    I remember the "Real" World Trade Center. Went their with my girlfriend. Top floor observation and stair to the roof. Cost me $40 without the airport security nonsense.

    I'm so sad that I didn't realize you were a couple weeks behind on releases! I guess that's my fault for not following on Facebook. (I am following now!) I missed my chance to help you out when you were going by! (Or at least to wave.) Oh well. Maybe next time you come by. Glad you made it back safe! I'll enjoy watching more next week!

    I liked your New York video better than Uma's.

    Additionally, being old school, I think having a 'hard copy', paper reference guides that you can annotate are the fundamentals that you need, a foundation if you will. Then we can supplement those with new, up to date info/technology. All knowledge sharing started by word of mouth, cave paintings, etc. What if your modern, electrical gadgetry failed . . .?

    Great episode jam packed with interesting and useful information. I agree with you about guide books and Active Captain. They definitely complement each other. You aren't afraid to show how you feel and that's got to be tough sometimes. However, it's better than those channels where everything is always rosy and bright -until something blows up and they stop posting.

    Enjoy your channel and have watched from almost the beginning. Just one comment on this video...mile markers on the ICW (statute miles) are not measured from the Hudson River. ICW statute mile marker 0 is in Norfolk, Va. heading south. Keep the videos coming.

    Good job. Lots of good info. on cruising guides, Active capt'n, etc. Don't be bummed, consider this as prepping for the next adventure. Hope u seriously consider going through the lakes and down the Miss, to Tenn, then Ten Tom to Mobile. You can do it!!!

    And here is exactly why I and others love your videos. It's real. You've got some great, fun footage of your travels around NY City, you've got extremely informative information every video and above all else, you show the realities of live aboard sailing. Don't ever change that recipe. Your videos will always evolve from improvements in shooting, to production to post editing - but don't change the recipe! Keep up the amazing work Tim - Looking forward to the next couple of vids as well as the vids leading up to 100 and beyond!

    You are incorrect about the start of mile markers. It starts in Norfolk VA, not the Hudson as you suggest.

    Nice well done video. I’ve spent a lot of time on the Hudson and Erie Canal . Easy for powerboats to navigate. Can be tougher for sale boats due to water depth in certain spots. Glad you made it home safely. Hope you had a chance to spend some time at the city marina in Kingston on the Hudson. Always had a lot of fun visiting that little town. Look forward to your future adventures.

    Great episode as usual. I have a couple questions: 1. Could you have done your 15 days on Canadian soil at Fort Erie or any closer Canadian location? 2. Your videos are not real time, how many days did it take you to get from Miami to your home port? I'm curious if it's reasonable to spend hurricane season on the Great Lakes and winter in the Bahamas, like back and forth every year?

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  5 лет назад

      Hey thanks for watching. 1. Yes I could have but it made more sense for me to do it in my home port because I need to get a lot of boat work done. 2. You could spend hurricane season on the great lakes yes but it is very far away. It would be much easier to spend it on the Chesapeake. You can run Lake Erie to Florida in maybe a month if you really try.

    HI TIM, Welcome home. Thank Goodness the weather is warm. We have lots of cruising guides. We did use active captain on Layla but went back to Skipper Bob even though our copy was outdated. I felt that too much information about anchorages etc, became overwhelming to me. We are always aware that everything changes because of storms and hurricanes and no matter what guide we use and the information we have, we are always leery and become very close friends with our depth finder.

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  5 лет назад

      Hey yes it can be a lot of information. I usually scan most of it and draw my own conclusions.

    Another informative video, thank you. How long to navigate from east to west? Need to know how much vacation time I have to burn.

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  5 лет назад +1

      Hey thanks. We did the Erie in six days but we took a half day off. Usually it takes ten days to really enjoy all the great stops but it can be done in 5 days if you can make 7-8 knots.

    Thanks for details and points of view on guides and details all around. I also get a little bitter as it seems it is taking to long to get our boat in the ocean. She sits at a dock waiting for me to get my house sold so we can refit her. In time, I am sure. Patience.

    • @LadyKSailing

    Great video, Tim. I appreciate your incite and sharing of useful information. My new sailboat design is just about complete and I'll be starting construction within this coming week. My plan is to circumnavigate the "Downeast Circle Route" (there is a FB group dedicated to this). The plan is to leave Maine and sail around Nova Scotia, up the St.Lawrence into the Great Lakes, through the Welland Canal to Lake Erie, and then take the Erie Canal to the Hudson. From there, it's down around Manhattan and up the East River to Long Island Sound, to Buzzards Bay, and through the Cape Cod Canal. Then it's up the East coast back to Maine. Can't wait to make it happen. Thanks again for helping to provide much of the inspiration for me to get back on the water!

    • @CalciteSerendipity
      @CalciteSerendipity 5 лет назад +1

      Given the current in the St. Lawrence would it make more sense to reverse your route and have days of helpful current?

    • @DowneastThunderCreations
      @DowneastThunderCreations 5 лет назад

      @@CalciteSerendipity - Excellent point! I've sailed up the St.Lawrence a couple of times before years ago (as far as Quebec City) and you're absolutely correct. The vessel I've designed is shoal draft and can skirt the main currents by staying close to the shoreline (and staying out of the shipping channel). I designed it specifically for this (expecting to motor most of the way in the St.Lawrence) and also to allow lowering and raising the mast by myself without assistance from a marina or other individuals. The choice of going in the other direction means beating most of the way down the East coast from Maine to New York (usually - with prevailing winds from the SW) unless you get lucky with more favorable winds which sometime occur. During most times (when I have the opportunity to make the voyage) the counterclockwise route might be the most advantageous considering the overall route. Nothing is carved in stone though, and the actual route chosen will depend on the time of year and how things look when it gets closer to the time to shove off and get underway.

    Another great video as usual. And thank you once again for not blasting music over your monologue like everybody else does. I wish I had been able to meet up with you when you are in Charleston South Carolina because I have a dry bag backpack and some fowlies and other equipment that I would like to donate to any Sailors out there that need it. If you can put the word out or if you know somewhere that I can post this I'd be glad to give these things away since I cannot use them anymore. Good luck with the rest of your Journeys and I know exactly how you feel sitting still for six days. I've been all over the world many times and it's hard to imagine that I'm not doing that anymore. Take care and Godspeed
