  • I've written many throughout life, but I have yet to update my statement of intent for several years now due to some big changes and such. It seems right to pin down some thoughts going forward. These ideas feel very important to me right now.

Very eloquently put, and I very much look forward to how you answer the question in your work. If I may suggest, the mere fact that you are asking the question in some way helps answer it. In other words, that you recognize your quest and have started to document to journey is in itself bringing beauty to this world.

These types of thoughts are much more valueble to me than any of the works of the greatest of minds I have read. It is tempting to write my own assessment of the questions you ponder, but I will restrain myself. For now I would just like to express my gratitude to you for sharing these thoughts, thank you.

I feel like you are highlighting a central conflict I face as a Navajo person in our society. I see that to succeed, I must be only about myself in this country/moment. Yet, that idea is very much aginst the idea of success that I was raised with. They are in conflict.

It is frustrating that these values feel incompatible with *living* in the modern world. The more I learn about myself and move towards what is important in life, the more I feel at odds with the societal landscape as a whole.

I appreciate this a lot. As I grow more in touch with the living world I recede further from the desire to achieve to look good for others, though not the desire to help others.

After years of this questions for myself, i finished at one last question: how to financial my life? How to get some money to have a life out of that actual system where is no space for people like us? But i have no answer till now. If someone have ideas, please share them with me.

You got me to look up the scene in Blade Runner where Roy says "That's the spirit!"

Do you have projects that you feel you only or mostly did because they fed that ego driven cultural system? I never got that impression from your projects. You were always very passionate about Noodlefeet, Carl, Gravity Road, the Light Play exhibit, Sprinkles, and the rest, and I never got the impression you were pandering to the crowd, the algorithm, or anyone else. Sometimes your content isn't my cup of tea or I disagree with your approach, but I've always thought it was genuine in a way that most RUclips content isn't (not that that content is bad, it's just obvious they're optimizing their content for some method of monetization). I appreciate it and will continue to support you for it. :)

Thank you, truly. While I don't feel like I've allowed this force (ego) to effect my work or what I decide to create, it is something I feel the weight of in the expectations of others (towards me or themselves). Ego feels like the assumed default state. Like *of course we are suppose to behave this way and have these values*. It's something I have to consciously object to and I feel like I stand alone often because of this.
-I have however allowed this force to direct my attention and the heading of my course in life- which I realize now is what lead me to burnout and to some of the darkest (but necessary) days of my adult life. Gratefully, you learn a lot when you realize you're going the wrong way :) I appreciate your question. Does this concept effect you also?

@@ROBOHEMIAN Sort of. I've abandoned pretty much all social media because all the platforms are either ad-laden garbage or obscure things no one I know use. So, I don't feel pressure to post cool stuff all the time, and I certainly don't let that kind of thing change my decisions around what I make. But, I am a little attention whore that wants everyone to tell me I did a good job when I'm done. And, I'd probably do a lot less making if I didn't have that little ego boosting feedback at the end.
This could be a whole group therapy session. Haha. I grew up watching The Red Green Show where his mantra was "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy." And I've built a ton of my self-worth around that concept.

    Step 1: grind the money
Step 2: if you aren't dead, and have the money, worry about that then cause it is unlikely.
