You need to check out Avenged Sevenfold Live in the LBC! You can start with Critical Acclaim because it’s the first song of the concert and the Rev sings the chorus. There’s a high quality version of the whole concert with timestamps for each song in the description.
I saw A7X on that tour in Buffalo, it was amazing. I went to the show to see Halestorm but left being impressed with A7X. Killer show lineup. Halestorm, Stone Sour, A7X and Disturbed
Watched them live right after they replaced Mike with a full time drummer and actually have a video on an old hard drive of the guy hanging at the open of their set…it was badass!
Dave, you should check out Avenged Sevenfold's cover of Pantera's "Mouth for War" live in 2010 (Revolver GG award show), with Vinnie Paul on drums. Matt's vocal power & stamina was something else back then. He does Anselmo justice, 1000%! Showcases how ridiculously talented these guys are. Portnoy always has great energy. Looking forward to some DT reactions! Cheers!
I'm the same I never got into them aside from a few select songs. Not sure exactly why, because they aren't bad by any means. It's funny that they didn't get a bunch of haters for having someone else finish and play the parts, if it would've been vocals (Linkin Park for example) there would be trolls everywhere. Odd, how people act differently depending on the instrument.
Avenged has always been a bit different, I understand why you wrote them off if you were into pure metal. Singer is a bit weird with his vowels and sound, their songwriting is off to the side. I feel like I always gravitated towards them for this exact reason. They weren't pure metal and I was fascinated by that, having grown up on stuff like Metallica/Pantera from my dad's CD book
You really should watch the live in lbc stuff! ❤
I agree!!! One of the best live performances I've seen!
ABSOLUTELY! That concert is like, PEAK Avenged Sevenfold. I love their new stuff too, but seeing Jimmy up there with the guys just hits different.
The Rev is the reason I play drums, Mike really did his best for the whole nightmare album, massive respect for him
Seen them live 3 times and they've been so good in person.
Definitely check out their Live in the LBC concert on YT
yep at least a song or two from that concert is crucial. legendary show

A great drummer's coordination between hands and feet is impressive. I think I could learn the guitar before ever becoming a drummer.
they’re still very good, but the Rev was a next level songwriter and was so clearly a massive part of all the best stuff

Avenged sevenfold reactions when
Mike Portnoy was the drummer of Avenged Sevenfold. I think he was also the studio drummer of this song.
And Dave Portnoy eats pizza.
Should check out Power Trip if you like thrash metal or 80s metal in general not this garbage
No offence, but that jingle kind of sucks.
Liquid Tension Experiment!!!
Show her Dream Theater - The best of Times !
Portnoy, great technical drummer.
