I have been trying to make an effect like the blue wave, spent more than 1.5 hours watching different videos, and finally succeed within 10 minutes after watching this video for 5 mins.

Btw, just in case anyone's not aware, in the Saber Effect Controls you can open up the "Render Settings" and set "Composite Settings" to Transparent to remove the solid fill instead of using the screen blending mode. You can also use the add blending mode. Just keep in mind that all of these methods will produce slightly different looks, so play around with it till you get what you like.

1 - how can I loop it? Alt clicking on a stopwatch and use loopOut(), ok, but which stopwatch should I click?

Excellent tutorial! Today is literally my first day using after effects, and yet this tutorial was still in-depth enough for me to make the entire neon effect with no prior knowledge. I also realised that you can change the glow type to different ones (I used proton effect) and it turned out amazingly : )

I think it works better if you precompose your first 2 waves and then use that for your "floor" reflection, that way if you ever edit the mask paths or animation, everything reflects properly still.

How do you get rid of the black background? once I use this effect on an image, it darkens everything but the glow line - therefore my image I am adding it on top of is no longer seen. Help please :)
Precompose all layers then in blending layer ,select ADD
Nothing happens when I double click on Saber and when I drag and drop the effect on my path it just turns into a big black square? Any help?

Hi , I wasn't able to get a neon effect on my shape after I switched it to a layer mask it was just as it as, What should I do?
Make sure your layer is selected before you select the pen tool and make your path. If it isn't, a separate shape layer will automatically be created and it will do exactly what you say your problem is. Also make sure you have your layer selected when you double click the saber plugin as well.
You need to create a solid layer in the beginning with CMD+Y

Can you do animation tutorials based on the ones available on Behance and Dribbble??
Instead of creating 3D layers for the reflection you could simply keep it all 2D, duplicate the layers and scale in the negative and adjust height in the negative too. Just a thought , keep it up dude

If you mean it is not transparent, do "Render Settling > Composite Settings > Transparent" in saber settings

I tried following the tutorial but am stuck at the very start, I don’t see the path while using the pen tool and upon applying the Sabre effect and setting the core type to layer masks the light saver doesn’t conform to the path. What do I do? I’m confused. A little help would be appreciated😅
