  • Legendary KVIL morning man Ron Chapman surprises a woman at work who's listening to the station. KVIL was the top station in Dallas/Ft. Worth in the 70s and 80s. Ron retired in 2005 and (thanks to Dontryl for the info below) passed away in 2017.

@deputay Ron Chapman (FKA: Irving Harrigan) died last month. RC maybe gone, but not forgotten. RIP Ron Chapman, and Godspeed.

Oh, thanks for the unfortunate update Dontryl. I appreciate it and will adjust the description. All my searches showed his retirement and later in life interviews. Always liked what I heard of him on the air and taking over for Paul Harvey.

Hey there! So Jody Dean recently posted a podcast episode he did with Ron Chapman.. he is still alive.. the story you saw.. was when KVIL died and changed formats.. they interviews Chapman on that date about his memories of the station. Just wanted to clear that up!

Didn't listen to KVIL - other than how KVIL was the alternate Cowboys games' station if the Rangers were on KRLD (& I hate the Cowboys 😂). Chapman: DFW icon & legend.
