- In this video, Sam takes a look at the latest version of the Fender Pro Junior, now in it's Mark IV incarnation, check one out here: www.pmtonline....
The popular Fender Pro Junior is one of the smallest, and definitely the simplest in their valve amp range, featuring just the two controls, volume and tone. But despite this stripped back design, it still offers a nice wide tonal range, delivering the same kind of tube warmth of it’s bigger brother, the Blues Junior, just in a smaller, simpler package.
Featuring a compact, lightweight design, the Pro Junior is a 15 watt combo fitted with a Jensen 10” PR10 speaker. There’s two 12AX7 preamp valves and a pair of EL84 power tubes, which combine to deliver lovely rich valve tones, ranging from sparkling, pristine clean to a mean, gritty crunch, which responds very dynamically to your playing, and the more overdriven tones clean up nicely as you back off the volume on your guitar.
Although they’ve been around for quite a few years now, for this latest incarnation, the Pro Junior Mark 4, Fender have made a couple of subtle tweaks to the internal circuitry. Firstly the volume circuit has been modified to allow for a more gradual, linear breakup as you turn the knob up, making it easier to precisely dial in the amount of desired overdrive. And secondly, the overdrive circuit has been re-voiced to offer a tighter bass response with improved clarity and note definition as you start to push the amp.
A really stylish combo, this version of the Pro Junior is finished in a lovely vintage looking lacquered tweed, with 50’s style grill cloth, leather handle and mirrored control panel with the classic Fender red Jewel power light and black chicken head knobs. It’ll look great in your home, sound fantastic in the studio, and it’s surprisingly loud, so you can even get away with using one for small gigs and rehearsals.

Impressive sound and demo. Playing many years with great gear far above my ability and recently discovered the neck pickup on my 3 Fender guitars!!
Gotta respect your honesty.
You kidding?
Great amp review/demo specially that if you have to ask , favorite RHCP song
I wish Sam would have a demo for every piece of guitar gear out there!
I appreciate the chili peppers grooves
Nice demo! That one riff near the end sounded a lot like the Oasis song Cigarettes and Alcohol.
Lovely crunchy sound
Good demo! But the thing is that you did not mentioned that at 4 it's already quiet loud! I use a power soak Bugera to add a Master as for the Blues Junior. Allows to increase the volume, going to crunch, to play it in a flat. Cool amp!
Obviously he didn’t want to over burden you with something you know already.
@@unclereg7713 lol!
Rhcp and oasis. I dig it.
jarrett finney it’s cigarettes and alcohol from Oasis ;)
Thanks for the review ! Is it possible to have nice clean tone at bedroom level with this Pro Junior ?
Yes, that’s basically what you get at bedroom levels, if not using an overdrive or attenuator.
Sounds great :)
will this be able to fit in the average suit case
what song you playing at 4min 40 seconds in ? love that sound
Its a damn good Amp .when you got someone that knows how to make it werk .
Its more like the champs Big Brother .. give it to a old dirty south Bluz Player .
I already have a blues junior...is it worth getting this amp
tony coles depends what you like or dislike about the Blues Junior. PJ4 will have less headroom and compress and overdrive at lower volume. That’s a plus to me as Im not in a band and I like to be able to play in an amps sweet spot without hurting my ears. I’d prefer the PJ for home practice and recording. Blues Junior for playing louder with others.
Put your Pro Jr. into a 12 inch cabinet with a larger speaker and your Blues Jr will collect dust.
DUDE....where's the bridge pickup in all this?Seriously, many players don't use the neck pup at all and some guitars only have a bridge pup...
Use mine (IV LTD) with my 1x10 Pick Taco, they kill together!
For me the best amp is The Fender Bassman 59
Magnificent amp but loud as hell. This one gets a bit close to it with less wattage useable in more circonstances. My dream is to have built by a professional point to point, some kind of mini Bassman head with 15 watt power and a 4 by 8" cab with a mix of alnico and ceramic Jensen speakers. Cheers!
Amen brother
Use your pick up selector
How loud is this clean in bedroom level?
clean is ok... if you want to saturate the tubes... not friendly at all
@@davicola9695 okay thanks for the info
This is not a bedroom amp. It's loud if you want to rock with it Very Very loud
Over 3 and I’m banned
Will I de-value my Pro Junior by changing the speaker to a Celestion Creamback?
not really, you could always save the original speaker and pop it back in before sale if that is what the buyer wants.
@@goran2608 Thanks Man
Jensen's are well known for there clarity and this amp breaks up early with a lot of crunch so I think it's the perfect match. The creamback is more round and less trebly, you might might loose note definition and get an unpleasant muddy sound. Just my opinion! Cheers
Thank you Rolf Harris
I always feel like I have to pick real hard with my ‘94
All we need now is captain jack on an sg and we have the pirates of PMT
You do realize the entire 5 minutes is on the neck pickup, please show the different positions for a full review.
S1 switch in on the Elite neck pick up is all 3 pickups on so sounds crap. Different positions would have helped. Not the best demo for this amp
That on/off switch is hideous
It's just a rubber cover over the traditional switch. It pulls off. It just has to be on there for CE certification.
@@thomaskissick1870 oh thank god!
It's very comfortable in use. So don't be so fast to chuck it.
@@PeterDad60 that’s what you tell all the ladies when you whip out the Big 2”🤣
@@ryanmoore2779 hahahaha
Good tone but made of particle board. Low quality construction, what a shame.
Not mine!
Sounds like he's gonna bite someone when he speaks 😂
Try harder not to be a dumbass
@@dougdavis8986 How dare you
More proof Ben. Keep trying.
@@dougdavis8986 what the hell are you still going on about? I don't even care about that comment. I'm getting a deluxe reverb 68 anyway
You aren't trying very hard. Still a dumbass!!!
