A prototype of the unreleased video game adaptation of the Shadowhawk comics for the Nintendo SNES. Shadowhawk is a comic by Image Comics (or rather their sister studio, Shadowline), a studio set up by people who worked for places like Marvel, but wanted to retain copyright of their creations. Jim Valentino was one of those people, and he created Shadowhawk, an anti-hero who went on a vendetta after getting attacked and infected with HIV.

Notes
The archive includes both a "fixed" version plus the original ROM backup. The "fixed" versions originates from a bootleg run done by Rose Colored Gaming. The "fixed" ROM contains 262 byte changes that fix the internal ROM header, and enemy behavior.
The sound is mono only. All sound plays on the left channel.
As someone who unironically collected and specifically having nearly memorized the original Shadowhawk series, this is golden.
The grappling hook makes this a potential block Buster. The flips look great animation is good. It just looks fun to play
This looks great. Reminds me of Maximum Carnage. Definitely gonna give this a play myself.
… yessss!!! With maybe a twist of batman? That grappling hook and boomerang are freakin rad!!! I love how you can land on sukkas
shame this never dropped. Seems EXACTLY like the thing I would have loved to play as a kid.
Looks awesome, kinda funny though. The enemy look like duke nukem and gambit lol
Maybe they were placeholders until the game was further developed?
This game deserves a remake in open world, like Assassin Creed. Also deserves movies or series adaption, including Netflix or Amazon Prime
For a Prototype this looks much complete... And that music and sounds are cool enough even though is mono... This is a Prototype that really looks like can give fun for what it lasts... This feels more like a Demo than a Prototype...
I remember wanting this game.
My favorite spine snapper! This and Lobo are my favorite unreleased games.
I remember this comic! Never knew they made a game.
That is an impressive looking game. I love comic style games. 90% of most cancelled games, licensing issues or copyright similarities. Would of bought it day one.
Yeah like Sega genesis comic zone maximum carnage, I would even consider tiny Toon adventures comic style game
This game looks like dog shit
@@fellowhuman3744 nobody asked for your opinion. Start a new thread troll.
No kidding, it's a total batman ripoff.
@@Thesavagesouls probably did start as a Batman game, but there has been several games that couldn't get the license. Poor sunman. Not even superman could be a good game.
That was an amazing comic book, still have the first two trade paper backs. Lends itself very easily to a beat em up
Me: I want this unreleased Batman game!
Mom: We have unreleased Batman at home.
Unreleased Batman at home:
My favorite comic back in the day
With those spiderman mechanics you could really make a good Spider-Man game with how he was doing the webbing was awesome
2:35 Dude nice Combo!
this game remembers me a Spider-man game from a snes and looks very wel for being a prototype.
If memory serves, this guy intentionally broke criminals spines, as to prevent them causing further crime. Am I remembering that correctly?
Yo I remember reading the comic book series
I remember buying the first showdowhawk comic from image
Reading his origin blows my mind...
This is awesome I would have loved this back in the day
The hit detection is so sweet
Yes, a selling point, as it was more 'realistic' for that time.
Cant stop laughing at the guys you smack to death who try to shoot you from the windows lol
MK style boss fights. It's interesting, is it possible to do a fatality?...
The first level reminds me of RoboCop vs. Terminator game.
I love the comic I never knew they made this game.
Has potential. Could have been a decent weekend rental.
I would’ve played it. Seems like budget Spider-Man
Nice Animations!
Why tho?
Looks great. The main character looks liek he would be an enemy in super contra.
That would of been sick.
Person playing is really giving us a beautiful show of what this game can do. I hope Nintendo or someone else release this game now. Kinda like starfox 2
The main character looks like if Batman, Wolverine, Daredevil, Nightwing and Spider-Man were fused together.
Yeah that was the 90s
This was a comic series in the 90s on Image. I think Spawn was in an issue with Shadowhawk.
@@SeaTK610 yeah he was part of Image's first wave. All the big creators got their new characters-- Todd MacFarlane had Spawn, Erik Larsen had Savage Dragon, Jim Lee had WILDCATS, and Jim Valentino did Shadowhawk.
Unsurprisingly none of them really made a mark on anything outside of Spawn, and very arguably Savage Dragon.
@@chavesa5 true I have all those imagine number ones. I know they made. A wildcats games and did they make a savage dragon one or was that a cartoon I forget.
@@SeaTK610 There was a Savage Dragon cartoon but I don’t know if there was a game. Wildcats had a toon as well I believe.
The soundtrack is so good!
This looks really good. I would have totally made this a heavy rotator from Blockbuster.
The character's acrobatic movements resemble Strider and Spider-man.
To me 16-bit gaming still has Alot to offer even more so today ever due to the advancements of software development to use
Always good to see 16 bit style graphics in new games
'I'm Legally-Distinct Batman!'
Interesting how it's a standard platform most of the time but becomes like a fighter when against bosses.
It is a bit like mazin saga that was released ages ago for the mega drive genesis featuring mazinger
wow this looks pretty good, I know I would've loved this game as a kid. I think I still have my issue #1 of Shadowhawk somewhere lol
Yeah, I'm going to look for my old comics and I know I had Shadowhawk #1. I remember the cover was nice
They make a great base for a Batman game.
Funny that they have rats running on the roof tops..lol
Wow...nicely done. It's like it takes many of the best qualities in late 8-bit to early 16-bit games, and puts them in one package. If this had been made in that era, it easily would have dominated the competition, and we'd all see Shadowhawk everywhere. Even now, I'd spend a couple dollars on Steam for this...even more impressive that you're just giving it away.
Also, just so I'm understanding this correctly, you made this in modern times in a retro fashion, this isn't an actual old game that was dug up, correct? If it was the latter, then they missed a cash cow in failing to release this....
Very nice, one of my favorite Image comics besides Deathmate, it's cool how they added parts of the actual Hawks Shadow Series in the game(strike that I'm pretty sure this is from the Shadowhawk 1 not 2 series)(strike that again, it's got all three series, but arson gets baking soda throw on him for defear..lol)
Oh heck yeah!!! A BO0’MERANG!? I love Beat em ups and this definitely would’ve gotten my attention
i swear this is just spiderman
I'm guessing there's no good ending because it wasn't programmed yet.
Looks mostly complete
Looks like SNES answer to comic zone for SG.
Dam I thought I downloaded all the sne games then I stumble on this game thanks man👍
Shadow Hawk looks like one of the best SNES games in it's genre
Guy: "Yes, officer, me and my friends were just hanging out on the rooftop after a Street Fighter Guile cosplay event and this freak started attacking us with boomerangs. Now, the trenchcoat guys firing guns might have been breaking the law, but we didn't deserve physical violence by this vigilante."
I remember shadow hawk, image created him in the 90s as a response to marvels dark hawk. Both characters died
ShadowHawk vs Wolverine?😏
Looks Good.....
🔥DAMN!🔥
This should've been a full game!
I would've played it & owned it.
"Why do you do it?", "JUSTICE!".
looks like a mix of bionicc commando with robocop jaj
Interesting to see the Spiderman/PS3 font used in e-studio's logo way before play station was even a thing (or at least, more than a CD add on for snes)
That’s because I don’t think this was an actual snes thing but it was one of the first “apps” for old cell phones around ‘05 I think it was. I remember playing this game on a phone and thinking: “wow they are really stepping it up! Now if they could put full rap songs on a phone too that would be awesome!” (This was before iPhones were even out so who knew? At that time it was crazy to see this, let alone what’s out and on phones now!) If you go back to the beginning of the concept of games on phones, many were looped repetitive games that weren’t fleshed out all the way as they were seen as “time killers” to do while you were waiting. Since games used so much power and ram on your phone back then, people didn’t play a game for more than 20 minutes so there’s plenty games that have no “ending” per se, they just began again after the “end”. That’s why they had so many tabletop games that were converted into video games because they didn’t require story or characters or designers for much. Only after the iPhone came out in 07 was there a big boom in application development. Once the iPad was released it REALLY exploded into what we have today.
The character design is cool
Подскажите модель приставки SNES со встроенными играми и возможность играть с SD картой? Хочу играть во всю библиотеку игр snes
Fantastic!😉👏👏
Not bad. Probably would've served better as a GBA game tho.
Is this a new released prototype? I remember playing this a couple of years ago, but with no sound.
Wait they did release this game but it was on the first generation of cell phones that could hold games from Motorola I believe. I never knew that it was a snes prototype or that it was supposed to be on the snes. I remember playing this though on a cell phone WAAAAAAY back in the day (damn near 20 years ago now!) This is crazy seeing this!
Shaowhawk was an old image comic I believe few other games from that imprint were being developed but got Cancelled
Just a bit more polish (some punches, a back breaker finisher move) and this would've been a classic!
Wow... Looks exactly like the "Batman - The Movie" game on AMIGA. Almost same animations (ok, Batman doesn't roll midair), same grappling hook, same "Batarang" - but all much faster. Nice piece of software.
Started off cool, but looks super monotonous. This gas strong Marvel LJN vibes.
Watching other people playing is always boring
Wow I had this comic book
the happening 90s are back
Why this wasnt transitioned into a spiderman or batman game i will never know
character design & logo looks exactly like batman beyond cartoon series, changed here & there, guessing this was originally a batman beyond game, but the pitch never got through.
Looks like a prototype that got shelved but could be reused as a Spider-Man game
Looks similar to the GBA spiderman game
Great ending; You win! No, wait... You fail! Game over!
Looks so much like the Gameboy Wolverine game.
Thanks
Pretty cool, suks it never came out, I would've brought it
What I'm looking for is new light gun games so I can bust out theSuper Scope & have a blast pun intended
Wasn't this the Super hero who had AIDS or HIV? I remember reading his 1st issue and having it in middle school. Need to go back and read it again. Game looks fantastic as well.
Yeah he had AIDS i think and matter fact I think Chapel from Youngbloods had HIV.
Silver Wolverine is pretty cool
How do u have access to all these gems.
Pepsiman beating up Guile clones. Good s-t.
Oh my goddnes , ineed It, now!
I never seen that game before.
It looks like a fusion of wolverine and silver surfer.
Oh this is great. Got a rom for it?
I played this on an emulator. Was kind of puzzled because I’ve never heard of it again till now.
Would to have loved to have owed this it they would have released it like they did Wildcats back in the 90s or early 2000 at least I have the comic's and his box collection card's.
Odd ending, but I'm guessing it's because the game is unfinished.
no way, you think so??
Reminds me of Batman game on the Atari ST520e
Longplay of this would be nice. This game looks very damn cool tho. It turns into a fighting game too! Wonder if there's a code to unlock some jank 1 on 1 action.
Why weren't it released looks fantastic ide get this really bad
Shadow hawk is so 90s
It's not as 90's as Superboy, but it's damned close.
Reminds me of Arcade's Revenge.
I heard of this hero before, and how he's infected with the HIV/AIDS virus and only has a short time before the virus claims him.
wow!
With the night vigilante who has a boomerang and grappling hook thing you almost have to wonder why this wasn't a Batman game.
Also "Crime is a cancer and i'm the surgeon". Obviously a thinly disguised ripoff of the movie Cobra's tagline "Crime is a disease, meet the cure"
It's Spider-Wolverine.
