Beautiful building. Thanks for sharing. I've been there and it really is majestic. I prefer, though to think of it as where John Lennon lived instead of where he was killed. It is, after all, where he chose to live. He didn't choose to die there and in the fashion that transpired.
My first & only trip to NYC my daughter took me to the Dakota. It was very emotional as I adored John. The guard scolded me because I was mesmerized and walked up to the gate to touch it.
I’m the same, my first trip there in July this year, I got told of for standing 1cm past a line in the pavement, didn’t even get within 2 feet of the gate
Mike maybe due to the volume of fans that stop by or the personal issues the guard is dealing with? It's strange how close the area is to the street. He yelled twice at me ha, it didn't even register until my daughter said, you need to step back.
@@pixiedust817 ha yeah I just assumed he gets a steady stream of people all day asking for if they can take a photo and must get a bit fed up with it, I politely asked and then when I went past a certain line in the pavement he told me to ‘step in front of the line sir’ I wanted to say Iv come all the way from Liverpool here lol but I just quietly said, oh yep ok no problem 😂
Mike, it must be a daunting job keeping tourist back and residents safe. I felt an overwhelming feeling of sadness. I often wonder if Yoko looks out her window and notices that people still care? Hope you went across the street to strawberry fields in Central Park- it's absolutely lovely ✌
@@pixiedust817 I did yeah, I bought a postcard from strawberry fields in Liverpool and wrote on it outside johns old house where he grew up then brought it to New York and left it at Central Park strawberry fields, really nice place, a band was playing Beatles songs while we were there ❤️ ✌️
I have walked passed this entranceway many times and have never noticed much of what you pointed out. It is very emotional to stand there and think about what took place. Next time I will make a point of paying more attention to the details of the Dakota's entry. Thank you.
Thanks for checking it out and for staying awake. It was my assumption that most viewers would fall asleep within the first few minutes. You clearly are very smart or drank a lot of coffee, or both. :)
@@StrangeHistoryX when the subject is interesting and presented well I pay attention. You also have a very engaging voice. I would have thought a drawing would have sounded more "sketchy." :)
John was fond of his childhood memories of the Strawberry Field Salvation Army orphanage building near his home in Liverpool. If you look at photo's of the Victorian structure, it resembles The Dakota, this must have been a plus for John.
That is true. There is a resemblance. Then again, if there was no way to get an apt in the Dakota he simply would have lived elsewhere. In fact, his apartment on the East River where he lived with May Pang was in many ways much nicer. 3 stories. Large rooms. Beautiful views.
I really enjoy watching and listening to all the stories regarding the beautiful Dakota, it is so interesting, in fact I watch the ones you’ve put on so far more than once . The front entrance is really cool , the opening is what I love , and everything surrounding it . Good job Scott outlining everything or I’d be lost .

Love these videos, great info on the Dakota

Outstanding series, thank you.
Thank you. I’m just getting into my groove so hopefully they will improve as I produce more.

@@StrangeHistoryX Yes, that apartment is where John saw the UFO in 1974.
@@seerstone8982 Yep!
very interesting well done
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Love the bad an details
Aint it interesting, that lennon seemed more interesting then Paul was. He was just different.
John’s magic number was 9. The street address was 72 and his apartment number was 72. Didn’t save him.
Nothing would have saved him. Even if someone was there. It just happened way too fast.
