Sad-ist even caught the part where Kristen winced as Tommy ran into her.
You can see Phil holding her waist like in the fan fiction, you can see Kristen’s eyes turn black, you can even feel that something is off.
That something very bad was going to happen even in that moment of joy.
And you sense the fear in Wilbur’s eyes as Techno knocks on his door, just a few hours ago all was fine, all the excitement and happiness of finally seeing their mother go outside.
And how everything suddenly changed, how the grief hit them like lightning hitting a tree, the shock, Tommy’s crying and screaming while not knowing what happened, and never knowing that he would be next
Sad-ist’s animatic and Bluejama’s fan-fiction are pure gold, the emotion they can show through art and words..

I'm glad people are getting a better picture of quality fanfiction. I won't pretend a large amount isn't pure ships or questionable writing, but a lot of it is also literal art. It's taking characters or a universe or an idea and making it something more/completely different. Maybe you want a character to NOT die, go ahead, make it happen. Maybe you want to imagine a post apocalyptic world their forced to survive in, make it happen. Hell, maybe you want a slice of life indulgent read, that's okay!
There are plenty of literary masterpieces to be found in fanfiction when given the chance.
I agree, while a large portion of Dream SMP fanfiction is just a bunch of Smut (or lemon if that's the term you prefer to use), but there are some hidden gems, a lot of fanfiction isn't about ships or romance. They're about family, and how they overcome problem after problem (or they don't I quite enjoy hurt no comfort-), I think people are forgetting it's not all that bad and there is a lot of good fanfiction out there!
It's what's nice about ao3. Just cancel out the mature ratings and ships and you literally have thousands of quality stories with these characters.
I love this part of the community!

@@fatimaabdulsattar9223 Little Voice by Madamsugarskulls is a great fic! It's not exactly like Passerine but so far it's turned out to be one of my favorites. I won't say much about it since I don't want to spoil it but Tommy gains a voice in his head while he's about to jump off the nether bridge and everything turns into one big emotional roller coaster from then on. :)

I think what made it a lot more enjoyable for me is that the characters aren’t really relatable to the dream SMP characters. I think wilbur might like it more that way because it’s not as much about Wilbur as it is the authors own character

I adore how all the ccs have been reacting to and supporting artists in this past year. like, Wil literally goes into a whole speech about how great it is. god I love this.
also god I know "fanfiction" is such an alarming term but this one, Passerine, isn't creepy or shippy it's just pure ART
Some fanfics really are just so well written and genuinely funny and a super compelling read
I really wish the public sort out the smut and self inserts because there are tons of cool fanfiction out there.
As a former fan fiction writer, I completely agree when you see the purest of the pure want to show their talent and imagination.
Fanfiction in its purest form is literally using pre-existing characters to craft out a story. There is literally nothing weird or creepy about it, and I can't help but feel sad that those beautifully crafted stories have to be dismissed like that.

Honestly I hope this brings more attention to the actual fan fiction because I read it after watching the animation and not only did it help me understand the video, but it gave so much more detail and emotion.

I'm gonna be honest and say that a lot of effort are put into fanfictions but THAT kind of fanfiction (with the grammar and the plot), it's SO hard to find it satistfies me so much that that one story could last me a lifetime ಥ‿ಥ PLUS THE LONG CHAPS

there are x oc's fanfics that are really good!
On ao3, pretty much anything by Silverwing15 and MatleenaMaddie. They are are writing duo that churn out great stuff almost on the daily

I had read the fan fiction and I had started crying. Seeing the animatic made me cry again. That's how great the community is. They can make such amazing but emotional and heartfelt story's, animatics comics, etc.

I truly believe fanfics are a form of art if you look for the right ones.
Everyone has a bad picture of what fanfiction actually is; its not just ships, smut, ect.
There's angst, theres timeline changing, there are what-ifs and different universes!
Aus also arent bad if you look for the right ones too.
What I'm saying is, fanfics aren't all necessarily bad. Sure there are the very questionable ones, but if you dig deeper you find works of art like The Passerine.
It just depends on where you look.

Wilbur like genuinely paid attention, and talked about how great it was after. Everyone else, which I'd expect to act this way, but everyone else was just confused and laughing. So it surprises me Niki's the one to read it. But I'm happy that she is, since English isn't her first Language, I'm proud of her for reading infront of an audience, and taking her time to read Passerine to find out what all the attention It's getting is about.
Fun fact: if you want to understand this animation, I recommend reading this short story under the SAD-ist video first. I did not listen and now I regret it because it spoiled me, but ok

There are some amazing ones out there (though i have not gotten into the Dream SMP ones or Sleepy bois). Gives you an interesting story with characters you already know and can even provide a story you wish you could have had (for alternate routes of the story or if the OG one is poorly written you want to see a well written one)
Passerine is a rollercoaster of emotions. The animation is what got me to read the story, my god I was a wreck.
