I had a tiny bit of cracking on a few minis (and it was very minor). It wasn't caused by putting it on to thick, it was that the primer wasn't 100% fully cured underneath. Once I was aware of that I haven't had any cracking since
Loving this speedpaints+ wash combo, although i agree it comes out quite dark, and benefits from the highlights. Painting faces with speedpaints tutorial on 32mm mini would be awesome.
Speedpaints over ink (like in a zenithal) seems to contribute to the cracking. I switched to Stynelrez, Army Painter, or Pro Acryl white primer and haven’t had a problem.
@@TheArmyPainterI haven't had any issues with cracking over white ink. But, I think it's because I mix my ink with some matte varnish to get rid of the gloss and give the ink a little more permanence. 😊
@@TheArmyPainter wraithbone is satin and very common. And it cracks. And if you airbrush prime white, you use inks. Sadly we have to search those instructions in some comment sections because you did not mention a thing about that in your 5000 instagram videos. Youre cracking shtpaint ruined a 12 hour paintjob. and i dont change my whole painting process, because youre unable to test your paints. Funfact, it also cracks with your white rattlecan primer....yeah....the known as "Worst acrylic primer of all time" thing.
Easiest way to get cracking is to just use some glossy white ink like liquitex and ten put almost any Speedpaint on top of it. I was really struggling with this so I had to find a different white for doing a zenithal prime and I started using white matt stynylrez primer and the speedpaints work as a charm

So, I JUST got an airbrush and am very new to using it. I'm using stynylrez and I got clogging/dried paint almost immediately trying to use it as directed without thinning (I might have had some other issues going on as well so I can't blame the primer completely, as I said I'm a noob). On my second shot, I ended up thinning it just a little and was able to zenithal a bunch of minis no problem. However, I'm getting cracking with some of my paints now. I'm assuming it could have something to do with me thinning them - perhaps the surface is too slick now. Do you add anything to your stynylrez or is it straight out of the bottle?
@@DonSuratos Yes I am new to minature painting and have been watching a lot of videos. I like your style of painting and also like the paints you mainly use. I bought the whole range of speedpaints 2.0 and looking into buying cuttlefish colors too. I need some pointers to get started though as its a bit overwhelming and I have so many questions as theres so much information to learn and follow. I feel like I could use a 1 on 1 with a professional. Im curious if you might have availability in the future.
@@DonSuratos yes please I am very interested, I honestly can't find another RUclipsr that does such a good job as you do with speedpaint and I'd like to learn to master it

Oh… thanks for the info! People should find it useful. Cheers! 😊
Well... basically this paintwork is... hmmmm... kind of... hmmm... basically AMAZING
Hahaha! Thanks! 😅🎨🎨🎨

Thanks! 32mm? Warhammer faces? 😊
Yes, and any other smaller minis whose faces are so hard to paint 🫣😱
I love your work with the Speedpaints! You've got a new subscriber! 👍
Oh thank you sir. 😊🎨🎨🎨
So impressive! Thats very impressive.
Thank you! 😊🎨🎨🎨

Thank you for the inputs man! Those paints must be drying slower than speed paints! 😊🎨🎨🎨
That’s exactly it, inks are too glossy. Speedpaints were designed with more common matte and satin basecoats in mind.
@TheArmyPainter Speed paint ROCKS! 😅🎨🎨🎨

If that's the wrong way of painting, I wish I could paint wrong a lot more, looks amazing to me :)
Hahaha! I’ll try to paint the other vignette the right way. 😅🎨🎨🎨
Love your work Don, are these model available?
Thanks! They are currently for PO at merlinmodels.com bro. 😊
after you speed paint and before using acrylics; are you using a matt varnish first?

@@vintagetechno Oh… my apologies as I have no idea with the paint you are currently using. So I cannot offer an advice. 😊
Hey don I saw on your patreon pallidium is sold out. Is there any availability opening for it soon?
