I watched this vid a long time ago and it still amazes me, great work jetlag. The summit is an awesome machine ( E-revo, jacked up, stronger driveline, diff locks and 2 speed) The ultimate machine!, I feel sorry for my Poor old brushless emaxx that i had to sell so urgently to get my summit!!, tekin rx8 6s is about a week away now!
Thanks for the compliments on the videos! Both the Mamba Monster and the Novak HV pro brushless systems are killer and you will be happy with either. The Mamba can do 6S lipo while the Novak can only do 4S lipo. However, my experience is that when you use 6S lipo it just destroys tires. Mempey has the mamba monster in his E-REVO. after ripping 3 sets of tires in half whithin a few minutes with 6S, he decided use 4S from now on. So either system rocks and you will like them.
Thanks for the answer!!! Maybe in 6S power the tire ripping could be prevented by controlling the throttle in the acceleration or extra gluing the tires, what do you thing? Or maybe by decreasing the pinion because with the stock one and 6S it could only get 50 mph or increasing it for decrease the torque. Thank you.
The big thing that really helps the Summit pull well is the really low gear ratio it has in low gear, along with the huge sticky tires. I have heard many guys use proline sand paws (paddle tires) in the show with really good effect. I may try some myself this winter.
I jacked it up for jumping and bashing. I don't really do any serious crawling, just playing around. But it seems to do fine that high. I change the shock heights occasionally just to try it at different settings.
Thank you for the kind words! I enjoy R/C a lot. It's the way I relax from my "real" job. So its fun to video it and share it with everybody so they can see how much fun R/C can be if you do it right.
I didn't know you could get locking diffs for the EMX it's different story with 17 mm hubs and offset tires, and a 2 speed upgrade.. yet for a stock competition this was a great display of what these two can do thanks, I now have both as well good job
Thanks! I might some day although what the E-REVO is really good at is dirt track racing, not pulling. :) I upgraded my E-MAXX to the Kershaw 700 ho motors. It's not brushless by really fast and can still run in water. I'm not planning to go brushless with it right now.
I have already upgraded the E-MAXX to the Kershaw designs twin 700 HO motors. I like them really well and don't have any plans to upgrade it to brushless currently. So why did I go with the 700s? Well for about $100 I got aprox the same speed and power as a $250 brushless upgrade. And the truck is still water safe. I don't need the E-MAXX to be super fast. I have a Rustler VXL after all. lol. I just want it to have plenty of power.
Nice video! It would be funny/interesting if you were able to swap the tires, that might have leveled the playing field (more than tuning the suspension or using ropes anyway, lol). Great job on showing off these truck's strengths and weaknesses.
Thanks for making this video. I've never even heard about the Summit. I have 3 crawlers and was looking at the e maxx for a basher. But now I can't decide!!
When you drove your truck through the water how did you get all of the water out? I was sqeezing water out for days , Traxxas says to drill a3/16 hole in them ,but that do not work because I tore my tire up.Hey keep making those videos they are really good. Thanks.
what you should do is lock the diffs in the e-maxx and get a e-revo and lock the diffs in that then see who comes out on top also where you in low gear for the pull? i would try high just to be curious
thanks for the video! I didn't knew which one to buy... I'll go for the E-maxx, I don't have to do rockcrawling and stuff, just want a nice looking monstertruck that can go fast as hell!
They sure do. Awesome upgrade for the E-MAXX. I LOVE them. stock EVX2 works just perfect with them. And they can run underwater. :) Like I said... awesome.
I like it set higher because of the look. And also because it can drive over bigger rocks with high suspension. I haven't noticed that much difference either way.
ive got the same problem on my BL, i think its just that the axle has loosened from punching the throttle and when you turn it causes extra stress on it, making it click
Here's a bit of trivia for you all... The reving engine sounds at the beginning of this vid are actually a Lotus Esprit and a Lamborghini Countach. The exceleration sound is a 12 cylinder (V12) Lamborghini engine doing a 0-60 speed test. It gets there in 1 shift. :)
Very cool video. I have the previous gen E-Maxx, bl and all. It's definitely fun for quick bashing runs and off-roading, but I'm really wanting to get that Summit lately. Just something about taking it through water and dirt alike and driving along a nice trail worry free that appeals....and all that torque. It's almost perfect in stock form.
jestlag I spend a lot of time on youtube watching rc models movies, but yours are the best.I think You must put a lot of hours working at this movie and others but it was worth it,believe me.
Yeah, I should have fixed that before filming. I had it set lower because I was racing with it and it corners better with the suspension lowered like that. It would have crawled a bit better with the suspension set back up I agree.
thats not far from me at all. yea i only have a vxl stampede. i plan on getting the summit within the next year or so. so how many rc vehicles do you have total. anyway what song is playin when the pulling starts
@jetlag2222 And how have they held up? Anything broken? If so what? Your post was about nine months ago. What would you recommend switching out for the conversion having ran it for awhile?
what truck do you think I should buy? I really like the summit but it's not so fast as the e-maxx, and I don't know if I wont to put so mutch money on a rc-truck as the summit cost + extra batts and a better charger, I would really like our help jetlag:)
How do you get your e-maxx to wheelie of the line cuz i use 8.4s with the biggest shock spacers in and mine doesnt wheelie did you double up your spacers or something?
@jetlag2222 I thought it did, but it was jus really unexpected to see that. I have a Stampede VXL 2wd and I want a 4wd, but dont want to get another Stampede. any recommendations? I thought about a summit but the VXL is just too expensive. Im kinda likin the Emaxxx=
My 16 month old and I just enjoyed this video very much and sub'd you...we rock an E-maxx with Mamba 2200...Highly recomend it with some lipo power...you'll fall in love with your maxx all over again!!! ; )
Well let's see... I've already got videos up of the Summit running in mud, snow, and deep water. Also some crawling up steps and over large logs. No steep hills yet, but those don't really exist in Indiana... lol. Why don't you create some and share with all of us? :))
not really fair test is it. E-Maxx build for speed and jumps and light terrin SUMMIT build for climbing put a SUV like suburban vs a 4x4 jeep not really a test
The song in the background at the beginning is a Pantera song. I have a lot of R/C stuff. Just watch all the videos. I don't bother to count them. lol.
Which batteries are you using there? 6-cell NiMH, 7-cell or 2S LiPo. I have a 3905 E-Maxx and it don´t wheelie at all on the grass with my Venom 6-cell NiMH 3000 mah, only with reverse.
well it depends what motors you put on of course. If you're talking about the twin 970s from Kershaw then yes it will go faster. I just got them and will be doing the upgrade very soon. The manual says they can push the summit up to 35mph. And they CAN run in water. In fact the way you break them in is by running them underwater for 1 hr.
rofl. woah there big fella, nice shooting. lmao!! Yes you are right. Some people have a hard time adjusting to the fact that the Summit is just plain bigger, stronger, lower geared, and provided with better traction than most other trucks out there. Thanks for your kind and gentle explanation for everyone. :))
summit is the BOSS
I watched this vid a long time ago and it still amazes me, great work jetlag. The summit is an awesome machine ( E-revo, jacked up, stronger driveline, diff locks and 2 speed) The ultimate machine!, I feel sorry for my Poor old brushless emaxx that i had to sell so urgently to get my summit!!, tekin rx8 6s is about a week away now!
Thanks for the advice
i cant show running because ive broken the servo
will get a knew one in about 3 months or more...
thank you
Excellent video...again, lol. Seems like every video you make is always awesome and has me wanting more!!!
Great music, could watch all day. Cool vid.
Thanks for the compliments on the videos!

hey man great video u did a bang up job love all the comparisons u did thanks for 5 mins of awsomeness
You've made me a lover of R/C forever. I used to like them, but now I already have plans for my Stampede VXL. Just need the money. ;)
Thx dude! The summit has huge pulling power with those big sticky tires and locking diffs.

Glad you liked it. :) And thanks for the compliment on the zebra paint job. I like it a lot too. :))
awsome video man. I love all of your videos. I watch them two or three times
I started buying traxxas trucks a long time ago... and because of their great quality, fun, and parts availability I just never stopped. :)
@pfleeger2010 - Right. Why would I use 2 exact same vehicles? That was the point. I was showing the differences between the apple and the orange. lol.
Thank you for the kind words! I enjoy R/C a lot. It's the way I relax from my "real" job. So its fun to video it and share it with everybody so they can see how much fun R/C can be if you do it right.
Excellent video, very nice to see the differences in a real world example :)
I didn't know you could get locking diffs for the EMX it's different story with 17 mm hubs and offset tires, and a 2 speed upgrade.. yet for a stock competition this was a great display of what these two can do thanks, I now have both as well good job

i watched this video like a year ago and its still reallly good! keep them comming
Thanks a lot, man. Hey, I still love my E-maxx too. I drive it all the time. And I like your idea of a submarine test. lol.
On the e maxx tires, have u noticed any wear or tear on the treads? I seem to have them already...
Sweet! Mine isn't quite that fast, but it's pretty quick with the Kershaw motor upgrades.
@jetlag2222 So when you converted to the VXL3500s did you get two ESCs and a controller that would control both ESCs?
sweet!!! iv been looking for some powerful motors that can be waterproof. any idea how much it would cost? do you need 1 or two?
Thanks for making this video. I've never even heard about the Summit. I have 3 crawlers and was looking at the e maxx for a basher. But now I can't decide!!
Excellent and informative answer. As always. You rock!
When you drove your truck through the water how did you get all of the water out? I was sqeezing water out for days , Traxxas says to drill a3/16 hole in them ,but that do not work because I tore my tire up.Hey keep making those videos they are really good. Thanks.

Were they both brushless upgraded because both had a lot of torque, popped wheel stands in racing and pulling power?
thanks for the video! I didn't knew which one to buy... I'll go for the E-maxx, I don't have to do rockcrawling and stuff, just want a nice looking monstertruck that can go fast as hell!
jetlag did you have that 700 ho motor in it i know you did i just got one today in my emaxx its the beast
an my dad just got brushless motor in summit
They sure do. Awesome upgrade for the E-MAXX. I LOVE them. stock EVX2 works just perfect with them. And they can run underwater. :) Like I said... awesome.
Thanks. Hope you can get it!
i know the 1/16 scale summit just came out but you should make a video of the 1/16 scale summit vs the 1/16 scale e revo.
I was using 7cell 8.4v NiMH batts in both trucks.
LOL
I love that pulling test you did.
Nice vid.
I have the white Summit to and love it. Does your truck crawl good that high? Mine is still low but it climbs good
I like it set higher because of the look. And also because it can drive over bigger rocks with high suspension. I haven't noticed that much difference either way.
The E-Maxx is all about speed and jumps, the Summit is all about crawling and muscle. great video
ive got the same problem on my BL, i think its just that the axle has loosened from punching the throttle and when you turn it causes extra stress on it, making it click
hey i was wondering if you put the duel motors in the summit will it be faster and still have pulling power and be water proof all at the same time?
Here's a bit of trivia for you all... The reving engine sounds at the beginning of this vid are actually a Lotus Esprit and a Lamborghini Countach. The exceleration sound is a 12 cylinder (V12) Lamborghini engine doing a 0-60 speed test. It gets there in 1 shift. :)

Just something about taking it through water and dirt alike and driving along a nice trail worry free that appeals....and all that torque. It's almost perfect in stock form.
You should make another video with the brushless versions of both
That's pretty much what the comparison is for... so many people kept asking what the differences where that I made this video to show them. :)
jestlag I spend a lot of time on youtube watching rc models movies, but yours are the best.I think You must put a lot of hours working at this movie and others but it was worth it,believe me.
Love your vid man got to love the summit

thats not far from me at all.
yea i only have a vxl stampede.
i plan on getting the summit within the next year or so. so how many rc vehicles do you have total.
anyway what song is playin when the pulling starts
If you put 2 titan 775 motors on the Emaxx I think it would wheelie, but I haven't tried it.
@jetlag2222 And how have they held up? Anything broken? If so what? Your post was about nine months ago. What would you recommend switching out for the conversion having ran it for awhile?
Awesome video
what Batteries are u using on your E-maxx
@jetlag2222 What is your ESC for the twin Velineon 3500?
Do the E Revo brushless vs the Summit brushless!!
Did you figure it out yet? I just saw this. lol.
what truck do you think I should buy? I really like the summit but it's not so fast as the e-maxx, and I don't know if I wont to put so mutch money on a rc-truck as the summit cost + extra batts and a better charger, I would really like our help jetlag:)
have u tried the mamba monster in the summit
wow the summit is awesome!!!
you should do an e-revo race
also are tenergy batteries good?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
How do you get your e-maxx to wheelie of the line cuz i use 8.4s with the biggest shock spacers in and mine doesnt wheelie did you double up your spacers or something?
Yeah that's a great truck. I have driven one. they have the flux ESC which is the same as the Mamba Monster. Really powerful!
@jetlag2222 I thought it did, but it was jus really unexpected to see that. I have a Stampede VXL 2wd and I want a 4wd, but dont want to get another Stampede. any recommendations? I thought about a summit but the VXL is just too expensive. Im kinda likin the Emaxxx=
what battery are u using.......... is the white adapter water proof because i have a veneum battery and i am not sure to put it in water
My 16 month old and I just enjoyed this video very much and sub'd you...we rock an E-maxx with Mamba 2200...Highly recomend it with some lipo power...you'll fall in love with your maxx all over again!!! ; )

Pretty sure grass is least fair surface for the Emaxx?
Are both of these trucks stock? What batts are they running?
Thanks dude! appreciate the kind words. :)
not really fair test is it.
E-Maxx build for speed and jumps and light terrin
SUMMIT build for climbing
put a SUV like suburban vs a 4x4 jeep not really a test
kool vid i got a e maxx for free it just needs the motors got any ideas on it im use to rock crawling
The song in the background at the beginning is a Pantera song. I have a lot of R/C stuff. Just watch all the videos. I don't bother to count them. lol.
hey you have kershaw 700 in that e-maxx right? can those work with the stock evx-2? Im ready for more power but not ready to lose waterproof
Isnt the second song motley crue?
awesome vid, do you know you have a typo in the title? is says vx instead os vs
is the emaxx the mmm or the brushed one?
Which batteries are you using there?
6-cell NiMH, 7-cell or 2S LiPo.
I have a 3905 E-Maxx and it don´t wheelie at all on the grass with my Venom 6-cell NiMH 3000 mah, only with reverse.
how do u think summit tires would do on the rustler vxl and what size mm hex nut would it need to fit
Yeah, I had him adjusted kind of low for racing, so I should have jacked the shocks up a bit before that clip. It would have helped him out a little.
how do u get your e maxx to pull wheelies so easy, stiffin the shocks or what
oh wat are some ways u can make a e maxx go faster with out going to brushless and spending to much?
was the speed in slow motion?
wat are some good batteries for the e maxx if you hill climb and bash lots and go fast
are E MAXX comes with batery charger?? i mean wall charger included?? sorry my bad english
Durning the crawling part, why is the E-maxx set so low? The A-arms are level with thte ground. Normaly they aren't
they are on my trucks too. That's to help stop motor interference with the radio. very important.
i have a question i have the older emaxx
in great shape is it worth tradin it for a slash
great video man. does the E-revo go fast then the E-maxx???
not sure.. .I haven't driven one, but they look fun.
well it depends what motors you put on of course. If you're talking about the twin 970s from Kershaw then yes it will go faster. I just got them and will be doing the upgrade very soon. The manual says they can push the summit up to 35mph. And they CAN run in water. In fact the way you break them in is by running them underwater for 1 hr.
Yes, the E-MAXX is still a huge favorite out there. I know I love mine.
can you put the t lock on a emaxx brushless
Why is it all in slow-mo? =(
wat about e-revo tires or do u think it would be better if i just put stampede tires on it
what car would you recomend for all around bashing?
hey jetlag i have a very serious question do the 2009 traxxas su mits come with a battery charger please i need to know thx
rofl. woah there big fella, nice shooting. lmao!! Yes you are right. Some people have a hard time adjusting to the fact that the Summit is just plain bigger, stronger, lower geared, and provided with better traction than most other trucks out there. Thanks for your kind and gentle explanation for everyone. :))
