“The prince would blink drowsiness from his eyes, ask Tubbo who he was, and Tubbo would say “a friend”, and maybe in another life that would be true.” Is my fav quote
What does he mean by he’ll see Tommy soon? I thought he and Dream were trapped in the void and wouldn’t be leaving for possible eons? So wouldn’t it be a very long time till he got to see his family or Tommy again?
“I don’t want payback.” Wilbur sighed as he leaned into Techno’s embrace. He looked so small and breakable. A glass figurine of a boy. “I just want to go home. I want to bury my little brother.”
"His Tommy, lying so still in his brother's arms. His Tommy, who braided his hair with sweet-smelling flowers. His Tommy, who was quick to anger but quicker to laugh. His Tommy." - Passerine
“war, such a small word for such a big thing” “death, such a small word for such a big thing” “god, such a big word for such a small thing” such a small heart for a big world
FOR FUCKS SAKE THE COMMENTS ARE HAVING ME ALMOST HAVE A MENTAL BREAKDOWN I JUST FINISHED READING PASSERINE AND YT DECIDES TO TEASE ME WITH THE ANIMATICS AHHHHHH u know I'ma go to a corner and cry into my pillow ಥ╭╮ಥ
I just started reading Passerine today and just got to the part where it said "war such a small word for such a big thing" So I came back to find this comment
Tip: Next time you convince your friend to let you show them a DSMP animatic, show them this one because it will confuse them and get them to read to fanfic. They realize the fanfic is an AU and now want to see what the real lore is and then boom, you’ve kidnapped another unsuspecting teenager and shoved them into the dungeon known as the DSMP fandom.
“I’m not done yet!” Tommy said, and produced one more flower-a single yellow rose. “This one’s my favorite,” he added as he gently tucked the flower behind Technoblade’s ear, the one that had the emerald earring that Wilbur had found so familiar, “because it means friendship.” Technoblade stiffened. His mouth opened and closed, like he was trying to breathe but forgot how, before he finally said, “Are we friends, then?” Tommy stood and brushed grass from his pants. “Well, obviously.” “Obviously?”
“I swear on you both, I will find a way back to you. Someday, there will be nothing to fear anymore, and I’ll find you again, even if it takes me eons.”
“We’ll play for you,” Techno vowed. “When we get home, we’ll play for you as many times as you want, Tommy. I’ll let you beat me when we spar. I’ll let you braid my hair, or even cut it all off if you want to. Anything you want, just keep your eyes open.” A shadow fell over them, in the shape of wings that Tommy had only seen once before, when he had flown out of Tommy’s bedroom window and out of their lives forever. Or, not forever. Tommy tried to raise his head, to see his father’s face, but the pain was too much. “Dad,” Tommy whispered. He still wanted to do so much. He still wanted to scream at Wilbur and then embrace him. He still wanted to find flowers for Techno’s hair. He still wanted to go home, to the kingdom that they had protected. He still wanted to hug his dad. But a darkness was quickly gathering. “Tommy?” Tommy had no idea who had said his name. It all sounded so very far away. “Don’t leave me,” Tommy begged. “Please. I’m so scared.” “We’re here, Tommy.” A kiss on his forehead. Someone holding his hand. Strong arms around him. Wilbur, humming his old lullaby. Warmth, even in the dark. “We’ll always be here.” -too late. “Thank you,” Tommy breathed. “Thank you. I…” He had so much left to say, so much left to offer. Love. Forgiveness. Cheer. But he would leave it there, until he woke up again. Tommy’s eyes drifted shut. His mother’s laughter had never sounded clearer.
Wilbur pulled back, astonished, his face drawn in awe. “What is it?” he asked frantically. “Did I do something wrong?” “No,” Phil sobbed, falling to his knees before the three of them. His lovely, laughing wife, his kind, bewildered Wilbur, and his loud, shrieking Tommy. “You did everything right, my boy. You’re perfect.
Passerine feels like something that's evolved beyond the content creators. Not in a negative sense, just in a collective, the community that carved out a place for it is it's own community. You can know absolutely nothing about the CC's the fanfic is based on and read this like a fairy tale story to someone. They wouldn't know. How could they?
Hey non-DSMP fan here. I know more about the content than the average person because my friend is into it, but much less than any fan. And I read Passerine. And it was GORGEOUSLY written and SO moving. I'd recommend it to anyone.
“You’re an… ass,” Tommy wheezed. “And your tea is garbage.” Wilbur swiped a thumb across his own mouth to wipe his smile away. “Techno made that tea.” “Oh.” Tommy looked down at the tiny teacup with curiosity; he could not imagine his hardened tutor patiently brewing tea for anyone, even Wilbur. “It’s alright, then.” “Gods, Tommy.” Wilbur placed his elbow on his desk and rested his cheek against the heel of his hand. The look he gave Tommy was one of utmost affection, despite the obvious exhaustion etched into every inch of his face. “Will you ever grow out of your hero-worship of him?” Tommy took another, considerably smaller bite of his apple. He chewed on the sweet pulp, thinking all the while of the pink-haired tutor that had taught him and Wilbur all they knew of survival-and not just through fighting. Techno could have left. He should have left, after those long nights of Tommy waking up crying, Wilbur’s dark moods, days where both of them felt so frayed that unravelling each other felt like the only way to fix it, of frustration and anger with no other way out than screaming. But he stayed. He stayed to watch Wilbur be crowned, stayed to be his most trusted adviser, stayed and kept him together when everyone else expected the boy-king to fall apart under the pressure. He stayed and marked Tommy’s height on one of the statues in the training pavilion despite his insistence that Tommy had not grown an inch. He stayed even after Wilbur forced him to attend balls and galas, and endured each one of Tommy’s jibes about the pompous suits he was made to wear. How on earth could Tommy grow out of worshiping someone like that?
When their first child was born-a baby boy with hair the color of Tommy’s last sunset-Wilbur took him into his arms without hesitation. He pressed his tearstained cheek against his son’s warm skin and whispered, “I will love you forever,” over and over until he was sure his son knew it. And the son would grow up under no one’s shadow, calling Wilbur “Dad,” and Techno “Uncle,” in a kingdom of hard-won peace. In time, he would know the story of the Blue Valley and the story of his other uncle and the story of his grandparents, but until then, he would think all gods were kind and his father never cried. His uncle would carve his height into the marble column of the ivy-covered pavilion where he learned how to paint, and he would wonder why his father’s brother would turn away whenever he passed the almost-faded marks of the boy that had stood there before him.
the part where tommy only cried when wilbur held him- you captured that so beautifully in this animatic and i am quite simply sobbing. thank you for making this masterpiece
"It was Tommy’s grave at his back. Mother’s unfinished painting. Father’s necklace around his neck. And when the final note echoed off into silence, there was no standing ovation, no raucous applause. Just like the voices for the past two years, six months and three days, there was only silence. It was the most beautiful sound." -Passerine, Chapter 7: the echoing hymn of my fellow passerine (they took to it), blujamas, thcscus Edit: you brought the yellow roses into this and I'm going to go console myself in the corner.
The part where Baby Tommy starts to breathe is so fucking good and carries such a bittersweet tone. The lyrics fit so well and the angelic singing once Tommy starts to cry is just *chefs kiss*. This animatic is incredible because unlike so many others it actually manages to encompass the feeling behind the story.
@@its_lunastartd2560 It’s a popular fanfic called Passerine, you can read it on ao3. It’s a royal au about Sleepy Bois Inc.; Tommyinnit, Wilbur Soot, Technoblade and Ph1LzA.
@@izniezafierah6111 Yep :) In the story, he's a still birth, so he was born unable to breathe. So Phil an Mumza mourn what they think is their dead child before wilburs like "Dead child? Not on my watch"
People are putting quotes from Passerine down, I almost did that. But I’d rather acknowledge this masterpiece as almost a separate work. I could see the heart, soul, ink and tears poured into this. It made me sob. The song, the drawings, all of it. Then you came in with the audio clips and my broken heart just shattered. It was, to put it simply, awe-inspiring.
“I don’t play the violin.” “No, you don’t.” Wilbur glanced at his mother’s painting, the one with soft colors and old lines. “And Tommy will never live past fifteen.” “No,” Mother replied, regret and sorrow-two of Wilbur’s own restless shadows-gleaming in her eyes, “he won’t.” -Passerine (the quote that broke my heart)
its already been 2 years, and yet the pain is still here. I miss the sleepy boin inc. what could have happened if techno is still alive, what would have happened if Wilbur didn't fucked up. Wilbur in lore: dies Tommy in Passerine: dies Techno in irl: .... Phil before: A father of 3 Phil now: A father of 1 this made me cry.
Its been three now… I don't have the words to express the pain that comes with all that has happened. This story made me cry the animation even more. Even the bench trio died. Lots of stuff has been broken… thankfully for old videos so at least I can pretend none of its broken.
" you were _six_ " " At fifteen years old, Tommy was the oldest he’d ever been, but he never felt so young. " " You said ‘no more secrets.’ " " He thought he’d already felt pain, but what did he truly know? He was only fifteen. "
“I will love you forever, I will love you forever, I will love you forever. But this time, Tommy did not wake up.” “And looking at Tommy’s peaceful face was what finally, finally, made Technoblade- emperor of ice, blood god, destroyer of worlds- cry.”
“Come with me?” he asked, pressing his face closer against her paint-streaked palm. “You can lie. Lie and say you’ll be coming with me.” “I’m always with you, Wil,” she said, smiling a wavering smile. “I am in every note you play and every song you sing. I fight your every battle and feel your every pain. And I feel your joy, and your compassion, and your regret, and your bravery. Whatever you do, Wil, I am with you.” “And…” He swallowed roughly. “And Tommy…?” “You and your brother,” she said, “are bound by something stronger than fate, and stronger than death.” She dropped her hands and stepped back. The distance between them was a chasm. “One is gone, but not forever. One is gone, but not the other.”
Since everybody appears to be dropping their favorite Passerine quotes, as they do on thr comment section of every Passerine related video, here's my favorite excerpt: “I was content, for a while, to watch the kingdom grow. But these mortals and their short, fitful lives… they draw you in, Technoblade. I used to think they were moths drawn to flame, doomed to catch fire for the most inconsequential things. We’ve seen their wars, you and I. We’ve fought them. We both know the things they do to each other.” Philza took hold of the balcony railings as if it was the only thing keeping him from floating away. “But over the years I’ve also learned of the things they do for each other. Their lives will always be one year, one week, one day short, but it doesn’t seem to matter much to them. They live anyway. They love anyway. Forgive an old god for wanting a piece of that for himself.”
We’re going to win,” Tommy said, his ears still ringing with the crowd’s approval. “We’re actually going to win, aren’t we?” Wilbur and Techno exchanged one glance-one glance, and all was forgiven, the conversation shelved for another day. The general still looked at the king with something close to concern, and the dark circles under the king’s eyes were getting harder and harder to ignore each day, but none of that mattered anymore. If Tommy said they were going to win, then by the gods, neither of them would tell him otherwise, not when he looked the happiest he’d been in a month. “By this time next month, we’ll be back to worrying about trade routes and bothersome sycophants,” Wilbur assured him. “What the hell’s a sycophant?” “Gods.” The king gave his brother a look that was equal parts annoyed and adoring. “Remind me to hire a better linguistics tutor for you when we get home.” Tommy rolled his eyes. “Good luck finding someone that can stand me. I’ll chase anyone away in three days, at most. Bet your whole damn life on it.” Wilbur grinned at Technoblade. “I can think of one person. Techno, will you-” “Finish that sentence,” Technoblade drawled in his usual monotone manner, “and I will end your bloodline right on this balcony. I will throw you off, witnesses be damned.”
"Always fighting, you lot,” Mother said with a small smile, but her eyes were sad. “Deep breaths now, Wil. Tell me what you know.” “I was in a city in the north,” Wilbur said, his mouth tasting of ash and melting snow. “Outside a-a church. With broken windows.” “Yes, you were.” “I don’t play the violin.” “No, you don’t.” Wilbur glanced at his mother’s painting, the one with soft colors and old lines. “And Tommy will never live past fifteen.” “No,” Mother replied, regret and sorrow-two of Wilbur’s own restless shadows-gleaming in her eyes, “he won’t.”
"Wil?” Father reached out and ruffled Wilbur’s hair playfully. “You look a hundred miles away.” Wilbur exhaled slowly. “I’m just… remembering.” “Remembering what?” This. Mother’s soft smile. Tommy’s cheery laugh. Technoblade’s half-hearted protests. Father’s hand on his head. Everything. “Nothing,” Wilbur said. “Forget I said anything.” He smiled at his father, for once without reservation. He had never felt so light. He was almost a son again. “Would you like to watch Techno and I spar?” Father’s expression softened. “Of course. I would be delighted to.” It was the last good day." -passerine
" "I wish we could have had more time," Philza whispered, his tears coming on more quickly, so warm they might burn right to the bone. "I wish I could have watched you grow up. I wish I had loved you like you deserved. I wish I could have made it all up to you. I wish a universe's worth of wishes for you, my boy." "I know." And this was just Tommy's voice. Tommy, singular. This Philza's Tommy. "I better not see you, Wil, or Techno again for a long, long time," he added, which Philza knew meant, 'I will love you. Without requisite or deadline, I will love you.' Philza replied, "We aren't in any hurry," which meant, 'We love you, too.' " -chapter 7
To add to yours because the whole scene with Phil and Tommy in the dream state was so fucking sad, I mean every one of Techno and Will was sad too. - Swallowing the bitter taste on his tongue, Phil asked, “I want to stay, Tommy.” Tommy blinked, his expression crumbling with anger and disappointment. And then, clarity, as the first of Philza’s tears began to drop, a warm and silent rainfall. He never could hide anything from Tommy. “But you won’t,” Tommy finished, something like pride flickering in his eyes. “But I won’t,” Philza confirmed.
“But I don’t remember how the story ended.” Exhaustion was a heavy blanket, weighing him down until he was leaning on Technoblade’s shoulder. His throat felt raw, like he’d eaten broken glass. This story has no end, the voices said, but they sounded distant, too. “Tell me how the story ends,” Wilbur begged, even as he felt the last of his consciousness slowly fracture into nothingness. “Tell me you’ll still be here when I close the book.” “Wilbur, I-” Technoblade mumbled something too low to hear, and then he said, “Okay. I’ll be here.” _______________ "In between one breath and the next, Wilbur was king. In between one breath and the next, he was asleep."
“For my kingdom,” she whispered to the empty cave, and let the fire fall." also this is just amazing work the little scenes the voice edits everything is just so breathtaking good job mate
All the little scenes are just- *chef's kiss* beautiful, now I'm gonna rant about them all Wilbur and Tommy playing together in the gardens Tommy getting his uniform, which he was so happy about The three of them planning the war together while Tommy is braiding Techno's hair Just- them. *sobs* Wilbur doing his lil' speech to get everyone to fight in a war ("oh yah ppl we'll see our enemies burn, oh wait actually blow up, that's close enough right? lmao jk idc") Them just arguing Tommy annoying Wilbur while he's trying to work (“Kingdom’s on fire,” Tommy continued. “Rioting in the streets. The guards are staging a coup. Techno is leading them.” “Sure, Tommy,” Wilbur said noncommittally, reaching to dip his quill into the inkpot.) Wilbur and Techno playing music while Tommy is just spying Techno being the bored babysitter Techno meeting the wonderful Mumza while Tommy is being irritating Literally one of the best scenes (“Did he cry?” Tommy demanded, practically vibrating off his chair. Technoblade, seated next to him, cut another piece of meat and chewed ponderously on it before answering, “Almost.” “Wicked,” Tommy breathed.) THE BEST SCENE MY BEST BOY BRAIDING TECHNO'S HAIR YOU DREW IT SO WELL Wilbur when he was dumb enough to promise anything so Tommy got a piggyback ride around the castle Them. Iconic moment (“Tommy, stop,” Technoblade said more loudly. Tommy stopped, only to wipe his nose on his sleeve, hiccup, and then wail again. “What’s wrong with him? That usually works,” Technoblade grumbled, stalking closer to them with the caution of a hunter approaching a wild animal. “Welcome to the world of big brotherhood,” Wilbur replied bitterly, still wiping gently at Tommy’s face. “We hope you enjoy your stay, but most likely you will suffer.”) The family picking apples in the orchard- awwwww my heart is melting The lil' scene where Tommy fell off the side of the castle and broke his arm (When he was a child, Tommy had tried to scale the side of the castle. He did not remember the fall, but he remembered the crash. He remembered the feeling of his bones splintering underneath him, the pain so blinding that he almost passed out. He didn’t know who eventually found him, but he eventually woke up in his bedroom, his left arm in a sling and Wilbur asleep by his bedside. Techno had been leaning against the far wall, glaring at him. “He’s been here for days,” Techno had said. “You really scared the shit out of him, Tommy.” It was the angriest Techno had ever been at him, and that was the moment Tommy understood that what he really meant was that Tommy scared the shit out of both of them.) "I will love you forever."
* ”I know.” And this was just Tommy’s voice, Tommy singular. Philzas Tommy.”I better not see you, Wil or Techno for a long long time,” he added, which Philza knew meant I love you, without requisite or deadline, I will love you. Philza replied “we aren’t in any hurry,” which meant we love you too. When Philza let go, Tommy was gone. He was alone. And the sky was waiting far above him. *
you probably won't see this- but this hit so hard. the colors, the music, the style, it got the tears flowing for sure. this is amazing, beautiful, so intricate and detailed, i don't feel privileged enough to be able to see this. please know that my mind has been blown and my heart broken and warmed at the same time, which i didn't know was possible until now. thank you, beyond words, thank you.
“Once penned,” Wilbur said shakily, “an ending cannot be restored,” and he plunged a dagger straight into Techno’s back. sorry give me a second those flash backs are bringing back tears. the amount of detail in each frame can literally represent and tell the story of a whole chapter in passerine. THIS IS AMAZING. I WANA DIEI JAHIHIAHNSW
"I will love you. Without requisite or deadline, I will love you." -Passerine In all honesty this animatic is beautiful and stunning, in all it's heartbreak and laughter, in just the same ways as the original creation. Thank you.
“What’re you doing?” Tommy asked, closing the door behind him. Wilbur didn’t reply. He gave no indication of even hearing him. Tommy rolled his eyes and produced two apples from his pockets. He made his way over to the desk, moved over a stack of heavy, important-looking books and hauled himself up to a sitting position, his legs dangling over the edge. “You’ve been here all day, you know,” Tommy said idly, balancing one of the apples on the tip of his finger. “Missed breakfast and lunch.” Wilbur only grunted in response. “Kingdom’s on fire,” Tommy continued. “Rioting in the streets. The guards are staging a coup. Techno is leading them.” “Sure, Tommy,” Wilbur said noncommittally, reaching to dip his quill into the inkpot.
The think about the fanfiction 'passerine' is that the already deeply rooted connection that viewers usually feel with the characters are taken advantage of in that fanfic. Thcscus adds the unbearable pain of loss and questionable insanity to the plot, overall thickening not only the story but the emotions that run through the story like a root running through the ground. Life, death, and the grief that can't be contained just builds up into a perfect masterpiece of writing. This animatic times the moments and music perfectly, annexing the additional voices to add more effect and to further twist our heartstrings in vines of silver sadness and gold grief. The art is exquisite, and the animation and progression is beautiful. The expressions on each character, the tears that are shed as death becomes unnaturally real, it all adds up and brings back the pain of the fanfiction. The ear-splitting sound of death as Wilbur cries out after Tommy expresses his anger over Wilbur's desicion that had destroyed much of his people. The strings of the violin are as taut as my heartstrings, nearly breaking. (This is all my opinion btw. Not trying to force anything upon you.)
“Please don’t tell Father,” Wilbur begged as he kneeled in front of his wailing brother, wiping Tommy’s cheeks as fast as the tears came. “It was an accident, Tommy.” Technoblade was cackling, leaning against one of the pavilion’s sculpted pillars. “You should see your face!” he managed to wheeze out between his guffaws. “Oh, gods, this is too hilarious-” Wilbur turned to glare at him. “You do know, if he tells Father, that it means you’re in trouble, too?” Technoblade snorted. “I’m not scared of your father.” There it was again. The arrogant dismissal, as if Father were nothing to him. Wilbur clenched his jaw to keep the barbed remarks from spilling. Tommy was still wailing, his tiny face turning red from the effort. “Okay,” Technoblade said after a long moment. “That’s getting annoying now. Stop.” Tommy didn’t. “Tommy, stop,” Technoblade said more loudly. “We hope you enjoy your stay, but most likely you will suffer.” Technoblade came to kneel beside Wilbur. “Tommy,” Technoblade demanded. “That is very irritating, what you are doing. Please quieten down.” Tommy responded by crying louder. “Oh, for the love of-What will it take for you to shut up? I’ll do anything at this point.” The crying stopped immediately. “Oh, gods.” Wilbur put his face in his hands. “You’re not supposed to say that, Techno. You’re never supposed to say that!” “What? What?” Technoblade demanded, panic seeping into his voice for the first time since Wilbur met him. “What did I do? What the hell did I do?” Tommy sniffled. “You said you’ll do… anything?” Realization dawned on Technoblade’s face. “Well, not anything, per se…” Tommy’s eyes began to water once more. “Okay, okay, okay.” Technoblade ran his hands across his face in frustration. “Fine. One thing, and you’ll shut up forever.” “I want to braid your hair,” Tommy said at once. Technoblade blinked. “What?” “What?” Wilbur echoed. “You once got me to let you ride me like a pony across the castle, and you ask him to let you braid his hair?” Tommy nodded with all the solemnity of a judge announcing someone’s death sentence. Wilbur and Technoblade exchanged glances-Technoblade, one of bewilderment, and Wilbur, one of utmost betrayal. That was how they found themselves wasting the morning away, sitting together on the damp grass. Wilbur leaned back on his hands and raised his face to the sun, letting the light settle against his skin. He could hear Tommy scurrying around, gathering flowers, as the spring breeze blew through the garden.
This story is something truly unfathomable, there’s something within it that creates a whole new place and feeling, and quite frankly I think it’s beautiful.
"I will love you without a single string attached." This is actually how family works, it is really beautiful. You love your family because they are your family and for no other reason. You are always with them, supporting when they are right and trying to help them fix when they are wrong because it is actually family's responsibility. You care about your family more than others because it is your home, a bigger part of you. We care for people for various reasons, and like people for various reasons, but family is family. This video makes me really emotional, I love it so much.
I was going to reply with "Sadly, it depends on the family." Then I remembered that family is not bound by blood, but instead bound by love. Thank you for this comment.
Techno staggered towards them, his blood as heavy as lead, his vision hazy. But he could see the one thing that mattered. His Tommy, lying so still in his brother’s arms. His Tommy, who braided his hair with sweet-smelling flowers. His Tommy, who was quick to anger but quicker to laugh. His Tommy.
If you realise how much times that Tommy escapes death, you will be even more sad to his death. Spoiler Alert. First Time, Born before 9 months has finish and might be dead at any point in time. Philza and the Queen were cradling what might be the remain of a dead baby but after Wilbur spoke his word "I will love you forever", The baby cries and comes the relief from both the Queen and Philza. Second time, Tommy were scaling the side of castle and fell down. Third time, During Wilbur's long-ranged weapon training, he almost shot Tommy in the eyes. Fourth time, Wilbur almost killed Tommy during the wait for the Green Army to arrive because of the voices. Fifth time, Tommy was struck in the shoulder by the blade of the War God then Technobpade come to save him. Sixth time, Tommy survived the explosion from Wilbur's desperate measures. Seventh time, He's struck in the heart by a throwing knife that are thrown by the War God. Seven is not a lucky number for him. He has escape the death's claw once, twice, thrice, fourth, fifth, sixth times but he is not so lucky as the knife struck his heart at the end of the war.
"His mother's laugh had never sounded clearer." "Niki hoped they would plant the prettiest flowers on her grave." (Idk if I got that one right.) "War, such a small word for such a big thing." I'mma go now. 🚪🚶♀️
reading Passerine broke my heart multiple times, but this broke my heart once more. The way you effortlessly drew everything and the way you portrayed everything is ridiculous... in the best way possible. i love this
Okay so when i first watched i had only scanned over the fanfic to get a brief idea of it. I then decided to read the entire thing properly and let me tell you, i have never cried this hard over something that isn't even real. I highly recommend you read it all! This is beautiful! I am just lost for words at this point!
I sobbed, I cried, tears rolling down my face. I'm done, I haven't even read passerine yet because I've heard its sad, but the song and just the animatic and the small details. I'm soft don't touch me
“I know exactly how the rule goes; ‘put my mask on first’. No, I don’t wanna talk about myself. ‘Tell me where it hurts.’” My favorite line and yet like- AAAAAAAAAAAA-
All the scenes in the end had me CRYING. I was doing SO GOOD KEEPING MY SELF TOGETHER FRICK YOU MAN IM SO SAD I absolutely love the little snippets of dsmp audios you added, and THE CHOICES OF WHICH SCENE TO PUT IN THE END THEY WERE SO BEAUTIFUL IM CRYING
I will never be able to listen to this song without sobbing anymore, the fic was already such an emotional journey but GODS did you perfectly capture the *heartbreak* of losing Tommy so very well, and you really couldn't of chosen a more perfect song to show it with. Perfect music choice and devestating themes and gorgeous artwork *chef kiss*
Because of this video, I found the artist who made "Two" - Sleeping at last and fell in love with him so thank you, for such an amazing animatic to one of my favourite SBI fanfics and for finding my now favourite artist.
"And one day, when the angel of death found his way back to the kingdom, judging by the green emerald around the neck of a child or the familiar smile etched into its skin. He would know he was home." -that one hurt
Not a lot of things can make me cry...this is an exception... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AT 3:35 WHEN YOU USED THE ACTUAL VOICES- That broke me so well, this is undeniably the saddest yet amazing things ive ever seen
I’ve seen this animatic so many times at this point and realized that I never commented on it, so here ya go! Rather then sharing a quote(as much as I’d love too), I want to express my love for the animatic itself and the editing u’ve done. I adore your art style, it makes the cute moments seem so tender and the tragic moments so heartbreaking. I love the audio clips you added, from the sounds of war, the cheering of a crowd, the thunder, the voices from the creators, the sweet childish giggles for Tommy, the ear ringing and the horn, the bells and fun chatter between techno and Wilbur at the end, frick. The best part about reading anything is that every reader has a different interpretation of the characters and story. With the being said, you made Wilbur look much younger when he’s in the dreamscape with his mother, while I envisioned him as his older self, which I think is amazing in its own way. I love how you perfectly timed some of the lyrics for the characters to use as dialogue. The flashbacks send chills, and most of all, this animatic(and the story as well) hits a part of my heart that is incredibly sensitive. You were able to capture the true feelings of being an older sibling(not all, but some at least), through the story and animatic, I felt for Wilbur. The feelings of loving a sibling so completely and wanting nothing more then their happiness, even through the fights, the darkness, the light. You captured the heart of what I believe being an older sibling is. Man, everyone in this community is so talented, I applaud you and thank u, for creating something so stunning with that passion of yours.
I know I'm a HELL lot late but after watching this animatic for God knows how many times (because I've lost the track of how many times i watched this and cried for hours because i can never move on from this story lol), I've just realised that when Tommy was born, he wasn't breathing which was assumed that he was de@d. Both Philza and Mumza were crying. But Wilbur didn't knew that his little brother was de@d and asked his parents if he could hold him or not. When Wilbur held Tommy in his arms, Tommy took his first breath in his beloved brother's arms at 1:50 (which was so wholesome i can't-). Then the story goes on, Wilbur's voices, Arrival of Techo, De@th of Mumza, Philza leaving his children behind, Tommy's confession to Wilbur that he saw Philza leaving, The broke out of War, Explosion of the country, Techno and Sapnap fighting.... then Phil showed up at 3:00 . (Idk if i left some points so forgive me) Tommy was delighted to see his father and immediately ran to him but Sapnap ruined it. (Istg why did u had to ruin it Sapnap?! u should've just let them meet ;-; ) Sapnap threw the dagger right into Tommy's heart. Wilbur was devastated and took Tommy in his hands. Tommy took his last breath in Wilbur's arms. From 3:17 to 3:39 (This broke my heart into *SO MANY* pieces that it can't be fixed. No I'm not okay) So for the conclusion of this long comment is that Tommy who took his first breath in his beloved arms of his brother also took his last breath in Wilbur's arms. When i figured it out i was absolutely broken resulting into a mental breakdown in the middle of the night :') I just shared my thoughts in this comment because no one in my family is interested in this and i really wanted to get this off of my chest. I didn't expected for the comment to be THIS long but once i started i went away with it lol. For the people who took their time and read my comment, Thank you 💕💕 for reading my comment this far! Hope you have a great day/night! :D💕
this animatic just reminded me how devastatingly beautiful passerine is- The song choice, the art style, the little audio edits. All of it, it actually made me cry Amazing work!!
If your not finished with it yet, then I would say you should, if you haven’t read chapter 7 then your missing an opportunity to cry, theres more sad to go 🤍
I love this community so much, we have so many brilliant, hard working and amazing creative minds that out so much effort, time, and soul into there things that whenever I see things like this I am proud to be part of the DreamSMP community. Thank you for blessing us with this, you did an amazing job. Stay awesome! :D
You can really tell how well Kazuallyy made this video, you get the gist of thw storyline from only the video and i showed my friend who hasnt read Passerine this and she cried when Tommy died, which is thw same reaction i had the first ten times i wathed this. Truly amazing work!!
Bruhhhhh. Right next to SAD-ist’s Sunsprite’s Eulogy, this is the best Passerine animatic ever. There are so many details that are so iconic in the story. The art is gorgeous & the scenes pace well with the music. The freakin’ audio made my heart ache! I love how you capture the emotions of each character. This is so amazing. Love your work!
4:07 OH MY GOD, YOU’RE THE ONE PERSON WHO PUT THE SCENE WHERE- OMG I LOVE THAT PART ALSO HOW FAST TOMMY STOPS CRYING AND HE’S LIKE- *”Anything you say? 👹”*
y’know, this is probably like at least my 10th time watching this animatic. The first time I watched it was about a little over a year ago after i first read passerine. Passerine, along with this animatic is what got me into sbi and that portion of the dsmp. This animatic is also what got me into my now all time favorite musicians, sleeping at last. I also really really love kazuallyy’s art style. like i dont know how to describe it but its probably one of my favorite art styles out there. anywayyy just thought i needed to say that. so thanks, kaz.
Wilbur spoke the words he’d first spoken to his brother all those years before, over, and over, like an enchantment or a prayer to bring him back to life once more. ‘I will love you forever, I will love you forever, I will love you forever.’ But this time, Tommy did not wake up.
I'm late, but let me just say, out of all the scenes you've made, I loved the last one the most. It's just *them*. Finally coming to terms with it. Finally moving on. Maybe it's not their happiest days, but they are, at least, happier. Just them doing casual banter, reminiscing about the old days. I loved it. It was emotional to me, because that's how I wish all stories would end. Just a little bit mature; a little bit kinder; a little bit happier. You may not see this, but thank you, you absolute legend 💖

Pain. Such a small word for such a big thing.
“We’ll play for you,” Techno vowed. “When we get home, we’ll play for you as many times as you want, Tommy. I’ll let you beat me when we spar. I’ll let you braid my hair, or even cut it all off if you want to. Anything you want, just keep your eyes open.”
A shadow fell over them, in the shape of wings that Tommy had only seen once before, when he had flown out of Tommy’s bedroom window and out of their lives forever.
“Please. I’m so scared.”
“We’re here, Tommy.” A kiss on his forehead. Someone holding his hand. Strong arms around him. Wilbur, humming his old lullaby. Warmth, even in the dark. “We’ll always be here.”
-too late.

IKR, i’ve been trying to convince my non-dsmp friends to read it cause it’s literally a work of art
I agree completely and that is part of the reason I love it so freaking much
i literally explained the entire plot to my sister because she didn't know why a thing made me sad-

Hey non-DSMP fan here. I know more about the content than the average person because my friend is into it, but much less than any fan. And I read Passerine. And it was GORGEOUSLY written and SO moving. I'd recommend it to anyone.
@@sophiecrophie7540 I respect you immensely for that
“You’re an… ass,” Tommy wheezed. “And your tea is garbage.”
Wilbur swiped a thumb across his own mouth to wipe his smile away. “Techno made that tea.”
“Oh.” Tommy looked down at the tiny teacup with curiosity; he could not imagine his hardened tutor patiently brewing tea for anyone, even Wilbur. “It’s alright, then.”
“Gods, Tommy.” Wilbur placed his elbow on his desk and rested his cheek against the heel of his hand. The look he gave Tommy was one of utmost affection, despite the obvious exhaustion etched into every inch of his face. “Will you ever grow out of your hero-worship of him?”
Tommy took another, considerably smaller bite of his apple.

Since everybody appears to be dropping their favorite Passerine quotes, as they do on thr comment section of every Passerine related video, here's my favorite excerpt:
“I was content, for a while, to watch the kingdom grow. Forgive an old god for wanting a piece of that for himself.”
that's one of my favourites too, it's so underrated :')
We’re going to win,” Tommy said, his ears still ringing with the crowd’s approval. “We’re actually going to win, aren’t we?”
Wilbur and Techno exchanged one glance-one glance, and all was forgiven, the conversation shelved for another day.
“What the hell’s a sycophant?”
“Gods.” The king gave his brother a look that was equal parts annoyed and adoring. “Remind me to hire a better linguistics tutor for you when we get home.”
Tommy rolled his eyes. “Good luck finding someone that can stand me. I’ll chase anyone away in three days, at most. Bet your whole damn life on it.”
Wilbur grinned at Technoblade. “I can think of one person. Techno, will you-”
“Finish that sentence,” Technoblade drawled in his usual monotone manner, “and I will end your bloodline right on this balcony. I will throw you off, witnesses be damned.”
Ik this is late but i have to say, this brought a smile to my face. A small one, but it helps because this au is so sad! 😭
"Always fighting, you lot,” Mother said with a small smile, but her eyes were sad. “Deep breaths now, Wil. Tell me what you know.”
“I was in a city in the north,” Wilbur said, his mouth tasting of ash and melting snow. “Outside a-a church. With broken windows.”
“Yes, you were.”
“I don’t play the violin.”
“No, you don’t.”
Wilbur glanced at his mother’s painting, the one with soft colors and old lines. “And Tommy will never live past fifteen.”
“No,” Mother replied, regret and sorrow-two of Wilbur’s own restless shadows-gleaming in her eyes, “he won’t.”
"Wil?” Father reached out and ruffled Wilbur’s hair playfully. “You look a hundred miles away.”
Wilbur exhaled slowly. “I’m just… remembering.”
“Remembering what?”
This. Mother’s soft smile. Tommy’s cheery laugh. Technoblade’s half-hearted protests. Father’s hand on his head. Everything.
“Nothing,” Wilbur said. “Forget I said anything.” He smiled at his father, for once without reservation. He had never felt so light. He was almost a son again. “Would you like to watch Techno and I spar?”
Father’s expression softened. “Of course. I would be delighted to.”

“Tell me how the story ends,” Wilbur begged, even as he felt the last of his consciousness slowly fracture into nothingness. “Tell me you’ll still be here when I close the book.”

“Welcome to the world of big brotherhood,” Wilbur replied bitterly, still wiping gently at Tommy’s face. “We hope you enjoy your stay, but most likely you will suffer.”)
The family picking apples in the orchard- awwwww my heart is melting
The lil' scene where Tommy fell off the side of the castle and broke his arm (When he was a child, Tommy had tried to scale the side of the castle. He did not remember the fall, but he remembered the crash. He remembered the feeling of his bones splintering underneath him, the pain so blinding that he almost passed out.
“Missed breakfast and lunch.”
Wilbur only grunted in response.
“Kingdom’s on fire,” Tommy continued. “Rioting in the streets. The guards are staging a coup. Techno is leading them.”
“Sure, Tommy,” Wilbur said noncommittally, reaching to dip his quill into the inkpot.
"Somewhere in the distance, the Green God began to smile.
" - Last line of chapter 4
Technoblade never dies, the voices urged, promised, cursed. “I guess we’ll have to see,” Technoblade replied, and began to laugh.
goddammit this is gonna break me
can't wait to see all the people in the comments posting quotes from the fic to break me even more :)
“Please don’t tell Father,” Wilbur begged as he kneeled in front of his wailing brother, wiping Tommy’s cheeks as fast as the tears came. “It was an accident, Tommy.”
Technoblade was cackling, leaning against one of the pavilion’s sculpted pillars. “You should see your face!” he managed to wheeze out between his guffaws. “Oh, gods, this is too hilarious-”
Wilbur turned to glare at him. “You do know, if he tells Father, that it means you’re in trouble, too?”
Technoblade snorted. “I’m not scared of your father.”
There it was again.
Stop.”
Tommy didn’t.
“Tommy, stop,” Technoblade said more loudly.
“We hope you enjoy your stay, but most likely you will suffer.”
Technoblade came to kneel beside Wilbur.
“Tommy,” Technoblade demanded. “That is very irritating, what you are doing. Please quieten down.”
Tommy responded by crying louder.
“Oh, for the love of-What will it take for you to shut up? I’ll do anything at this point.”
The crying stopped immediately.
“Oh, gods.” Wilbur put his face in his hands. “You’re not supposed to say that, Techno. You’re never supposed to say that!”
“What? What?” Technoblade demanded, panic seeping into his voice for the first time since Wilbur met him. “What did I do? What the hell did I do?”
Tommy sniffled. “You said you’ll do… anything?”
Realization dawned on Technoblade’s face. “Well, not anything, per se…”
Tommy’s eyes began to water once more.
“Okay, okay, okay.” Technoblade ran his hands across his face in frustration. “Fine. One thing, and you’ll shut up forever.”
“I want to braid your hair,” Tommy said at once.
Technoblade blinked. “What?”
“What?” Wilbur echoed. “You once got me to let you ride me like a pony across the castle, and you ask him to let you braid his hair?”
Tommy nodded with all the solemnity of a judge announcing someone’s death sentence.

Who' here after the drama and loving the story and wishing everything could jsut go back to how it was.
This story is something truly unfathomable, there’s something within it that creates a whole new place and feeling, and quite frankly I think it’s beautiful.
"I will love you without a single string attached."
This is actually how family works, it is really beautiful.
I was going to reply with "Sadly, it depends on the family."
Then I remembered that family is not bound by blood, but instead bound by love. Thank you for this comment.

man i never thought a comment would make me cry so hard 😂😂😂😭😭😭
Techno staggered towards them, his blood as heavy as lead, his vision hazy. But he could see the one thing that mattered. His Tommy, lying so still in his brother’s arms. His Tommy, who braided his hair with sweet-smelling flowers. His Tommy, who was quick to anger but quicker to laugh. His Tommy.
YOUR ART WAS WHAT MADE ME READ PASSERINE IN THE FIRST PLACE THIS WILL _BREAK_ ME

“I will love you, without requisite or deadline, I will love you.” 😭🔫
“Tommy,” Wilbur whispered into Tommy’s hair, “you were six.”
"war such a small word for such a big thing."
"Death such a small word for such a big thing."
"God such a big word for such a small thing."
"His mother's laugh had never sounded clearer."
"Niki hoped they would plant the prettiest flowers on her grave." (Idk if I got that one right.)
"War, such a small word for such a big thing."
I'mma go now. 🚪🚶♀️
That "Tommy, please!" just made my heart drop and, cover my skin with chills.
The fact that it started with Wilburs dream kinda killed me. ALSO THE BIT AT THE END WHERE YOU TOOK THE SONG AND THEN THE TWO LINES!!! HOLY SHIT!
“Without requisite or deadline, I will love you.” IM SOBBING PLEASE
reading Passerine broke my heart multiple times, but this broke my heart once more.
This did passerine justice, showing both the exuberant highs and the depressive lows
2:51 I FUCKING LOVE HOW YOU USED CURRENT AND YOUNGER TOMMY'S VOICE IT GIVES ME LITERAL CHILLS
I sobbed, I cried, tears rolling down my face. I'm done, I haven't even read passerine yet because I've heard its sad, but the song and just the animatic and the small details. I'm soft don't touch me

All the scenes in the end had me CRYING. I was doing SO GOOD KEEPING MY SELF TOGETHER FRICK YOU MAN IM SO SAD
I absolutely love the little snippets of dsmp audios you added, and THE CHOICES OF WHICH SCENE TO PUT IN THE END THEY WERE SO BEAUTIFUL IM CRYING
i'm sobbing over the scene where wilbur held tommy for the first time omfg well done
I’ve been crying for over five hours 😢
The song choice itself had be crying, this broke me as expected but on a positive note amazing art as always!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AT 3:35 WHEN YOU USED THE ACTUAL VOICES-
That broke me so well, this is undeniably the saddest yet amazing things ive ever seen
That was such a good fan-fic
I literally balled my eyes out when tommy and Wilbur fought and tommy was like:
“Run after me wilbur,please”
There was pain. So much pain. He thought he’d already felt pain, but what did he truly know? He was only fifteen.
(Idk if i left some points so forgive me)
Tommy was delighted to see his father and immediately ran to him but Sapnap ruined it. No I'm not okay)
So for the conclusion of this long comment is that Tommy who took his first breath in his beloved arms of his brother also took his last breath in Wilbur's arms. When i figured it out i was absolutely broken resulting into a mental breakdown in the middle of the night :')
I just shared my thoughts in this comment because no one in my family is interested in this and i really wanted to get this off of my chest. I didn't expected for the comment to be THIS long but once i started i went away with it lol. For the people who took their time and read my comment, Thank you 💕💕 for reading my comment this far! Hope you have a great day/night! :D💕

It... It was gorgeous
Why tf am I crying it’s not even 7am yet.
Wilbur spoke the words he’d first spoken to his brother all those years before, over, and over, like an enchantment or a prayer to bring him back to life once more.
‘I will love you forever, I will love you forever, I will love you forever.’
But this time, Tommy did not wake up.
You may not see this, but thank you, you absolute legend 💖
hi!! thank you so much :D the last scene was one of most fun to animate hehe
