Not gonna lie: Rin actually being Tobi would have been SO AWESOMELY MIND BLOWING!! The flashback could have been a mislead to make the viewer think it was Obito. But it would only make sense like this: Obito sacrifices himself and gives Kakashi his eye, but his wounds are too far gone and Madara got to him too late and he passes. But upon some last words from Obito (probably him talking about his friends and feelings about Rin) Madara gets an idea/theory to test out that he believes will become fruitful (using love, the catalyst of all vengeance (and evil in my opinion) to achieve his goal). And so (in some epic shinobi style chess scheme/plan) he uses Zetsu to manipulate Danzo to manipulate events to manipulate the village(rs) to either disgrace Obito (so that Danzo can use him as a scape goat to further tarnish/demonize the Uchihas or some war s-t like that) or have them do their pre-Pain judgemental idiotic villager s-t, (*inhaile*) ALL to blacken Rin’s heart. Then he subtly leads Rin to his hiding place, shows her the body of Obito, brings out some epic “Nothing goes as planned in this world” speach, blaming Danzo and those like him for all of it, and tempts her with the idea that with the Tsukinome (am I spelling that right?) she can protect everyone, even from themselves. Madara then offers her Obito’s other eye, claiming it to be an act of generosity. Rin takes the eye and he implants it in her, but (at first) she denies Madara’s plan believing there is still good in the world left fighting for despite the injustice done to her dead friend and the world of war they live in, and initially claims that she will use Obito’s eye along with Kakashi to have Obito live through them. But (as according to Madara’s plan) soon after Zetsu informs them that Kakashi is outnumbered by a hord of blood mist ninja. Apparently he got wind of an operation from a the blood mist village were going to use one of their own as a biju-kamikaze and sent a large task force to protect and launch the said biju-bomb-boy into the heart of the village so the 3 tails can rampage. Knowing that there was no time to call for backup and warn the village, Kakashi takes it upon himself to do his own suicide mission and kill the mist sudo-jinjuriki. Mortified upon hearing this Rin dashes to where he is (guided by Zetsu), fear gripping her as she is fraught with the thought of not only losing her last friend, but her love as well. She gets there in time to see Kakashi in his final moments of the battle; his chidori pierced the heart of the sudo-jinjuriki, but his body after attempt to take on a whole battalion on his own, suffered serious damage (like Zabuza on the bridge after killing that mob guy), mission completed he falls in a pool of his blood from his profusely bleeding body. Believing him to be dead as she witness him slump to the ground, and hearing the jeers of vengeance and payback the blood mist ninjas were going to exact on his body, Rins last light fades away, all the grief, hate, and pain she had held within her broke out like a dam, and it is she who snaps and awakens her Mongeko Sharingan. After the slaughter she (like Obito) holds Kakashi’s body close to her, and here she sees that he is barely still alive. Though thankful, she has already succumbed to despair, believing it is only a matter of time before a tragedy such as this will happen again and again and she’ll be too late or too weak again, and not just to her but to everyone. And it is here where she knew what she must do, to end the suffering once and for all. So after mending, but not healing, his wounds Rin waits for Kakashi to regain consciousness and proceeds to fake her death, making it look like she died in an attempt to save him; and it is here Kakashi unlocks his Mongyeko as well. Returning Madara, Rin decides to join him in his crusade for true peace. As she assumes the new mantle of Madara she vows to keep watch over Kakashi through those eyes they share, but will not hesitate to end him if it means that he won’t suffer anymore wether in life or in death. And the rest is (would-be) history. And it is *SO* possible that this could happen! We already know voice changing is something that they can do, like when Yamato impersonated Sasori, or how Obito mimicked Madara’s voice, and if Mulan can pull off looking like a dude then so can these we’ll trained Ninja. 🤩😁😁🤩🤓😆😁
You know... It makes sense. Rin is a medical ninja. And she has a lot of chakra. She could well maintain control over Hashirama's cells and Madara's Rinnegan for a long time.
Actually that seems like a slightly better story than the original: having Rin as The Apprentice of Madara Uchiha would definitely change things in Konaha, with Uchiha Clan doesn't get massacred, Obito fulfills his lifelong dream of becoming the fifth or sixth Hokage/ the first Uchiha Hokage, getting rid of Danzo early, Naruto getting influence by him and Shisui as a kid, preventing the Civil War in mist, yet Kakashi will be a cyclops.
As someone who has been watching the "What If Obito" video series Obito not being crushed by a rock and becoming Hokage is definitely on the list Man I wish there was a conplete fan animation about this idea😫

Yeah but he lost some things on the way. Mainly his Hashi cells, making him able to reatach body parts, spamming Kamui without problems and making it so he does no longer need to eat, drink or go to toilet. Secondly, he lost his wast knowledge of the Sharingan and Rinnegan. Jutsu like Izanagi probably wouldn’t be know by him. And lastly (but that’s in his final form) he doesn’t have six path chakra making him unable to use a perfect Susanoo or weild a gudodama. So yeah this form is definitely stronger then orange mask Tobi and probably equal to white mask but I believe his strongest (in terms of potential) is still when he had both Sharingan at the Kaguya fight. If he survived and slept for 6 months straight after that he would be impossible to beat

I have so many questions about this timeline. The ninetails attack could still happen with Rin doing it via some rinnigan bullshit. But what about the Uchiha clan would they still be massacred sense one of their own is the 5th Hokage. Their problems came from the fact the highest titles a Uchiha clan member often obtain are the Jonin and the head of the Police force none of the higher up positions in the village admistration i.e High Officer positions in the Torture and intergation units, being restricted to Foot soldier anbu until Itachi, the Jonin commander slot and Jonin squad leaders never being Uchiha. Hell genin squad leaders were never Uchiha despite multiple of their Jonin applying for it. Not to mention with obito being 5th Hokage presumably after the nine tails attack would that indicate the village having a less hate for Uchiha members. So many situations so many answers and I love it

The video was just incredible, and you got the chills flowing with the images of the 4 characters pop with the beat at 1:55 oof. And the music when Rin and Obito were hand to hand and showed that flashback

I have so many questions about this timeline. The ninetails attack could still happen with Rin doing it via some rinnigan bullshit. But what about the Uchiha clan would they still be massacred sense one of their own is the 5th Hokage. Their problems came from the fact the highest titles a Uchiha clan member often obtain are the Jonin and the head of the Police force none of the higher up positions in the village admistration i.e High Officer positions in the Torture and intergation units, being restricted to Foot soldier anbu until Itachi, the Jonin commander slot and Jonin squad leaders never being Uchiha. Hell genin squad leaders were never Uchiha despite multiple of their Jonin applying for it. Not to mention with obito being 5th Hokage presumably after the nine tails attack would that indicate the village having a less hate for Uchiha members. So many situations so many answers and I love it
