I am a subscriber and have been following you for about a year or so and live in Glendale AZ. I need to find a power strip with a timer like yours. I haven't noticed them.
I’m so happy that I’ve found your channel! You have given me so much information that will help me get started planting seeds this year indoors. You have done an excellent job with your presentation, your video and tips. Love the tip about preparing the labels ahead of time! ☺️ Thank you so much 😊
Good job in this! It includes so much detailed valuable info. As someone who just started RUclips videos I can relate to how much time this took. Kudos to you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Last week I started seeds indoors for the first time. I tried collecting info here and there until I came up with what seemed a reasonable method. After watching this video I see that I am indeed on track (whew!). I appreciate all your videos and look forward to them each week, and I love my calendar! Cheers!
Thank you so much for this clear helpful video. You inspired me more on starting seeds indoors. I will definitely get the mats and the lighting set up. God Bless!!
Wow! I know understand a bit more of what I'm doing incorrectly. I have leggy seedlings. I'm hoping the heating mats will be enough for the new seeds I plant as our house is never 70ish degrees in the winter. more like 45 to 60. Thank you for this video!!
Hi there. I just found you and now hubby and I are watching your videos. All ready learned so much. I’m curious to know where you got the black plastic looking tops to your table you show. I’d love to find them. Thanks again.
Angela, Thank you for the video. Quick Question - where did you purchase the pulleys mentioned in the video at about the 3:50 mark in the video? I purchased the wire rack and one of the T5 Fluorescent Lights and want to mount it in a pulley system like you demonstrated.
Angela, our house in the summer is typically 78 degrees... is that too warm? You mentioned 70 degrees I think for the seedlings? I'm guessing while it's still hot we wouldn't want to put the heat mats under them, then? lol
@@GrowingInTheGarden TY! I wish we could afford to keep our house chilly during our desert summers, but that's not possible! I'm really enjoying your channel... not a lot of gardening advice geared towards the desert out there!
I have that same heat mat and I worry that it gets too warm for the plants to sit directly on top. Is that a possibility? When I touch it was very surprised how warm it gets.Maybe my mat is defective 🤔
Damn my arrogance, last season I start in January indoors with Basil and had Pesto by mid Feb. Now this season I'm waiting for 55F nights and hope it warm enough for a seedling. A very detail walkthrough for starting seedling indoors. God I'm idiot, a SYRINGE, genius.
@@GrowingInTheGarden I got the ones you had last year from Renee’s but I also bought the variety that Hoss Tools added to their selection. Very excited!
Hi Angela, would you recommend growing basil, cilantro and mustard seeds right now in PHX region. Can they be started outdoors? Can I grow them in compost directly or need to mix compost with native soil?

I have been learning that it’s best to start seeds from special soil mix (as you also said in this video) but if you start the seeds outside do you need to use that special soil or just the normal mix?
You start seeds in the garden soil. Some soil germinates seeds better than others. I love this soil mixture: ruclips.net/video/ANVhOvzfOqI/видео.html for my beds and seeds germinate really well.
No, because my indoor temperature is fairly constant. If you have your seedlings where the temperature fluctuates more (such as in a greenhouse) you may need one. amzn.to/39Q6rzF
Possibly. See how they continue to grow. The nice thing about tomatoes and tomatillos is you plant them deeply and roots will grow all along their stem. If growth seems stunted however, I would replant.
I did everything but the cover. They're still coming up. Good to know to drain the water, as I would have just left it. Proper watering is my weakest skill in gardening.

Great job. I especially like the wire rack setup. Plan on using that for next year. Thanks for such a well organized presentation.

Thank you. I have never started seeds because it is just the 2of use. After watching your video I may try it on a small scale. You inspire me to try.

Angela,
Thank you for the video. Quick Question - where did you purchase the pulleys mentioned in the video at about the 3:50 mark in the video? I purchased the wire rack and one of the T5 Fluorescent Lights and want to mount it in a pulley system like you demonstrated.
I looked and I can't find the order - I think I purchased them on Amazon.
Many thanks from St. George, UT for sharing all this helpful info! Do you ever do soil blocking? Is it any different (if at all) than seed trays?
I haven't done soil blocking, but it is also an excellent method.
Hi My Friend! Have a beautiful day! Like 121
Thank you! You too!
Awesome information 🪴
Could you elaborate more on how you decide to water your seedlings or hold off for now?😊
When the top is dry, then I water.
Great information, thank you for sharing.

Good point. 78°F is fine - don't use the mats.
@@GrowingInTheGarden TY! I wish we could afford to keep our house chilly during our desert summers, but that's not possible! I'm really enjoying your channel... not a lot of gardening advice geared towards the desert out there!
Could I keep it in the garage if I’m using heat mats?
Depends on the temperature of your garage. Heat mats usually only raise temps by about 10 degrees.
@@GrowingInTheGarden thanks for the response, I’m definitely bringing them in after reading that! Even cleared out some space in the guest room!
How long each day should you have a little fan going to strengthen the new seedlings?
I leave it on all the time - you can have it on the same timer as the lights if you don't want to run it all day
I have that same heat mat and I worry that it gets too warm for the plants to sit directly on top. Is that a possibility? When I touch it was very surprised how warm it gets.Maybe my mat is defective 🤔
It should warm it about 10°F higher - if it's heating more than that it may be defective.

I have the same organic kelp liquid fertilizer but I havent used it in a year. Its been in an humid but covered area - you think it is still good?
If the lid is on I imagine it would be fine.
@@GrowingInTheGarden I replaced the lid with a pump. It may not be as sealed but maybe I’ll just use it on non edible plants. Thanks for replying!!!
I took my humidity cover off just a little late and some of the tomatillos/tomatoes are slightly leggy. Is there a way to save them?
Possibly. See how they continue to grow. The nice thing about tomatoes and tomatillos is you plant them deeply and roots will grow all along their stem. If growth seems stunted however, I would replant.
Can i start my seedlings outside in a shaded area?
They would need light and the right temperatures. It depends on how warm it is outside for you. Most veggies need 70°F or more.

Where do you buy/purchase your seeds (seed company)🇨🇦
I get a lot of my seeds from Seeds Now www.seedsnow.com/?rfsn=275008.6345c
Do you have a video if using LED lights?
Would be similar steps other than the distance to the lights might vary.
Great
