she looks so happy directing. this is her calling
Not enough commentary in this video to learn anything. Not Greta's fault.
That first part in the garden was one of the greatest things I’ve ever watched
Sergeantpaprika I wasn’t expecting such a powerful first minute lol almost cried
It was cringy as fuckkk
@@MrGreen-ci2mm what do you enjoy
@@kiana919 complaining probably
Not gonna lie I thought it was a little awkward to watch as well lol. But that's to be expected during filming with dozens of people watching you.
That opening clip with Greta laughing and embracing the spontaneity of the scene just about perfectly sums up my own experience with directing. It's a fluid, organic, often joyful process--at least, when you're working with the right kind of people. Man, I love watching her work. She's an utter inspiration.
Shamemus... Oh I'd quickly change that name... Shamess shamuss ,, One simply cannot be called such a ridiculous name!
David Poland not everyone has to be a famous director you know. I've directed too for school films, and am doing it again, and the original commenter is absolutely right, it is so much fun watching your visions come to life💖
@A IM we don't want your negativity 💛
@@countessofalava6532 I think she meant the Paul Henry
@@paulhernry4694 actually your name is more ridiculous
I want her to direct my life

it's so nice seeing a woman direct. i'm a film student and i always feel like i have to take on a more masculine version of myself on set when directing or whatever. it's nice seeing that you can be a woman on set and still be effective and make beaufitul scenes with meaning. seems obvious but seeing her direct is just so inpsiring. wish i could tell her in person
i thought the same as well. you always see directors being very serious and orchestrated, but with greta, she's kinda spontaneous and very collaborative with the people on set. she doesn't seem pushy, yet still has creativity and focus when it comes to what she wants. i can see why people like working with her
Yeah she looks like she knows exactly what she's doing. It's refreshing and inspiring to see women take up directorial roles in movie making, even if I'm a guy
@@peaches7487 Soyboy go back to pokimane and reddit
women can be masculine, but yes it is nice to have down to earth directors.
You can make whatever you make, as long as it's good. It doesn't always have to be about gender or masculinity. It's what pulls in the audience, you don't have to smother people with the more feminine stuff to make it NOT about gender either. We watch Chick Flicks all the time and we never say "Man that director was so masculine on that kissing scene!"
this is why we need more female directors
Elizabeth J thank you
Makes no sense great talent isn’t exclusive to a gender, that’s why we need better directors
Elizabeth J yes. Finally female perspective of life on screens.
There are and have been plenty of female directors out there. Try harder.
Ah. never ending women empowering inspirational talk. Just do it. No need to yackity yak about gender.
I love that the movie was filmed in actual houses and buildings instead of built sets.
The scene where saorise and timothee have sex was filmed at my friends parents house in her childhood room😂
Hunter Smalling omg in the 40’s? I live here I might know them!
Hunter Smalling OMGG CAN WE BE FRIENDS
@@worldstatistics8461 I-
Hunter Smalling wasn’t it in her brother’s room
I love how you can see her nametags throughout the video. She's mentioned in interviews that she had the entire crew (including herself) wear name tags throughout the shoot so people got to know each other's names, and I just really love that she partook in it too!
where?
And also in the tag there was an answer to a question that change every day so they get to know each other. For example I saw a pic of her directing with the tag Greta and Breakfast at Tiffany's, to answer the question: what movie you know you should like but you don't? That was a suggestion from one of her crew members i think :)
where? i dont see her wearing nametags
being on set looks so much fun. i really wanna be an actress one day.
gracie brewer Same
it’s not always this fun although I’ve never been on a set with her, I think Greta is known for being a particularly enjoyable director to work with
You can do it
Being on set is usually one of the most stressing experiences
Stanley Kubrick enters the chat
I absolutely love Timothee, but I hate how he gets so much credit over the others who worked just as hard.
Victoria Garces YES THANK YOU
Yes, I love him too, but he has a very small role (though well done) in this movie, so it’s slightly annoying that Saoirse is constantly asked about him over Beanie Feldstein or even Lucas Hedges who have much fuller stories.
Agreed. Tim has my heart but this is Saoirse's movie. Lucas and the actress who plays Saoirse 's mother deserves to have more credit
I love him. CMBYN is my favorite movie. But he didn’t even work as hard as the rest in the movie. He had a very small role.
No he is great and deserves acclaim
I admire and look up to every single person in this video
I don’t know why watching this made me want to cry. The score playing in the background and watching the crew at work... ✨😭
Aja LITERALLY lady bird got 10x more emotional for me ahhahshah.......
Would've preferred to actually hear Greta Gerwig talk instead of the music just playing over all moments when she is directing the actors.
i think she should get the oscar based only on this
tranquil Nice why do you think they showing this videos for? To make her win. or at least be in the favorites to win
she won't win though. totoro is at the peak of his game
That first minute and a half is the best thing I’ve seen in a while
This is my new favorite video. Wow. What Greta Gerwig does is so incredibly inspiring. Wow.
I love when filmmakers are passionate. I love when they appreciate their audience. Greta is my new inspo. This feature touched me ways that still sting until now.
So inspiring to see a young woman directing with such confidence and knowing what she wants. Love it. Here's to many more Greta Gerwigs in the future! (and many more movies directed by Greta, of course). My new idol.
my life goal has just become to be on one of Greta's sets
sherlocked12 same❤️
2:12 now THAT is the kind of emotion i expect a director to exhibit on set. the intensity of her face, man
it's this beautiful mix of pride as creator and emotional investment as audience member. i love it so much
first video that i dont mind the clickbait
Greta is just too adorable. It warms my heart seeing her so happy to direct. She’s got such a strong personality.
2:08 that scene I was sobbing in the theater
I saw this film at an employee preview screening, before it had been released wide. I had no idea what was coming, hadn't seen a trailer, it blasted my heart. I'm dying to know where Gerwig gleaned inspiration for the scene with Lucas and Saoirse behind the coffee shop. I burst into tears when I first saaw that. The scene still makes me misty.
If I could choose one person to yell at me... THIS WOULD BE THE ONE
Most of you have no idea what this movie means to hopeless high schoolers in Sacramento.
There are hopeless high schoolers outside of Sacramento ya know
lmao I live in sac
Anna Maria the movie is based in sacramento?…
ramona ya ik I meant the movie can be relatable to hopeless high schoolers outside of sacramento as well
ramona yeah it is
Why am I crying at the club rn
She’s taking it seriously but also having so much fun and laughing. Love that ❤️
All I can see is France Ha in her haha. Literally my favorite movie of all time, and totally relatable, gosh I must of watched that film over 20 times for real.
Oh I want to be a director so bad
Paula same
Go for it. It's a lot of work but if u are passionate about it then hang on to your ideas, learn the basics and shoot a movie :)
Mar5tin M so nice❤️ thank you. I hope I will some day.
Yes me too!
lettuce follow that dream together!
i’m convinced that greta gerwig is an angel sent from above
I came for Timmy, stayed for this precious team. I adore Greta omg.
Greta Gerwig, you're my hero. You inspire me with your masterful, acting, writing, and directing. Even though I'm not female, I look up to you and admire you. If I ever had the chance to meet you, I'd give you the biggest hug I could possibly give someone and say "Thank you for inspiring me." I love you.
She’s having so much fun doing it, like she’s just messing around, and yet the movie was directed so masterfully. Pure talent and creative genius.
Lady Bird is an absolute masterpiece. Definitely in my top 10 of all time. The way it speaks about family, friendship and human evolution made me instantly love Greta. Now I wanna marry her. Ok... bye!
i don't want this video to end!
this is so special to me, this movie and the aura and the homely vibes. i love greta gerwig
There's literally 7 seconds of Timmy and you can't even hear what she's telling him, adding his name in the title just to get more views, I see 😐
onlykismet It’s just so lame.
not really.
onlykismet well this video needed to be seen and if using him to make people watch and see it then that’s fine. More people got to see her directing style and what a pure soul and inspiration everybody in the cast is
Uh, no. He isn’t the star of the film, so to expect to see a lot of him in this clip is just odd and naive and dare I say strangely obsessive?
It worked 🤷now more people can see how amazing work Greta has done
Man, they are spot on with the early 2000s Catholic school uniforms.
this film score is absolutely beautiful. one of my favourites.
There was gold all throughout that cast. Ronan, Metcalf, Letts, Feldstein, Hedges, Chalamet, and if that's not enough, let's throw in Lois Smith and Stephen McKinley Henderson as school personnel and, with just a few minutes of screen time each, give them some of the best movie scenes they've ever had. Kathryn Newton and the actors who played Jenna, Miguel, Shelly were perfectly cast too. It seemed to be a movie everyone loved being part of and wanted to make special.
*Lady Bird* is my best picture even if it wasn't for the Oscars.
no one:
greta: COLLAPSE!!
She looks so natural doing this
what a cool, personal featurette
This video is just something. So inspiring. I’m sure Greta will create more and more masterpieces.
She's a fantastic director, she really knows how to get the very best out of her actors.
The director was a female?? Damn i swear to gawd, usually i wanted to go to an art field but discourage when mostly the succesful or the recognised artist are males... but i am very glad that this movie was directed by a women haha
I live in the 40’s and saw some of the blue house scenes being filmed and it was so cool! They looked like they were having so much fun!
You live on the good side of the tracks
my god i love her directing. so real and so genuine, not intimidating, not rude, real. she is delighted to be there and it shows. i'd love to be directed by greta one day.
I love her so much. She's really inspiring.
I see timothée , I click
A great director with so many good actors. Amazing!!!
I've only been exposed to this director for 7 minutes now I can already tell that she's outstanding and one of the best dot-dot-dot for trucks and her zeal translate to the screen I'm sure
She's got that creative hair
A perfect film. I've met so many Lady Bird's in my life but never saw them so perfectly represented.
she’s so gorgeous I can’t even
The times the music is playing are the times I really want to hear the directions she’s giving
just something quick: this move is noted 99% on Rotten Tomatoe!!
I’ve been rewatching this so many times (especially the very beginning in the garden). This is a very fun video
I watched this on New Years Eve 2017. I remember finishing the movie and then the ball was about to drop minutes later. It's the first and only time I've seen it, but I feel like I need to watch it again.
I love this movie, and i love Greta for making this movie and i love Greta Gerwig and all these amazing actors and the people who helped making Lady Bird
This is incredible. Thank you for sharing.
Greta is so cute and it warms my heart when she cries when she looks at the monitor 💓
She’s genius
the first scene in the garden is still my favourite scene ever to this day and it's not even the actual movie scene
Amazing!! This Video shows why I love the movie and Greta and all the actors and all about it so much!!!! 💖
i’ve seen this movie and this featurette a thousand times but it still makes me cry every time
I love hearing about filmmaking, especially from Greta and with the lovely Timothée and Saoirse!! Woohoo
Lol the last shot is so adorable
This video deserves an oscar
Not even one minute into the video and i'm hitting the like button first because i wanna see more of such cool stuffs
such a beautiful and inspiring film, made me cry I love everything about it i hope she does wayy more movies
Those first few minutes are so full of life and she is so beautiful in her element.
One of the greatest movies I have seen, I absolutely loved the moms acting
I dunno but I really love Lady Bird movie, and It touches my heart, I was so happy to know that the director of it was a woman 💖💖💖👏
Wow! Einfach nur beeindruckend und schön, Greta Gerwig bei der Arbeit zuzusehen! Und Lady Bird: ein ganz knackfrischer Klassiker, möcht ich mal behaupten.
Geez seeing Greta direct the garden scene made me so emotional. That’s what I want to do and I don’t know if I could settle for anything else.
I love the film score. Takes me home. I love this movie.
this makes me want to be an actor so much more omg
Love this movie❤❤ Love too see behind the scenes of movies and tv-serier❤❤❤

I have never been the same since watching this movie in 2018
Lady Bird is so special to me
truly such an emotionally beautiful profound piece of cinema
i was having goosebumps while watching this. the director was nice and she seems easy to work with.
How awesome is Jon Brion's music geeeez!!
When I feel down, I watch that film ♥️
The first moment of this video always makes me so happy :,)
This whole video makes me happy 😂
Me too 🌸
Wow greta gerwig makes directing look like such a fun and worthwhile thing to do
So fascinating! The film is a piece of art
What an inspiring queen
really using Timmy for clickbait, he's in the thumbnail and his name comes before Soarise Ronan and Lucas Hedges?
I mean I practically worship him but he has a supporting role in the movie and was in this video for about 7 seconds and you couldn't even hear what they were saying, not fair at all to the other actors.
It makes me cry. I love this video
I love B-roll !!!
that was amazin! i loved evry second!
Wow. This just made my day
Wonderful video❤❤❤. Greta Gerwig becoming one of my favourites
what song from the score is it playing at first? im abt to buy that mess
One of the best movie I've ever watched
I enjoyed watching this 😊
