I stay away from Microsoft/Google products because they're known to use customer data for marketing. Apple does not. So that's where it stands at the moment.
@@naodwalk Google only worked out a spec. The key exchange is purely P2P. They may help route where the key goes, like any other P2P service, but ultimately, data isn't transported through their cloud, it goes directly to the recipient.
@@naodwalk but I do agree with you in the sense that the E2E encryption spec is Google controlled. It's proprietary, and it'll be healthy for a standards body to work to get it in. Apple will probably collaborate with others including Google and others to get it working as the default implementation as it's something they both want.
Apple: introducing imessage pro 🤣
😢 must be nice to be able to be at the F1 in LV. Nice flex! I tried but was too $$$$ for me and the average person. But it is nice to hear your news. It's about time.
BLESS, now my family can chill out about being able to send me videos/pics on my new phone since I’m finally switching away from Apple’s black hole
Finally, a lot less blue bubble versus green bubble shenanigans, and more reason to not get an IPhone. So how we're they forced to do it this time? The EU, Google, users?
Finally, I can now blame myself + Verizon for keeping me trapped on iPhone :P (still my current preference until Sammy gets their foldable ish And One UI together)
The camera quality is terrible.
Are you shooting using an iphone?
This is Like USB C and Qi 2! This is just CRAZY!
You mean the two things Apple helped invent and donated their technology to create?
@@TimothyCribband yet they haven't used it in their own products???😐
@@mybadbroo MagSafe is Qi2 before Qi2 existed. It’s literally the MagSafe tech donated to the Qi consortium.
And Lightning was promised to be supported for 10years, a promise Apple kept.
USB-C wasn’t ready by the time Apple was ready to move on from 30-pin, so they invented their own port and then developed USB-C with the USB-IF. It’s well documented history at this point.
Apple went all USB-C for their laptops almost immediately. The first to commit to the port as the future of USB. What are you talking about?
@TimothyCribb nothing changed for usb c since apple put it in their first macbooks. It isnt more "ready" now than it was then,
@@michelbruns Lightning was invented first, and promised to be supported for 10 years.
USB-C came after, with technology invented by Apple donated to the creation of USB-C. Apple adopted USB-C immediately.
USB-C wasn’t ready when Apple moved their mobile devices and accessories to Lightning. At that point, they already made the promise to their customers and partners (all of those MFI companies who earn billions making accessories for the iPhone/iPad/etc) to keep Lightning for “at least 10 years”. As a customer, you bought into the iPhone knowing that you would have Apple keep that promise, and they did.
awesome! quick question though….wtf is RCS? 🤔😂
I'm so glad there is a thousand RUclipsrs to give me the same news 65 times a day.
*Just out of interest, what exactly is RCS?*
Basically better messages. Higher resolution pictures, reactions yk stuff like that
imagine iMessage, but on androids. same functions - higher quality media, read receipts, typing indicators - that are missing when texting via SMS
Just saying - it sure as hell better support the encryption... That's legit the key selling point lol.
Isn't the encryption the main point?
Most regular people don't care about encryption that much, the main thing is that this should fix the issues of images getting messed up, letting reactions work the way they should etc, making group messages with iphone and android users more seamless.
If only the RCS standard had E2EE
You may be thinking of Google’s proprietary extensions and servers for RCS, which is what they’ve been trying to force onto everyone. At least Apple is sticking with the standard, open protocol.
And the EU won’t force E2EE - they want a back door into your messages just like any other overzealous government.
Kinda, but more people would care about better quality pictures and videos than encryption. But Apple is working to get it working. But that doesn't matter, now that their wall garden is gone, there is no good reason to get an iphone over an andriod. So you can be happy with andriod users. As for me, I'll sit back and watch as the iPhone burns.
@@gabrielreisinger8047 from one walled garden to another. RCS on Android is just as proprietary and restricted to Google approved Messaging app. It’s why Apple is supporting the open standard, not Google’s proprietary extensions, and are pushing GSMA to adopt E2EE so no one has to rely on Google’s servers.
iMessage still has plenty of features that are better - competition is good - and it’s a platform that’s been supported and consistently getting better for well over a decade. Meanwhile in that same timespan, Google has gone through a dozen other “solutions” than have filled the Google Graveyard of Apps and Services.
Otherwise, finding joy in watching a competing product / company “burn” is pretty psychologically unhinged. Maybe your relationship to your preferred operating system or hardware is unhealthy…
@@gabrielreisinger8047The walked garden is gone? I thinkPeople are still going to get iPhones because of its integration with other apple devices.
And even if there aren’t reasons to buy an iPhone over an android one, I think they’ll still buy it because it’s an iPhone.
Carl really got into Apple's head 🤣
I JUST wanna be able to reply to messages, do reactions, and send hi res photos/videos 😅 most people i know turn their 'read' receipts off... And idc to watch you type
Great! (What’s RCS?)
Rich communication service
MKBHD is such a big deal that they released the F1 car at the perfect time for his video!
Carl Peinis the unsung hero here!
Finally, Apple invents RCS. Took them long enough...
Finally! This is all we need! People shouldn’t expect them to get rid of the blue and green bubbles or iMessage. They are still going to have those perks and things for iPhone users and there’s nothing wrong with that. However if we can get read receipts and the ability to send high quality videos and pictures to Android phones with RCS, that would be awesome.
End-to-end encryption would've been nice, hopefully they're working on it
I'm not a sheep, so I'll stay away from IPhones realm
LOVE THE F1 CAR IN THE BAC GROUND LOL
EU forcing apple to cut the SHHHHH. Maybe theyll have a worthy competitor against android in a few years
Luis Rossman is having a blast!
All the iPhone blue bubbles are a status symbol 😂
Status for what? 🤔
@@keimorgan5654for wasting your hard earned money on an overpriced piece of garbage, I suppose.
They should also add matrix messaging protocol
Only Google RCS supported E2EE and no way Apple was going to use Google’s RCS.
Google's e2e RCS uses the signal protocol, which is an openly published protocol, so there's not really a technical reason why Apple couldn't make their implementation compatible with Google's e2e encryption. It's not like they'd have to bend over backward to adopt a proprietary protocol on top.
Honestly this is super great! A while ago I switched to iPhone out of curiosity, and the only thing I genuinely hate is the limitations when texting Android users. It feels like I’m being punished for trying to use my phones most basic functionality 😕
I doubt most Apple users even know what rcs is.
Google said 800 million Android users use RCS, that’s less than a quarter of all Android users. Most Android users don’t know what RCS is either.
I just found out what it was, I was weirded out when I saw this on my last android phone thought it was solely a T-Mobile thing
@@OpinionatedOG184 It’s a more robust texting standard. It allows you to send higher quality video and pictures than with sms/mms, has read receipts and group chat. Google uses jibe over the RCS standard and that adds additional features like end to end encryption.
@@smellmelater What claim are you making here? That iMessage is built around the RCS standard? Also, explain how in 2011 when it launched that it was available to Android but Apple somehow “locked” it into iOS.
i think the bubbles not changing is great
Can't say it enough, but if you think about blue vs green bubbles you need to surround yourself with better people.
Finally! Its been, wait how long has it been?
First usb c now rcs. Apple must really hate the EU rn
I’m not surprised this is happening. I have a feeling this is being pushed out partly because of EU and the fact Apple is becoming a monopoly in US and other countries. They are making very difficult for competitors. Apple is kind of shady, to be honest..😊
Kinda? Completely I’d say. If anyone thinks
Apple is any less morally corrupt than other big tech then I’ve got some unicorns to sell you.
They didn't become a trillion dollar company without being shady or using practices that drive away Android users and even alienate them
@@cthulhuz0🤣🤣😭💯
...and we're also getting side loading in EU. Now I really wanna shift to iPhone🗣️
Meanwhile the rest of the world just going about their day on WhatsApp.
And that's okay. As for me in the US. I'm going to watch as the IPhone burns with no more good reason to get an IPhone over an andriod. At long last.
No idea why you think this is some sort of flex, WhatsApp is pretty inferior to iMessage and in America we actually have a history of getting unlimited texts - negating any reason to get a third party messaging app.
@@gabrielreisinger8047Keep your eyes glued I guess, because it’s not happening for a while. The iPhones superior OS, CPU, camera, battery and software support trump most/all from the android side
Keep using Meta - one of the actual worst companies on the planet and a literal danger to society in parts of the world. 😂
@@TimothyCribbcute, keep thinking that you are safe using any Internet connect device lol
Was hoping to see you at the Autodesk conference!
EU seems to be getting stuff done. Sad USA cannot do something like this.
I was thinking the same thing! EU did something that the USA couldn’t do. 😂
apples favorite word is "but"
This just feels like a reason for Apple to say they aren’t using iMessage as a way of controlling the market to governments
Except they aren't controlling the market anyway, especially not with iMessage. Apple doesn't even have the bulk of global iPhone sales.
I never thought this day would ever come
RCS but apple still going to have a catch-always Apple having a catch to it 🤦♂️
Not using Google’s backend isn’t a catch, it’s a feature.
I’m glad iMessage is standalone still
I'm glad i have a real phone
Android fans rolling on their beds rn
You wish.
poor ppl*
About damn time. The image and video quality is all we could really hope for. They were never going to let go of the weird bubble color segregation.
Very rare Apple W
Sounds like a DJI drone taking off! 😂
Nothing making the big moves that Samsung and Google are too pussy to make. Mad respect.
i like the green bubble, blue bubble. I dont shun those who dont have an iphone, but its still something i like
Tim Cook said last year "just get your mom an iPhone" if you don't want to deal with SMS. Tim Cook's mom should just buy an Android now.
I’m so glad this is happening BUT of course Apple will always have to make things a little different just so there is a comparison
With Apple there's always a catch, man.
Fine now we want facetime for android and universal airdrop 😂
iMessage is encrypted. SMS/RCS isn’t. The blue bubble isn’t just a status symbol despite how some people act.
(Oddly enough, never seen an irl iPhone user care, but have heard IRL android people complain about iPhone people caring)
Ok, so... Wouldn't that mean that most people don't care about encryption? If iPhone users don't care, and android users continue to buy androids... 🤷 We need to just get rid of iMessage and use the normal SMS app ffs.
Funny how a company that leans so heavily into privacy is supporting most of the features but excluding end-to-end encryption...
Key point is the fact that you can’t use game pigeon between iOS and Android. My friend group almost never uses it. but l know so many people who use it at my school. It will definitely keep a lot of teens locked into iPhones in USA. And not to mention the other iMessage exclusive features.
This should’ve also been on the album bruh
Literally nobody expected this🎉🎉
I can’t wait to go back to a Pixel when this happens. Video sharing in my family and circle of people was such a pain and nobody wanted to download a third party, so I had to go back to iPhone 15. I’m guessing this is gonna happen 9/2024 and then I can snag a Pixel 9 ⚡️💯
I feel like this is the tip of the iceberg! 🗻Great video, can’t wait for the updates
That camera definatly brightens your face now that you mentioned it. 🤣
Can’t tell if you recorded the intro 10 times to get the car passing at the perfect time or if the editing is just great 👍
Of course it should be alongside iMessage. Apple is allowed to deliver a special experience to their customers alone. What was fucked up was them refusing to support the universal standard so that iPhone users can send and recieve what RCS can, to make it a worse experience to use an iPhone when your friends don't have an iPhone.
Agreed!
Do you get offers to head product development at major tech companies? Your knowledge is vast and always current.
"theres no end to end encryption" oh so thats why theyre doing it
