I’m really impressed by your optimism. No matter what happens, you always seem to be able to turn it into something positive. That very inspirational and probably the only way to do what you two are doing for years. Thanks for showing us that! ❤️
Wow, I got a little emotional watching the shots of the finished room with Lou saying that he had a clear vision of what he wanted it to look like, and accomplished that. It's just so beautiful and so special. I'm inspired to take on more projects that challenge me because of the work that Lou (and Dana!) is doing. Congratulations!
Kate, thank you SO much for this comment ❤ we are so happy and humbled we can inspire you to tackle more creative projects!! can't tell you how much that fills my heart to read!! We wish you all the very bet with them!!
Despite the definite stress that comes with building things, both Dana and Lou are always focusing on the positive and I wish I could do that. Amazing job you guys!
That bedroom is looking so homely and put together. What a difference it makes when all the sideboards are installed. Your home is really coming together . Sending blessings ❤
It really is amazing how much a difference it makes!! Thank you so much for being happy along with us ❤ Hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday, Rebena!
Thank you for celebrating with us, Oda!! And glad you like the transitions, they are so fun to edit but its always funny to know how much time that was cut, haha! ❤
I will forever love watching Lou and Dana create this amazing world around them. I always wear my grit rock necklace I ordered. The creative juices never run dry on this channel. I applaud the positivity no matter what.. ❤
I read the description… twice! I totally get you!! My partner and I live in the wilderness of northern 🇨🇦 on a gravel road in the middle of nowhere. Maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but professionals are usually not willing to travel off the beaten path which means we have become DIY-ers!!. This has its obvious disadvantages, but like you have shown in all your recent videos, it presents us with a huge opportunity for learning and skill building. When I bought my house I did not know a stud from a joist, nor did I know much about water, heating, ventilation, insulation, and other key things such as clearing snow off roofs, plugging in the heat tape in the pump-house, draft-proofing, wood cutting, wood-fired outdoor boiler maintenance, etc. It is amazing how much one can learn and do when they apply themselves to the task at hand… of course, the internet and knowledgable and experienced friends can be hugely beneficial!! I am loving your videos!! Seeing all this awesome progress must feel incredibly empowering for you. I know the feeling!! Thanks for sharing… let’s hope winter is on its way out!! Ⓜary💕🌲
Yeeeess totally resonate with everything you wrote!! It's tough with all the DIY but the knowledge and experience and joy of learning is a nice pay off for the extra effort and time :) It's really inspiring to read your messages with all the knowledge and advice you have collected!! Thanks so much for following along and being so encouraging ❤ Big hugs to you up north!!
Truly wish I could like this video a million times! And while I’m at it, I’d like the description a million times too! What a spectacular endeavor, hats off to you Lou! Thank you for continuing to share this journey with us, it’s an honor to watch this all come together. Sending lots of love to you all ♥️
Aw!! Thank you so much, I am smiling ear to ear reading your comment, will definitely be sharing with Lou later :) Thank you so much for the encouragement and sending love, sending plenty right back!! ❤
It looks amazing!! I’m enjoying this so much. Honestly the joy that comes over me when I see you’ve uploaded again. Such a good job as always. Cannot wait to see the next project
Lauretta!! That is truly so special--it means so much that feel joy when you see we have uploaded ❤ That is honestly so motivating to read. Thanks :) Hope you are having a beautiful week so far!!
This first container is turning so well ya'll!!! We are so grateful to see all the process and hard work you have been putting in to this! Lou thank you for the motivation, and for making us keep going no matter what! Sending big hugs to all from Bulgaria! Love, Nat,Stan and the cats!!!
Will you do periodic breakdowns of how much the shipping containers cost to build? I am thinking about building something similar and would love to know the cost (and the amount of time) spent on each aspect. Thanks so much for. Putting out this content. I love seeing you both evolve, change and grow, from berlin, to vanlife, to sailing life, hawaii to homesteading. Its inspiring.
The positions of the windows are perfect for the scenery and especially the light. Installing the insulation by far should keep the bedroom warm and comfortable year round. Great ideas to behold.
ohhh my, I cant wait to see a bed and some rugs or pillows or whatever your plan is to make it cozy in there. That is some serious insulation!! I like how you’re using the spray foam for its efficiency, and then still put a layer of natural materials between yourself and the chemicals. Fantastic idea, I might do the same thing if I ever manage to build a cabin ❤❤
Yeeesss so excited for that part too!! Thank you so much for the kind words and sharing your excitement, it put such a big smile on my face to read!! Big hugs from all of us ❤
this series is really reminding me of the van build all over! love tuning in to see what updates have started/completed and also its just really nice to witness your amazing storytelling
Congratulations on the success of your hard work. I love that you imagine, research, research, educate yourself, brainstorm, focus, educate, and constantly learn from your mistakes. That you imagined the space and create it is so thrilling. Love your smiling excitement at your accomplishments. Celebrate. This is your legacy home. I continue to pray for your success. What a truly wonderful gift for your family. Best wishes. 💐
Hey This video looks much better edited!! Well done Lou! I see progress not only in the build but also in your editing!! amazing! Keep it up.. So great to see all the work your doing
I enjoyed seeing you so happy. You have a beautiful family. Your wife reminds me so much of my daughter. I miss her greatly. I think I’ve commented that on a previous video of yours. God bless you and your family always!!
The wooden inside looks absolutely gorgeous! What a dream to work and life in such a stunning place. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and dreams. One day I hope to build my own version of an off grid home.
Thumbs up for the effort you guys put in, but personally if I was undertaking this type of project I would build something like a log cabin with a stone fireplace and an elevated bedroom area. I think overall that concept would be more in keeping with the surrounding area. Good job though on what you've achieved so far :)
I am building a container home also. Where did you get the spray foam material and sprayer from? Also jow much do you think it cost you to do a single container? Thanks
My little dandy (5 and A HALF!) has been waiting so patient for her weekly video watching with me. Please try and explain to her why snow in upstate doesn’t fall from the sky but rather from the ground to the sky ❄️
Good job guys! the frames and walls are very close nit. I have a question, after a year, did you notice any condensation or moisture between the wool and the metal surface?
Great work, the final result looks amazing!! However I don't really understand why you use such wonderful natural material like hemp wool and wood and then put a big layer of chemicals on top of your before potentially recyclable steel container walls... Why not use steel, hemp wool, a thin layer of plastic foil to prevent the moist from going into the wool and then wood? Greets!
Nice job! Is there no need for a moisture barrier between the wood panels and the hemp insulation? Also, how does this result in an R value of 32?? That is preposterously high... Perhaps you meant an R value of 3.2?
One piece of information I cannot find is how many 600 board feet kits did you use . I’m assuming that was the foam kit size. I’d like to do a 40 footer and estimating two kits for a one inch layer.
Did you add any insulation to the floor, and if so how did you do it? I’ve heard of people putting sprayfoam under the concrete foundation or on the underside of the container. I’m not sure if it’s necessary.
Did you check that the sprey foam used was not flamable, as some are highly flamable, and a re banned here in the UK. Insurance Co's refuse to cover a property if it has the highly flamable spray foam,
I’m really impressed by your optimism. No matter what happens, you always seem to be able to turn it into something positive. That very inspirational and probably the only way to do what you two are doing for years. Thanks for showing us that! ❤️
Thank you, Rene, you don't know how much that means to read ❤
@@WildWeRoamcan you comment on WHY you didn't simply add more spray foam and cut it flush? Instead of doing the Rockwool insulation...?
Wow, I got a little emotional watching the shots of the finished room with Lou saying that he had a clear vision of what he wanted it to look like, and accomplished that. It's just so beautiful and so special. I'm inspired to take on more projects that challenge me because of the work that Lou (and Dana!) is doing. Congratulations!

Lou, you do such beautiful work. And you were so cute when you examined the spray foam and found it to be done perfectly. Well done!
Aw that is so kind of you to say, T Hardy, i will definitely be sharing your comment with him later!! big hugs from all of us ❤
Despite the definite stress that comes with building things, both Dana and Lou are always focusing on the positive and I wish I could do that.
Amazing job you guys!
Thank you, Jordan ❤ Sending you all the best with any creative projects you may be working on (especially during the tricky parts!!) xx

Thank you for celebrating with us, Oda!! And glad you like the transitions, they are so fun to edit but its always funny to know how much time that was cut, haha! ❤
It is so lovely to see Lou so pleased with his own work it gives me so much joy
Great job Lou!

Our Jøtul 602 has been a great little stove for our bus in NY.
Great job looks fantastic
You guys will get bored and move into like a canal boat or a igloo next week 🤣
It looks so warm. Well done, Lou.
No wires for light?

Awesome job!! Looks great!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Amazing! Job well done!
Its beautiful!
You guys are amazing and so inspiring. Question. What did you put the hemp insulation on top of the spray foam? Why not just use one or the other?
Interior turned out nicely! How did you insulate the floor?
Congratz!!
Incredible!!!!!
Love the video! Question… How did you insulate the floor?
👍 Awesomeness❣️😃
I am building a container home also.
Where did you get the spray foam material and sprayer from?
Also jow much do you think it cost you to do a single container?
Thanks
My little dandy (5 and A HALF!) has been waiting so patient for her weekly video watching with me. Please try and explain to her why snow in upstate doesn’t fall from the sky but rather from the ground to the sky ❄️
Ahaha this is sooooo cute! Thank you so much for sharing, that is beyond cute you watch together!! Big hugs to you both from all of us ❤
Good job guys! the frames and walls are very close nit. I have a question, after a year, did you notice any condensation or moisture between the wool and the metal surface?
nice work!
For cooling check out poor man's air conditioning. I did it in my wood shop and it works really well . Well do my house this year. Regards Arthur
Red Oak, good choice.
Greets!
spray foam
, followed by natural insulation sounds cozy.
Nice job! Is there no need for a moisture barrier between the wood panels and the hemp insulation? Also, how does this result in an R value of 32?? That is preposterously high... Perhaps you meant an R value of 3.2?
No electric outlets in it? Or wiring for lights
One piece of information I cannot find is how many 600 board feet kits did you use . I’m assuming that was the foam kit size. I’d like to do a 40 footer and estimating two kits for a one inch layer.
We are doing a container build as well. Can I ask what brand spray foam ? All we find is the kits for cracks….
What foam thickness you end up with .how many kits did you use. And how long is container, thsnkyou
Insurance Co's refuse to cover a property if it has the highly flamable spray foam,
So many things that are not healthy are banned in other countries, but America is like oh it's o k if our people are poisoned 🤦🏼♀️
What if you put in big windowsl doors would it insulate that well?
We are rebuilding after losing our home last spring in a fire. You may have already mentioned this, but what wood stove are you using?
i wish spray foam was available outside the US :(
Cool project but wonder if a more typical single cabin/home would have been better in long run and actually less expensive?
Lou, keep buying hempwool. Please 🙏 #StonersEatForFree!
Maybe next time add a thin layer to cure and then apply the second layer to the desired thickness?
Be nice if panels were hinged so the snow could slide off.
