@Jane Doe please do your math correctly ...If the VAT would be implemented to pay for this, in a practical way this would be comparable to a sales tax of about 10% added to every purchase.
Let's look at an equal rate of 10% applied to all items (actually the VAT system would differentiate with higher tax rates for luxury goods and lower rates to no rates for essential goods) that one can buy. At a rate of $1000 a month, people get a freedom dividend of $12000 per year. Only people who buy $120.000 worth in goods or more per year would end up paying more at the end of the year than now. Someone who spends $50.000 in a year would pay $5000 in VAT every year (that's still a net gain of $7000) and someone who spends less per year buying things (per person, because every adult in a household gets it) gets even more of a net positive gain every month/year. So no your statement is factually incorrect. A system like this clearly benefits people with less money and is (in my simplified model presented here) carried by the people who buy more than $120.000 worth of good and services per year, for themselves. So only a household with two adults that buys more than $240.000 worth of stuff per year ends up paying more in this proposed system. I don't know the exact statistics, but i would guess that somewhere more than 90% of americans will gain from this.

I cried and cried and cried. I don't really need the 1K Freedom Dividend because my family is doing more than alright. If my husband, daughter and I get the dividend, we will donate all of it to those who need it more like what that amazing man is doing.

sure, its takes a will to do anything (even to get out of bed for me!); but voting? That is a duty every citizen has to do. A duty to themselves and to everyone around. To society.
and the idea of reducing the voting age to 16 is brilliant because, like Yang says 'when one starts young, one tends to continue doing it throughout one's life (like I have for over 40 years)
and this is also a privileged that as citizens of a democracy we all have and should not take for granted. We know from history that even democracies can very quickly slip into dictatorships if we forgo this right
however, here the subject is the 'dividend'; which really in a capitalist society we know every company does this at their 'General Body Meetings'! The board tells their shareholders that their company has made a profit and asks them how would they like it to be spent. It is put to a vote!
and here we have a whole country that has been making record profits but they have been spending all that money without asking its shareholders / the citizens how it should be spent! This will be our chance / our opportunity to vote to give ourselves a dividend!
This is why we need UBI. Let’s make Yang president

Inflation. If Yang's not talkin about getting rid of the Federal Reserve we're going back to the gold standard that he's going to add deficit. Kicking the can down the road just like every other president. Not a single person in office will address this and if they do they get assassinated. I'm so disappointed that many people still haven't gotten behind Yang yet.
That is why it is all the more important to help spread the message of the campaign.
Most people do get behind him when they listen to his vision for the country but the media aren't going to spread his vision, that's up to us. Every one of us has to do everything we possibly can to make this happen.
There is a LOT of push back from the various billionaires and businesses that would lose hard from Yang and they're trying to keep him out of the limelight as long as possible. This is why you don't see the other Presidential candidates taking shots at Yang because they'll not only embarrass themselves, they'll likely elevate Yang WAY higher.
Most people don't know about them because they are so caught up in working or surviving. I'm online everyday and really did not know much about him until recently.

I met Michael lat night at a Yang fundraiser, really cool guy, and a dad too. Crazy thing, Andrew didn't even mention Michael was in the room. I met him by accident. Andrew totally respected the guy by not parading him around like a trophy.

Something like this would totally change my life! I’m a disabled nurse, I lost my home while down here in Mexico taking care of my mom. I got a call from my “daughter” that the house had burned up. So I had no home to return to- ended up homeless, so to speak- anyway I sure hope Andrew is our President- I have to figure out how to vote for you-

I feel so touched.. there’s so many people close to me that I think the dividend would help tremendously. My wife and I make good money. So I’ve never been into Yang for personal reasons. I just see the opportunities it would create for so many people around me and my community. Would be incredible for our economy and our well beings.

I ve been homeless too and a 1000$ a month would have made a huge difference. It would not have solved all problems instantly but i would have been much more confident of making my way slowly out of homeless ness.
