On Friday 25th March 1994, 158833, working a Paignton to Cardiff service ran into 43071 at the rear of a HST service from Penzance to Edinburgh. - Авто/Мото
Thanks for posting this. I was on the 158 at the time, although thankfully I didn't sustain any major injuries. Google returned this video while I was trying to figure out when it happened.
I searched up 158 coupling and it suggested this
158833 now works for Transport For Wales, last time it was seen by myself, it was hooked up to a class 142 at Crosskeys Station, heading for Ebbw Vale Town from Cardiff Central, all 4 coaches were full of Xmas Shoppers, it was also running about half hour late
Yes I saw 158833 at Dyffryn ardudwy On the Cambrian line yesterday
Thanks for posting, used to work the catering on the sprinters between Paignton and Cardiff up to a couple of months before this, had 833 several times
David Thomas was on Railwatch.
I like how they put a 150 image instead of a 158.. Eh.
0:42 shows a 150/2 not a 158!
yeah it does lol
@@SionsTrainVideos yep
It pains me when people don't know their British trains
@@georgetrains46 me too
It makes no difference to the public.
*Stopped trains do not like to be eaten*
lol, nice scr reference
On the thumbnail I thought they where coupling up until I saw the title ( hopefully no one was hurt
And the 158 833 is back in service
Ye it works for TFW passed over by ATW no idea how many TOCs have had it since the crash
@@thomasoakleyderbyshire9761 most likely it went to alphaline wales and west before arriva won the wales and borders franchise now run by tfw so 4 at least now
rear-up collision due to signalling
Yeah.
do we know what was the cause of the accident 27 years ago driver error or signalling error
Driver error - his train was given a signalled indication to enter an occupied platform line at caution but he didn't control the speed of the train correctly.
I might not want to go on HST’S anymore
this isn’t the HSTS fault nor the 158
Don't be a wuss the railways are the safest way to travel
Yeah because those deadly HSTs should never be stationery at a platform as its so dangerous!!
@@Leevan75 How ?
@@Leevan75 It's within the rule book trains are allowed to share platforms as long as they stop or slowly approach the signal before the platform to make sure they can stop in time
What was the cause in the end?
Human Error, driver of the 158 passed signal at danger.
@@jamtart606
No. The driver of the 158 got a 'calling on' indication at the relevant signal. This consists of two small white lights beneath the main red signal lamp plus the platform number, meaning that the platform line ahead may be occupied and to prepare to stop short. Very common facility provided at many busy stations, known as permissive working. The human error was that he failed to control the speed of his train correctly after passing the signal.
Human error then
@@jamesfordjhfcontractingltd1627
Yes, but for the reason I stated and not through "passing a signal at danger".
It's always at Newton abbot and it is mostly always with a hst
Oh wow 1994 I was 4 years old then these were the best trains back in the day, I have just subscribe to your channel would be awesome if you could subscribe back hope you been keeping safe during the pandemic
