How a spoonful of honey could save your child's life

- Button batteries can kill if swallowed.
They react with saliva and body fluids to produce caustic soda - similar to the extremely strong alkali used to clean drains - it burns flesh!
A recent study has shown that giving two spoonfuls of honey following ingestion of a battery can coat the battery and neutralise some of the caustic soda produced. This can reduce some of the damage caused.
If you suspect your child has eaten a battery - always take them straight to the Emergency Department. If you can give them some honey on the way - please do. Never give them anything else to eat or drink and do not make them sick.
Please share - this information could prevent many children from life-changing injuries from swallowing batteries and could save their lives.

What exactly she wants to say....?
Fun fact. Honey is toxic to children under the age of 1 and it will kill them. Maybe instead of giving a toxic substance to a child of they've eaten a battery you should take them to the hospital
Many people swallow button Natalie’s and this is a stimulation on what would happen to your stomach.
love the part where they explain how
Thank you

the honey prevents the battery from basically melting the esophagus
tell me you didnt watch the video without saying it
those metal things are button batteries and what there explaining is that sometimes a kid may swallow them and it can sometimes burn a hole in there esophagus or idk somewhere and cause death so there showing that honey helps to kinda stop it from burning a hole or anything like that while tha no honey is acid burned (god I’m wasting my time and I feel like a nerd🤦) and if ya don’t get it don’t reply
I guess it's supposed to be that the honey prevents corrosion of tissues as opposed to having nothing. I'm not sure.
Honey coats the battery and neutralises the caustic soda

Great video. I didnt know this.

So confused 🤔
Not sure why you are confused. Please just keep button batteries well out of reach of children

@@NoNo-vn8de perhaps if you listened to the post and read the article you would see that is exactly what is recommended and why
@@FirstaidforlifeOrgUk1 there is no need to read a full article to understand that you should be taking your child to the hospital instead of feeding them poison. No matter how much you attempt to neutralise the battery whatever you put in the child's stomach has to be equally as alkaline in order to do any good which is also bad for your child as a start without considering your advocating to do nothing else about a battery in a child's stomach. I'm well versed in science and I'm telling you your peddling bad ideas that could get children killed.
Honey is literally poisonous to children under the age of 1 and will give them symptoms a 5 year old may not survive let alone a toddler. I just hope you don't have children at a vulnerable age

@@NoNo-vn8de i know about the honey thing and the battery thing now. I think don’t get how honey can save your childs life. It just looked like if you’re child ate honey, it would burn their esophagus faster
heh?
