  • Bob Ray Sanders and Jan Jones examine the amazing life of McDonald, a banker of great influence in Texas during the late 19th century. A member of the "Black and Tan" faction, he was elected to the Republican Party of Texas' state executive committee. In 1906, he founded Fort Worth's first African-American-owned bank as an enterprise of the state Masons; under his management, the bank survived the Great Depression.
Sanders' journalism career has spanned three decades and three media: newspaper, television and radio. He is vice president /associate editor and a Metro columnist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the newspaper where he began his professional career.
Jones is a fifth generation Texan and lifelong resident of Fort Worth. During a 31-year teaching career, she taught speech, theater and English in several Tarrant County high schools.
