Omigosh... I thank Jesus for you. I've tried putting my hair up so many ways and it always ended up falling because it was too loose. Unlike other hair tutorials, which took me like 20 tries to figure it out (and without success), this one only took me 2 tries to get it up. Thank you so much.
thank youuu!! i've never understood how people can use only a stick to hold up their hair, and now im making different buns with all my pencils and pens hahah. xox
Good too hear you found a way to make it with long hair. :) I am now close to waist length and can't make it work anymore. If I can make something that stays, it tug too much on too few strands.. Or I end up with a lot of tail on it.. :)
This happens sometimes to me too. I could be that you have a different hair texture, thicker or heavier hair or just more length. Some suggestions you might try: 1. Try to do it tighter. 2. If you watch the video you can see that the end of the stick just comes out below the knot when finishing it. Try catching a bit of the hair in the knot when exiting instead. 3. Weave the stick in the hair when inserting it. 4. Use a second stick or bobby pins afterwards to secure it. Good luck!
My hair stick is a bit too short for this. I seem to loose it when I try it. Haha. Alas! I shall just buy new ones. Oh wait, I think I already have some coming in the mail! Woohoo! :D
If it doesn't hang down too much, you could try just wraping the hair around the hairstick once or twice before you start with the turning. Google Mrs El knot, I think that version is better for longer hair.
Maybe you have too short hair, or you don't turn it right. Try do it the opposite way from me, I'm left handed so it might be easier to reverse it if you are right handed. Make sure the tension is right, not too tight but not too loose either. Try moving the stick a bit closer or further from the head.
really out of all videos i saw this one helped....even if my hair are curly and shoulder length!!! but i just want to know in the end you take the stick down from up (of course) but mine is the other way round...is it because my hair are short and does it make any difference??? and yes i can just twist them once while u do it twice...i think its the length of hair....wat do u think?
I found this one in a bijouterie store. But you can also use a pen/pencil or a chop stick. :) Or search the internet or ebay for hair sticks if you want fanicer ones. :)
Oh, to bad to hear, I've broken some hair sticks too. You need to be careful with this style, because it can become very tight. Never force the stick to bend, try to wiggle the style a bit instead.
How do you keep it from getting undone? Tips on how I should finish the insertion of the chopstick? When I finish and let go, the hair just falls down.
@BlahBlahRainbowFish well, being lefthanded helps. ;) If you can't flip it in your head, put a mirror at the side of the computer screen and watch it in the mirror. Then you will see it done righthanded. :)
If your hair is long, try to wrap an extra turn. Or half a turn. :) Or do a search for other awesome hair stick styles. :) I'm thinking about making a new video for styles with longer hair, so keep an eye out for it.
Cool! I didn't even think to come here for hairstyles, but I needed inspiration of what to do with this elaborate hair stick I have.

Thank you for this! I keep reaching up to mess with my hair subconsciously because I can't feel the usual hairband in it. Awesome tutorial!
wow..an efficent way of a hairdo~ :3 nice job!!~

Thank you. This is my first successful hair stick style attempt:)
How do you do it with your left hand?! totally failing for me :/

I think you need to put it a lil higher up and then put the pen in the hair under it like a hair pin.

hmm... that looks nice but with my hair it just falls out five seconds later.
I didn't have a hair stick so I used a pencil. I managed to do it but the reaults were weird. I guess it works fine.
Long hair is beautiful. If you don't like it then that is your problem.
good one !!!!!!
I've tried this and it is working but my hair is too long so it just hangs down on the side...does anyone know how to fix this problem?

girls in school use to take a pencil, so any stick works..
that's the way i do it :]
@hwiley09 omg it works on shorter hair too!!!
aka. The Hairstick Knot or the Mrs. El Knot. :)
