post about it or because they have all the other ones. I'm so glad I'm not a completionist. They like the idea of having everything, but don't even like all the things they have.

      I get anxious that I will buy a doll that I don’t like. That's why I always wait for hype to be over before I buy a doll that and hopefully by then it’s on sale.

    It's honestly insane that people are willing to sell their RH collections that easily, because I would never have the heart to sell my SH/RH collection! Shadow High is a HUGE comfort doll line for me because the Storm Twins are my personal comfort dolls/characters, and I have been collecting RH since 2020. I now have 86 SH/RH dolls including 5 sets of Storm Twins, a complete Shadow High collection, a decent Rainbow High collection, and even a custom doll car of the Storm Twins' Jeep that I customized myself. I do not like the RH Rebrand, but even though I'm not buying the Rebrand dolls, I still buy any original SH/RH dolls I can find secondhand or that I need for a good deal and I am constantly trying to fill in the gaps in my incomplete RH collection.🖤💜

    This is such a interesting topic!
    I don’t collect RH but I’ve collected many other things over the years.
    I own a lot of MH G1 dolls, when I fell out of collecting them years ago I stored them away before I thought of selling them. I’m glad that I’ve kept them all these years later, my collection is worth A LOT.
    I have collected other things that I have sold though. Here are my reasons.
    - I want to fund a different collection.
    - Product only comes out at certain times that becomes overwhelming and can’t keep up.
    - I still appreciate the product but, know someone loves it more than me and will enjoy it way more.
    I think for other people they do have other reasons. Some things are
    - Nothing new is happening with the brand people get bored and see money sitting on their shelf to use elsewhere.
    - Because it’s trendy
    - In need of money to pay for bills and other necessities.
    As awful as it sounds I’m waiting for this to happen to MH. G1,G2, or G3 I know people will start selling stuff once it’s nearing the end and a few years after.
    It won’t be in as much as a demand and prices will get cheaper. It’s sad to see people lose interest but, it’s opportunity for collectors who still want to buy get these items.
    I do have a feeling maybe some series will come back later and people will regret selling their collections. That demand will then make them skyrocket back up in price. It’s good to buy while the hype is dead.

    I have a lot of RH dolls, i think around 30-40. I will be keeping my collection, as they're actually the first dolls i started to collect! I have only been collecting dolls for a couple years, but i assume people might be getting rid of theirs because RH seems to be.. kind of fading out? at least in quality, i feel its been dropping a lot. more and more budget lines with less articulation, i havent been interested in the new dolls that rely heavily on gimmicks like slime/coloring/sparkly legs or whatever either.. Also RH dolls can be kind of large imo, so maybe its also a space reason. Still kind of interesting, though. Makes me curious about their future. I'm still happy to have the dolls i have though, my favorites are still the S1 of shadow high which is the ones i started collecting :)

I thought something specific happened to the doll but... after reading this comment, I have checked Reddit... it does not look promising. After glue seepage for G1 MH, here we are with foggy eyes for RH!! Not great! So far my RH are fine. People are mentioning different reasons for the fogging (too hot, too cold, acetone too near the eyes etc...). I just have the feeling nobody really has a clue.

    I sold my Rainbow High collection in favor of exclusively collecting the recent 2021-now Bratz releases, which I had started doing before even getting into RH.
    I went into phases where I only wanted LOLs and OMGs, and then RH, and now Bratz; which is the brand I’ve collected throughout all my life in various stages.
    The reason why I sold my collection (which I had invested a whole lot into in 2022 and 2023) was because I couldn’t keep up with simultaneously getting the new releases and the catching up with the older ones. It became frustrating to me and wasn’t enjoyable anymore. By the time 90% of my collection had sold, they had the rebooted the brand with the latest dolls, which I don’t fully hate but don’t represent any of the reasons why I bought them in the first place.

    I have about 35 or 6? RH dolls now. I've been collecting for over 2 years now. I still love rainbow high even tho the reboot kinda soured it with no wrists.
    But people selling their entire collections is so wild to me. I still love most of my dolls. I did get rid of Series 1 jade and poppy because I have other versions of them that are better.
    But I could never sell all of them. Especially since some like Delilah and Daphne were hard to find second hand. And the reboot doesn't sour my opinion of previous dolls. In fact it makes me appreciate them more since the glory days are over.

    I wouldn't part with mine, I collect because I love my Dolls, it isn't a fad for me. I do thin out my collection over the years , sometimes to make room or if I have multiples and need too make some money to buy something new. I have my Barbies, Sindys, Dawns, Bratzillaz, Monster Highs and everything in between so it would break my spirit to give them up, some I just could not replace. But for some people it may be they are in a financial pinch which I understand, so I can't judge, to each their own. It certainly isn't a cheap hobby, even if you count every penny you spend.

    The same thing happened with G1 MH when G2 came out and after MH had been discontinued. Many people were selling their collection. MH were not popular anymore. Never sell anything you love because of the dying hype. Look at G1 now, they had their revenge!
    I think with RH space might be a factor too. The dolls are a bit bulky to fit in small spaces. There were too many releases too fast and people ended up overwhelmed and running out of space. I will have to downsize due to terrible space issues and complicated circumstances. I am not planning to downsize my RH/SH, omgs, G1 MH etc but I am not buying any new dolls at the moment even thrifting and it will be for a while. Channels with videos of people buying dolls constantly are quite disturbing in a way and people can be carried away watching all these channels.

    I think when a doll line starts to go in a direction you don’t care for, you can lose interest in the line all together. I’m not a Rainbow High collector (just the clothes), but my interest in Monster High G3 is plummeting because I’m really not vibing with all the dolls suddenly having black lipstick or their new fashions. I’m not selling all my dolls, but I’m definitely thinking about heavily downsizing. I know that the Rainbow High slime dolls and the glitter leg dolls haven’t been received well by some fans, so they might see it as the beginning of the end of Rainbow High (and want to sell while they can sell high).

    I think it’s sad that people are selling their Rainbow High collections. The dolls are so detailed and I really like them. I am definitely not a Completionist, though. Since I cannot see them, I buy dolls based off of their voice or personality if they have a cartoon. Most of my Rainbow High dolls are from when Rainbow Vision was coming out, since I love music. I love the mean girl personalities and voices of The Devious Twins, and that they had a whole song, so they instantly became my favorites set of twins in the show and I have their dolls.

    To me as a very new collector I'm not currently collecting because some of the ones I want are hard to find for under $150 and I'm not even willing to pay $80 for a play line doll. It's easier to collect now that Rainbow High is sort of dead because I'm not gonna buy the new stuff. I'll get Jett and Kia someday they are definitely reasonably priced but not being able to get some of the series 3 girls I want made me take a break. I don't care for Bratz or OMG so you're safe, I'm not competing with you. I'm into Monster High G3 these days but again, I'm too late so there's 2 Draculauras I can't get.

    I just stopped liking them, I don’t know why. I had 78 and donated them all. They were purchased brand new over 9 months. One day I looked at them and just didn’t get it. I had all the most wanted, none of that made a difference. I just got very bored with them. I was newer to LOL OMG, but donated those too. I think MGA and the way the designer treated that young girl by doxxing her made me lose respect for the company. That really bothered me. I also believe they work too hard at making some of the dolls look more like street walkers than cute teens. Just my feelings. Everyone has the right to enjoy whatever dolls they like.

    I have occasionally bought some dolls and then a bit later sold them because they are no longer what I wanted. I was never a Rainbow High collector, I almost started on Shadow High but living in the UK the dolls aren't as available as they are in the US and Canada. So I never bothered, I have many Pedigree Sindy dolls, Monster High, Wild Hearts Crew, Harry Potter, DC Super Hero Girls and Ever After High. My collections don't take over the whole house though, they are in our bedroom and I'm cool with that. Most of the dolls I have bought though, I still have, including quite a few porcelain dolls.

    I bought almost all dolls before the reboot and I'm not selling them! I slowly want to finish my collection, buy some doubles to have them in box, and I can finally be at peace. RH/SH dolls are few of rare lines I genuinely like & want almost all of them. I feel like a child when I buy them AND they are modern (I get tired of buying online vintage things). After I finish my collection, my main focus would be vintage Barbies, but my RH are for a long run with me (I hope nothing happens with me/them/etc).

    I was really hyped with Shadow High and their upcoming Twin Sisters Car. But they cancelled that and the Wave 3 or 4 of Shadow high didn't appeal to me anymore. I collected other Rainbow High dolls but I saw how MGA moved their target to a younger audience. They release dolls with less articulation and accessories which is a shame. They were stunning dolls and a real competitor for mattel. But since they did the reboot, I don't wanna collect anymore. I'll keep 2-3 Dolls but the rest can go. I simply lost interest.

  • @Diana-mu7pc
    @Diana-mu7pc Месяц назад +2

    I'm not *really* a doll collector mainly for money and physical space limitations... I have too many books that don't fit onto shelves to get into dolls, LOL, but I do have a few Barbie and Bratz and other miscellaneous girlies in my life, and obviously since I found your video, I do watch a lot of doll collector content in order to scratch that itch, so idk how my thoughts relate to the average RH collector, because honestly I never really was all that tempted by them? This might be a hot take but it is my honest opinion: I think the shocking amount of quality for what was originally a good price (until it kept on rising and rising) is what really blew people away, moreso than the overall dolls. There was nothing else that looked or felt quite like a Rainbow High doll for a good handful of years there.
    I was never really a fan of their aesthetic; their faces never really worked for me and most of the designer fashion that the brand went for just did not represent my interests at all, and I'm not a fan of monochrome themes which was obviously the whole point. BUT they had all the bells and whistles that the mature doll collecting community wanted, tons of articulation and diverse clothing pieces and materials. I was honestly impressed with how they continued to up their game with what they could execute on a doll. That embroidered jacket on Rosie Redwood in SH series 2 was the closest I ever came to breaking LMAO. So I could see why people went nuts even though they weren't my thing. But I almost think they were kinda too unique to last, and MGA quickly oversaturated the brand while they could make the most bank on it, but it wasn't a sustainable investment long-term which is why they recently dropped some of that too-good-to-be-true quality and pivoted harder once again to a child audience. Now that the phenomenon is decidedly over and not coming back, I think some people are realizing they kinda got played by the doll hype train. RH is certainly gonna have a very unique place in doll history but I also think a lot of the individual dolls are gonna be very dated soon, if they aren't already. To say that a lot of people might've over-bought... well, it happens to the best of us, LOL.

    • @ectpeb8417
      @ectpeb8417  Месяц назад +1

      First of all I totally relate to not having space for a collection. Also I hadn’t thought about the price rising being an issue for people losing interest but i completely agree. And I definitely think people over bought the dolls watching some yourtubers who got doubles and triples of the same doll. ❤️

    • @Diana-mu7pc
      @Diana-mu7pc Месяц назад

      @@ectpeb8417 Right!! I remember when RH was still rising in popularity and people were like, stanning MGA hard for it and being like "Look at all this in a $30 playline doll! Barbie could never!" so they just kept upping the quality but also, obviously, the price. Just because MGA can do more than Mattel with a budget doesn't mean they have infinite resources-like of course at some point the dolls have to be profitable. If RH were always as expensive the later lines ended up being, they probably wouldn't have taken off in the first place, and we wouldn't have been as impressed. Because 1) of course an expensive doll should be high quality and 2) a high-quality collector-oriented doll line won't sell as much as play-line dolls; they aren't supposed to. Adult doll collectors with disposable income aren't as big a market to latch onto, compared to a general audience buying fun colorful dolls for the children in their lives. MGA is not trying to be a struggling respectable artist; just like Mattel, they're a corporation and they're trying to make money first and foremost.

    i've got a huge collection and im starting to not like them. im more interested currently with Myscene. rainbow high has gone downhill since about last year to the end of 2022. the quality is terrible and those slime dolls are embarrasing. even the last waves of rainbow high and shadow high were bad. many designs are boring or ugly. i think they have just run out of ideas. the other thing i don't like about rainbow high / shadow high is that many big lines, like the rockers, sleep over dolls, halloween / masqurade party ones were all limited to the US. many europeon collectors like myself have to pay at least £100+ just for one of those dolls. and the other factor is that they are just too expensive. the 'limited edition' collector dolls were WAY to expensive.
