  • I honestly can’t imagine a worse hill climb to be legal! Oh wait let’s haul 30,000lbs behind a 1 ton and climb that hill! What’s the worst that could happen?

    Got a pass like that here in NC, 10% for 6 miles. My 22 f450 hauls the 30k up great, but sounds like a jet engine as the cooling fan stays on high in 90 degree heat. Oil gets 245 degrees, and trans 230. My 2018 f250 hauling 20k would hit 245 degree trans and 250 oil temp.

    I cooked the tranny and damaged the 4.10 rear end in my 2017 F350 dually hauling over 36k in Vermont hills, tranny was running 270° yeah so that experience was nice lol was definitely overweight too as the container I was hauling was a little bit over 24k with a 11k trailer. Surprisingly it moved and stopped this load without any issues for about 250 miles from Troy VT to central Massachusetts. Then the tranny was cooked. Next year the rear end let go. Didn't haul anything substantial after the tranny was replaced, about 15- 20k total weight. 98k mileage life for tranny and 130k for the rear end. Now the F350 has 280k and has no issues and is primarily a 2nd work truck for backup jobs. My 2020 F550 dually sees most duties now. Almost similar mileage with no major issues except the finicky 10 speed tranny being reprogrammed and had it's valve body replaced at 30k and 50k but since then has been fine, averages 32k pounds often. Stay safe and fill ur boots! ✌🏽❤️ 🇺🇲

    I’m not sure if the 4th gens are the same, but on my ‘21, if I set the gear limit it will then continue to show what gear I’m in. I can still set the limit to 6 so I am getting every gear if needed.

    • @SoonerMikeD
      @SoonerMikeD Год назад

      Yeah it’s the same on 4th gens. Only way to get it to show current gear is to go into manual mode.

  • @megam3at171
    @megam3at171 Год назад

    Your gear shifter should have a button on it that you push it will then show you what gear your in and you can lock it where it will only go to a certain gear

    That is a bit of a nasty hill we have a few of them around where I live. The company I worked for has an 2015 F750 we used to pull a tandem dual tag trailer we packed the Kubota 80s on. There were hills if I had to stop and restart forget it the truck would power out the 6.7 Cummins didn't like the weight. Aisin transmissions are tough I put the one in the 09 Sterling Bullet through some abuse. Aisin transmissions are not as smooth as Torqshift transmissions in the Fords, the Alison transmission in the F750 was awful it was always in the wrong gear.

    i'm just curious, it looked like you had the Excavator too far back on the trailer. the towing video's i've been watching note that if equipment is too far back on a trailer, you can get uncontrolled side swaying of the trailer and load. i've always heard that trailer loads should be 40-60 with 60% of the weight being in front of the tandem axles and 40% being over the axles. what are your thoughts and experiences?

    • @workplaytv

    Sorry I may have missed it but what year is your truck? I have a 2004 F-350 Powerstroke dually and my wife and I want to purchase a 5th wheel that will be about 14,000 lbs soon and I’m hoping I have enough truck to comfortable tire it around the country. This video gives me hope lol.

    • @remichiasson4602
      @remichiasson4602 Год назад +1

      you definitely do, you just gotta pay closer attention to fluids and temps on those older trucks and have to work a little harder while you drive it (picking gears, etc.). but your truck will pull 14k no problem

  • @aj06bolt12r

    Man I would absolutely manually select my gears on a hill like that... Already have it downshifted before you even start making that turn... Keep the transmission from upshifting every time you back off of the throttle.
