    My dog eats only human food (not inclueding things that are bad for dogs) dinner leftovers and boiled chicken meat (with guts and vegetables) I have never fed her pet food (when I tried once she looked at me with dissappointment and didn't touch it). She is fit, and healthy, 15 years old and still kicking strong, my vetenarian is always impressed by her shape and he knows her since she was a puppy so he knows how old she is.
    But then again, she is a mongrel from Polish countryside so she is no delicate flower haha. :D
    Also she is a medium size dog so she is lucky for not having any heart or bone problems, or any genetic deseases or disorders like so many pure breeds or just less lucky doggs in general.
    I still love her very much and hope that she still has many years to live. :D

    Have you seen the tilted dog bowls for flat faced dogs like Frenchies? It helps them reduce the amount of air they gulp when eating.

    Thank you for sharing this recipe and making this video. I made it and our puppy was not digesting the peas after a few batches I stopped adding them. We have added calf liver from the butcher that we cut up into cubes after we cook it. We don't add fillers and he eats 1 cup at 8AM and 1 Cup at 8PM. On the weekends we add 1 over easy egg on top. I make a smaller weekly batch. THANKS, no more tear stains or snoring for our frenchie with this recipe. For supplements we add the vitamins, omegas and probiotics oooo and a supplement to reduce allergies.

    For thousands of years dogs ate real food real meat . Then in recent decades companies came up with kibble as convenience and a way to sell left over rotten meat. Pet food is under regulated. A lot of pets died during the pet food recall of 2014. At that time I was buying Wysong which was among the top quality pet foods w/Dr Wysong writing & giving away books with orders. They were so well trusted. I even got the Wysong shirt. Then the recall happened! I won’t go into it but suffice to say Wysong was not the without sin. The guy was rude, hypocritical, hid the recall gor awhile, unsympathetic to dogs that died after eating a toxic poisonous mold. Their are archives of forum posts by Dr Wysong flipping out on people! Better business bureau has painful stories about customers calling Wysong for advice on how to check for bag numbers and representatives telling customers not to worry about it unless after opening the food it looks bad. Poor lady who had her own health (heart surgery) problems went and fed the dog the food. Could have avoided that dog dying. The stress the women went through engraved in my memory. I no longer trust, or have faith in any kibble. If you never heard of Wysong, they were the company that came up with a kibble process that could hold the shape of kibble with needing tons of grain by using gelatin like used in capsule pills.
    Their’s recently been raw pet food recalls. If the meat is not for people, not regulated for human consumption, then I don’t feed it. I feed my ferrets a soup mix recipe consisting of real meat main food, and keep Blue Buffalo kibble in their bowl for eating outside of dinner times.
    .

      it's scary the amount of recalls big kibble brands have, it is definitely under regulated. I'm so glad I now know what is going into my dog's belly now!

    do inform yourself abouth the vitamins and minerals that are eccential for a dog you can not just give your dog some meat and veggies they need a good balance in calcium/phosphorus if you dont give them that (what real dogfood calculates and mutch more) your dogs body will start stripping calcium from its bones until your dog can just break its bones look it up all meatsyndrome most people do not know what it takes to make your own dogfood
    a wolf would eat everything its prey eats and not just the meat so liver, guts, bones everything and all those elements are essential to his health

    Did any of the Frenchie owners consult a vet nutritionist? What about leafy greens and other cruciferous vegetables, fresh fruit like berries? Pumpkin is always recommended when dogs have gastro issues. My fur baby also gets sardines or anchovy oil for Omega 3s, kelp for his iodine, and bone meal powder (has an ideal ratio of calcium : phosphorous), as well as some organ meats. In general, though, fresh food is better than food that doesn't perish for years, whether for humans or fur babies, imo.
    What are the large, crunchy treats that you give Mabel?
    Re Royal Canin, totally agree. Some veterinarian schools employ professors who are paid by Royal Canin to promote their products; however, they do not disclose this fact to their students. The pet food is often being recalled.

    dogs are not supposed to eat that huge amouth of vegetables, and especally not starchy vegs like potatoes. what even is a filler? beans, wheat, things that go through the dog's body not giving him ANYGHING? what's the point of giving it to the dog then? just buy lots of different kinds of meat, organ meats like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, spleen, add one egg on top and you're good to go. a dog is not a baby, it doesn't need 20 different vegs and fruits...

Shes been to the vet they say its gastritis..they gave her meds it worked for a while, Im thinking of ditching the kibble and feeding her real food. Maybe she cant stand the kibble? She ate Royal Canin from the start.

    Hi. Did u run ur Frenchie diet regiman by her vet before feeding it to her? Cause I see a few gassy type of veg food in the dish like beans, broccoli and other starchy kinda food like peas and mashed potatoes. Bulldogs hav a propensity to become gassy from what food they eat.

  • @Brynne221
    @Brynne221 4 года назад

    You don’t need to cook the turkey. Your dog can eat it raw. You should also add raw meaty bones to her diet. If you’re going to feed raw you also need organ meat. There’s too many vegetables in the food. I would take out the peas, potatoes (both of these are just filler and can cause heart problems in dogs), and the cauliflower. I would also add more meat. Raw eggs are great for dogs. This food is much better than the Royal Canin, but there’s still too much veggies in it. Her diet should be mostly meat.

    I feel like this video came just in time! We got our french bulldog in November and he had stomach issues (hacking/dry heaving) 2 weeks after we had him! I stopped any treats we had been giving him and wondered if it was his food from the breeder (Fromm family puppy chiot). I asked the vet and she said to switch him gradually to Purina Pro Plan. Then my sister told me this is TERRIBLE for dogs especially frenchies. I couldn’t believe my vet had recommended this to me! I then had to switch to Blue Buffalo brand(chicken and brown rice puppy formula). He literally used the bathroom every two hours in the middle of the night which I concluded this formula had way too much protein for him.
    I just made this recipe that you posted for our little Pablo and he loves it. Fingers crossed he keeps it down as he eats so fast! 🙄 he’s definitely not a picky eater and eats anything he can get his mouth on!!!
    Thank you again for this post 💙

    • @lulusketches
      @lulusketches  6 лет назад +2

      I'm so glad this was helpful!! I'm shocked your vet would recommend Purina, seems like such a basic brand haha. Also you mentioned dry heaving- could that possibly be a reverse sneeze? Mabel reverse sneezes and it's a normal thing that lots of breeds do, you could look up a video of what it sounds like! So in case the heaving continues maybe it's just reverse sneezing. And I hope this recipe works out for him!! :) You could join the Fab Frenchies facebook group too, whenever I have a question I can make a post and a ton of experienced owners help me!

      Don't feed Blue Buffalo. The lawsuit with Purina they actually had by-product meal despite them saying it doesn't. Purina also got sold to General mills you can now find it in the store. I personally don't have a french bulldog I have a husky but she has a very sensitive digestive system. I recommend for allergies and sensitive stomachs Zignature. To figure out the problem I give a very bland diet of boiled chicken and rice, and then start incorporating dry food. This recipe was amazing! I'm going to cook it for my dogs birthday

    Cooking the meat gets rid of the necessary amino acids dogs need. also, fillers are unnecessary and the processed potatoes are carbs which only work to lower the pH of a dogs stomach would make it harder for them to digest certain foods. there should be a bone aspect as well as phosphorus and other aspects. You'd be doing a whole lot better if you didn't cook the meat, for one.

    My 11yo Frenchie just passed in August of 2017. RIP Lilly! Anyway, I can attest to a diet like this. I started feeding her a meal very similar to this, without any guidelines such as this (I got her in 2006). I really just used common sense as to what she needed. Their dietary needs really are pretty similar to our own. Lilly's skin, coat and overall health was very lack luster when she was younger and a very expensive breeder recommended kibble (Royal Canine). After years of terrible skin allergy and worrying myself sick about her..... I started her on beef, chicken (rotated), brown rice, yams, carrots and peas. Sometimes a little yogurt (but it gave her terrible gas lol). Not only did she actually start getting excited at mealtime, but her allergies almost completely went away, her coat was shiny and soft and her overall health and energy level improved 10 fold. Mable is adorable and so lucky to have a mom like you! Thank you for being a responsible Frenchie owner. They are pretty high maintenance, but they are completely worth it!

    👍 for taking time cooking your dog’s food. I really admire people who takes good care of their pets as it is a great responsibility to have one and sad to say I’ve been seeing a lot of maltreated pets these days.
    Just a question, you think it’s also possible to give her rice sometimes than mashed 🥔? Also, if it’s mashed potatoes is it possible to use fresh potatoes?

      thank you! yes, rice could be used instead, or fresh potatoes, or sweet potatoes.

    So grateful for this vid. I'll be getting my own frenchie soon and i really dont trust dog food vets suggest. Its all about the money and not about our fur babies! Just doing a bit of research on the different meals i can potentially prepare for my baby. Thank You!

    Hello! Just wondering if you could tell me how much to give to a three-month-old puppy?

    • @lulusketches
      @lulusketches  6 лет назад +2

      hi! I would recommend looking at how much dry food your puppy would require based on its weight (you can look this up online) and then for this fresh recipe, take that number of cups and multiply it by 1.5 to 2. Dry kibble expands in the belly and this fresh food does not, so a dog can eat more of the fresh food. Also puppies eat more than fully grown dogs so don't be surprised if it's a pretty big amount! :)

    Hi Laura! I don’t know if you will see this but I wanted to know how Mabel has been doing with this diet since the beginning! I will be a new Frenchie owner at the end of December and I want to make the best decisions for my dog. How did your vet react to the diet when you told them? I hope you see this post! I love all your videos! ❤️❤️❤️

      Cody Henriksen we’re on the same boat!! 😊 Hope she sees this. I also was wondering what the vet would say about this diet. Seems so healthy though and I would much rather do this for my soon to be pup.

    Cook the vegetables they are much easier to digest for you or your dog 170F cooking is what 'raw' coking calls for. Uncooked vegetables go bad quickly at room temperature and don't last long when cut up like those packaged mixed vegies in the fridge (not frozen). Slow cookers cook at ~170F as does sous vide. Even Crudités vegies should be blanched before serving.

    Hey Laura! How is Mable doing on this diet? Are you still feeding her the same recipe? My frenchie is having a really hard time with any kind of dog food recently (10mons olds). Very upset stomach even after switching her to Royal Canin gastro. She’s also not wanting to eat her dog food, no matter the brand or “mix/recipe”. She’s constantly going after my pitties food which is 4Health (tractor supply brand) and I just don’t understand it. I’m hoping this recipe will be exactly what she needs! Please feel free to give me any info/advice about this type of diet. Evie (my frenchie) and I would greatly appreciate it!
    P.S. we both love watching your and Mables videos 😍.
