Nothing says you're a man like a 30 foot obelisk, love it. This is a wonderful presentation. Truly, the pioneers and movers and shakers of early California are buried here. Canfield's partner Doheny, not only was involved in the Tea Pot Dome scandal, Doheny's son was killed in mysterious circumstances with his male secretary at his Beverly Hills Greystone Mansion.The Canfield's daughter Daisy was driven over a cliff by her chaffeur returning from a party to her Silver Lake hill top mansion. I have quite a few members of my family who are buried here. This was such a well done and touching documentary. Nothing I have seen encapsulates the "residents" of Evergreen as this series has, thank you. I look forward to part 3.
Thank you for your very encouraging and kind words. One thing I found so interesting about Evergreen is how many "newer" graves are among the very old ones. The past and the present truly comes together there.

I love your videos. The one about the ghost of Riverside, CA cemetery was personal to me as I have relatives buried there dating back to the 1800's. I also used to hang out in the outside rooms (You stated were used to hold the dead before refrigeration) while ditching middle school. I also have kin in Riverside's Olivewood Cemetery (Including a brother) and have always found these to cemeteries brought fascination of history and peace to me. I now live in Herndon, VA across the street from one of the oldest cemeteries in VA. and often take walks and reflect on live's of the people buried there.Keep doing what you do. PS: I'm sure in your research you found that Riverside's Evergreen Cemetery butted up against old China town.

Although I'm a retired cop and have investigative skills I'm lacking your experience in story telling. As I stated, we have one of Virginias oldest grave yards across the street and I'll see what I can dig up and will forward to you all background info and video for you to do what you do if you're interested.

Love American history and these videos of yours are superb.
Somehow I missed your last video, Angelus-Rosdale, watched it with two weeks delay and it it bring me back to your great trilogies, Calvary and Evergreen cemeteries and you both of them finished with this mesmerising music, if you don`t mind, who is author and what is title of it? Looking forward to your new videos, you`re such a great storyteller, I could listen them whole night. Kudos for reasrch and all hard work you put in to all this!

One tidbit of advice would be to work on the transitions from one story to the other. Some people may be mistaken that you are still speaking about one person’s story while already have moved onto another.

This cemetery is a couple of blocks from my home. Good place for a walk or exercise.
Regarding Rochester. Aside from the stars, I heard he was the highest paid actor on tv at the time so Jack Benny was not as stingy as they say.

Can you do Bardsdale cemetery in Bardsdale Ca ? It’s near Los Angeles
I wish we could go back to the way the Victorians viewed cemeteries. They were places where people would gather and enjoy themselves. They would pack a picnic lunch and they were more like parks than the gloomy places some people view them to be.
You'd enjoy Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn NY. It was designed by William Law Olmstead who designed Manhattan's Central Park and Charlotte, NC's Freedom Park. Greenwood has lots of benches and grassy areas. The statuary and mausoleums will never see their equal created again. There are many famous buried there. Frank Morgan (The Wizard Of OZ) Leonard Bernstein, Joey Gallo and many others. You can see it on line. They have a computerized (resident) list out front so if you want to browse or look for someone you know is there it will tell you the plot number and there are free maps so you can drive as far as you can before you have to walk. The oldest parts are crowded and the place is big so you must walk down the lanes to the plots. The most open areas are near the fence.

Griffin I already knew I missed and have been kicking myself ever since. I went to see Canfields grave and it has since been vandalized...the cement potters were knocked over.
That is very sad news indeed! When I was there last, I saw signs of damage, but it seems that it's allowed to get worse and worse. Such a shame. Thank you for sharing the news.

Why don't they cut the high grass at these pioneers graves? Even the stars of radio or some church, the weeds are overtaking the graves. No respect for the dead who gave so much of themselves to make something out of nothing.
