Dad was delivering sulphuric and nitric acid across the road in 1969 about the two helpers from the place refused to help, so I had to help with the bottles or carbines in glass would be 50kgs, I was 8 or 9. So much for imported workers, so much for health and safety.

50 kgs that's a lot for a child, especially handling toxic substances. Not good. I hope it was a one-off.

Excellent filming. You found an historical pub Birmingham Council hasn't bulldozed. I hear lad in the lane Erdington is earmarked for destruction.

Thank you. It would be shameful to demolish the lad in the lane. It is the oldest building in Erdington... That's why I am making these videos. I am documenting as many pubs in Bham as I can in case they end up in the dust like so many have already unfortunately .

It’s brilliant when the St Patrick’s day parade used to be on.

That's a great interior - the aquatic theme and all! I've been to the Anchor a few times.

Hello Chris, I've never been. It was my first time. I didn't know it was that big!
My goal is to document at least 100 pubs in Bham by the end of the year. 14 so far...
Btw, I like the new name for your channel 🙂

@@citiesthroughmyeyes thanks Joseline, "The Solitary Review" is also the name of my blog. 100 pubs sounds like a great goal. In 2003-4 I documented all the pubs in Hammersmith and Fulham but that was just taking photographs! It did lead to a book though.

What is the name of your book? I didn't know you were an author. I will have a look at it. It sounds interesting 🙂

I love your 'pub crawl challenge', Joseline. This pub looks classic and old skool. Nice and chilled out. 😊
