MAKING OF SAHE CHITHI

The first wedding invite is an emotional event in so many ways…it’s symbolic, it’s auspicious and it’s sacred. In some parts of India, it’s also presented to the gods like Ganpati in a temple first. While designing the Sahe Chitthi, we had to incorporate all these elements and feelings associated with this gesture. And so we brainstormed, and somehow the Palki made so much sense…it carries the bride to her new home, and we designed a mini palki, with the mithai box, shagun envelope and Sahe Chitthi wrapped in a scroll seated in it, all set for the parents of the bride to be to carry her on this journey to her new life. Little elements, like an Ek Onkar penned in haldi, the invite screen printed in calligraphy in different languages, drops of saffron sprinkled on it…ceremonious, but reflective of the heritage we are trying to preserve, and the tradition we want to carry forward.
