hi my name is Kim this is not the easiest thing for me to do because it's hard for me to stay off the drugs but I'm trying real hard and I'm at it again and I'm just trying to stay clean and imma do it this time I had a year in 10 months I want that back but I know the journey is going to be long and hard and I'm willing to do this so I'm going to keep on listening to all the speakers because I don't go to meetings like that cuz I need rides I live in Hartford Connecticut and I'm trying my best to do what I have to do thank you so much for letting me hear your stories

Kimberly, I have been through a similar experience as you and also relapsed.
I was clean for about the same time as you but I wasn't really doing anything to get well. I only went to meetings and I was thinking that, this is enough and because I'm going to 2 / 3 some days, then I'm really doing well. Thing was, I wasn't changing and I'm still the same person that used. Only difference was that I was not using drugs. But, it's always gonna happen as the person who I am is a person who uses.
So, meetings were only holding me for a while and I ended up using.
28 years that same thing happened for and I couldn't see why. I never ever heard about the programme and the steps. People said, 90 in 90, which isn't anything to do wirh it. A judge sentenced someone to this and not in the book. Saying that as you said, you had an issue getting to meetings.
Meetings are important but the most important thing is to work the steps. This is a guarantee to staying clean. I relapsed at least 40 times and then, when I got a sponsor and did the steps as I am supposed to....... I haven't just not relapsed but I've also got the other benefits promised to me. Never thought that I was going to get and stay clean for over a year or so. Always relapsed then. I've got qell past the year now and I am shockingly happy too.
Life without drugs looked a boring prospect and I'm not a person who the drugs stopped working for either.
I used for 36 years and I was broken in all ways, and begged a power that I didn't believe exsisted, to prove me wrong and help me.....
I'm not religious and the programme isn't but I believe in a power greater than me. All the book says about the power. I did what my sponsor did. Worked the steps in 3 weeks as I was dying and I couldn't afford to listen to the majority who say, take your time and start steps next year.
Would a cancer sufferer wait a year to have treatments to save them. ?
Remember that, this is my experiences and I had already waited decades.
I know that, working the steps pronto. Get a home group and a commitment in a group and help others. Guaranteed to work. You deserve it.
If u want to get clean, and don't want the high cost. Of low living.. You're at the right place.. Just so u have the desire to stop using.. We r willing to help and love u unconditionally until u learn to love yourself.. Love u.
How I became the stop drinking expert was firstly I went to rehab and whilst in there getting a bit of time up without using any drugs or alcohol I realised I can actually live life without this crap and a dam good life also. No more hang overs feeling like shit having to apologize to everyone for my behaviour the night before no having to be around people that use abuse lie steal and cheat of you.. Thank God..
I don't even do meetings because there is too many dickheads in the rooms.. You can do this also don't give up.. Peace Freedom Love..
If you're able to stay clean and not through a spiritual awakening as a result of the steps, then you're not an addict
