If your DIY CNC is missing steps. Is it grounded properly?

  • When building my first CNC machine I made sure I used shielded wire for the wiring and grounded each stepper motor. If these 2 things aren’t right with any CNC it will miss steps with the interference that will be present. This video is discussing these issues.
    This most likely will not be a problem with a manufacturer built CNC as they would know this.
    I hope this helps you in your CNC journey.

    may i know how to solve my Z axis .. seems like missing step or suddenly go deeper

      Sure if I can help I will. There are other things that can cause that like trying to run it to fast is probably the most common especially since you say all of the sudden

      I have exactly the same problem with my Z axis. I'm using UCCNC on my Stepcraft D840

      I just saw I never responded to this. I hope you figured it out by now. My thought is that it wasn’t homed correctly

    Would this information work in arduino based cnc router ? Z axis does not return to the origin height.
    And sometimes it returns same origin but sometime does not.

    • @Studtguitars
      @Studtguitars  2 месяца назад

      Yes I built mine with an arduino. If it’s not grounded they interfere with each other. I always home it before I start it. When I forget that can happen. Is it off a lot?

      @@Studtguitars I just have grounded only vfd.
      But arduino did not.
      And one more question sir.
      Can I use arduino uno in my commercial cnc ?

    • @Studtguitars
      @Studtguitars  2 месяца назад +1

      I really couldn’t answer that question without seeing it but the arduino is just a controller so you can control stepper motors but what else you’re using I couldn’t say. I’m assuming you’re not trying to control servo motors although you probably could. I have no experience with servos

      @@Studtguitars no I'm not using servo motors, I'm using stepper motors.

    • @woodworkingandautomation
      @woodworkingandautomation Год назад

      @@Studtguitars Yes it is all about material changes, not tool changes. If you have to make many, then it is much better to make an automatic system to load and unload the material from the machine.

    • @woodworkingandautomation
      @woodworkingandautomation Год назад

      and you can also bypass the tool changes, which are expensive and time consuming in most cases.
