  • There is no other vegetable spacing I agonize over more than Tomatoes. I have tried so many different arrangements over the years.

Enjoy your commentaries very much. Do you ever leave your beds or fields fallow?

It worked for us on the field in zone 10b. It was great for space sakes

Have you experimented with continuous-feed through the drip lines?

New Subscriber here. You mentioned disease. Do you do foliar spraying? Korean Natural Farming uses an Oriental Nutrient formula which they spray weekly. They also soak seeds in it before planting. Larger the seed means longer soaking time. OHN is involved to make but it keeps plants healthy.
Curious. You are planting grafted transplants at say 2 weeks of development. How long will your tomatoes produce? How long are they in the ground before you take them down? And how many tomatoes do you get per plant?
I don't have one yet but I am interested in a climate battery Greenhouse.

Hi Conor and thanks for the video. Will you recommand this intensive spacing (2 rows per bed with 2 feet spacing) and the lower and lean method for an unhetaed greenhouse? Will it work without heat? What about fungal diseases? Thanks!

Single row double leader has yielded the same for me with only starting out half the plants-certainly more economical for me

Are they all leaned in one direction? How do you deal with running out of space at the end of the row?

Hey! Your videos are very interesting, thanks for sharing! I have a question for you: why is it that you don't do single plants with 2 heads going each sides of the bed? From our experience, the most critical argument is not necessarly space between plants but, in the case of the greenhouse, mostly the number of heads that occupy an area (in square meters or foot for you guys), since light is the main factor in the success of this crop (and the greenhouse, and all crops...). I just feel like you could cut by a big margin your expenses of tomato seeds and grafting activites if you calculated how many head you want per square meter. We aim for 2,7 heads/m2 for the beef tomato. Looking forward for your next videos. Your mindset is really inspiring.

Our seed costs are minimal and I have an ultra simple and fast grafting method. Thus I find multiple heads to not help financially. I actually find that it reduces production for me. I like to keep it simple, maximize production and just keep it to a single leader.

That's mysteriously interesting. Thanks for the answer

For me, tomato’s do better with more spacing. I do 4’ between plants and 5’ between rows. My plants explode with more space, have bigger yields, and are much easier to weed and pick fruit!

How do you avoid disease when growing tomatoes in the same spot each year?
