Great job George.. Awesome video. Also Brilliant swithes are awesome and so are the controllers! Finally another review on Brilliant and what it can do. Well worth the money with great functionality!
Thank you. Much appreciated!…I’m glad I can agree with you again. Lol…that issue I had with not being able to add a couple controllers to HomeKit was frustrating. But they didn’t leave me hanging & they figured it out. I commend them for doing so. So now I can be back to a full blown love affair with everything Brilliant! Lol
I use a Ring 4 exposed to Homekit with HOOBS. The only reasons why I don’t switch is my because I LOVE my Brilliant display and I don’t have doorbell wiring at my front door. However, I am hoping that Matter camera support will roll out one day because Aquara and Brilliant said they both will use the Matter standard. So hopefully they will work together then. Keep up the good work with the videos. They are definitely helping me get my house straight!
Awesome to see you on here again! I wish I could be more open to the Google Nest camera…just can’t do it. I don’t want my HomeKit ecosystem ‘contaminated’. 😂 Maybe we’ll get proper doorbell with HKSV soon. Keep up the fight - and thanks for the content!
Wrt 24x7 recording, note that the Aqara G4 camera will save 24x7 videos *iff* you add a micro SD card to the Chime Repeater (which is inside the house, safe from everyone who has access to the doorbell). That option is only available if the doorbell is hardwired (which is not a surprise). I expect you could review that 24x7 video via the Aqara app (but not from the Home app), and they also say that in the future they'll support backing-up those videos to an SMB server under your own control.
The 24/7 SD card recording is definitely the most tempting feature for me. Feature wise, I feel they really listened to what a lot of us have been asking for, but again, it’s the design that keeps me away.
I’ve got the G4 and it works well. It’s the only HomeKit Secure Video doorbell out there that can be battery powered. Regarding the width of the doorbell itself, I don’t think that they could’ve done anything - it’s barely wider than the AA batteries I have powering it.
Yeah, I’m aware it’s the only battery powered HomeKit (native) doorbell. But that’s not a plus for me. I don’t like charging batteries & my customers don’t either. Also as I said in the video, I install these for people everyday. There is a huge percentage of people out there that the doorbell won’t fit anywhere that’s useful. So like I said, that’s why it’s not for me. But I’m glad your loving it. Hopefully it’s just the beginning for Aqara & outdoor cameras.
Hey George! Great video!! Glad you are feeling good 👍, missing your videos. I am in the same boat as you with regards to the Aqara. I love their stuff, but that size is too wide for me. I have the Nest Wired Doorbell with the Starling Hub and it works well. I love the setup right now 🔥🔥. Every video you make I’m making a purchase…😂
For me the situation with outside cameras with homekit support is pretty frustrating. There's actually quite a lot I like about Aqara's new G4 doorbell, and yet I don't think it would work well for me at my house. My house has two doors which I'd like to put a smart doorbell on. I could do a wired hookup with the Aqara camera on the backdoor, but I think this doorbell is just too wide for that spot. The battery-powered option might work great for my front door and there's more room there so I think it could fit there. But on that door the wide horizontal field of view is pointless (and is kind of a minus, actually). Also: All my packages are dropped off at the front door, so the fact that the camera cannot show the floor of my front porch makes it *much* less useful. I am almost tempted to get one and install it sideways, so that the wide horizontal view could become a very tall vertical view.
Yeah, You would be an exact case scenario for the situations that keep Me away from it. Some of the features are really cool, but the size & FOV override the rest for me.
Just bought the Starling! It’ll work with my cameras and Nest Thermostat (which I haven’t bought yet). Thanks for the recommendation. I love the Brilliant products-just have to save a little cash. #langabeerfightclub
when using starling, do i need the nest aware plan so it works with homekit? or does homekit work just fine, and nest aware is just for continuous recording (which i hope apple is finally rolling out)
Big boss I got a question what camera can I use with brilliant I just got the smart system with switch’s and got the thermostat and door lock that works with brilliant and I want to get a security cameras that work with that but really don’t want to pay a monthly fee
I'm with you. I keep going back to Nest.
Nest is like an ex-girlfriend I just can’t quit.
Great to hear you're doing well George...you like great!
Thank you! 🙏🏻✌🏻

Another honest review. Thanks for that. You’re looking great! Healthy and trim. So good to see!❤
Thanks Ma! ❤️

Nice. I’m looking forward to MATTER adding the camera integration as well. Thank you & I’m happy to help! 😋

I am very excited to give Brilliant a try in my new home!! Thoughts on eve products including cameras?
Love Eve! Their indoor camera is decent & their floodlight camera is awesome. Wish they had a regular outdoor camera though.

It unfortunately requires Nest Aware.

There are really only 2 options, Ring & Google Nest.
@@GeorgeLangabeer dam theirs that other one that company that bought Honeywell resideo
I don’t really consider them an option.
Ring needs a 24 hour recording option
Ring needs a lot of things. 😋
