Thank you, this came across as a recap of your experiences with the trilogy and not just rehashing what so many others have said about it. I am a HUGE Beatles fan, but I am by no means a completist. I have most all of the band's official recordings, and quite a few of their solo works, but I am not compelled to own everything they ever did. I have never owned any of these 3 LPs by John and Yoko, and I have never been tempted to buy them. Thanks for confirming for me that I'm not missing anything.

John wanted an exit strategy from the Beatles and this was it. The message: "Don't expect anything great from me." I remember buying this piece of poop when it came out thinking that it would be some ass-kicking rock and roll. Imagine my shock when I realized I had blown my minimum wage paycheck on this steaming piece of crap. I guess there is no way anyone could be as famous as he was without going completely insane. You can't even call this music and really its an insult to a turd to call it shit. He had to have been laughing at all of us thinking 'I'm so famous, people will gobble up this crap because my name is on it.' And he was f***ing right.

I've tried to like these albums, really, but I just can't. There's just nothing worthwhile on them. And even worse, it's not even particularly original, as others had been doing this kind of thing for a while. My big takeaway from them is the degree to which John was influenced by his environment and his collaborators. When he had Paul around to ground and guide him, he was an absolute genius, one of the very best ever. But when he was with Yoko, he was just amplifying and regurgitating her noise.

I liked John Lennon so much that I bought Yoko's "Approximately Infinite Universe" thinking that perhaps John wrote some songs for her. It was a double album. I could not get thru side one without putting it back in its sleeve.

I used to enjoy Life With the Lions (unlike the other three) since I like feedback which is all over Cambridge 1969. No Bed For Beatle John may be the closest thing to a Lennon original on all three albums. Baby's heartbeat kind of keeps the baby's spirit alive as an artist (perhaps the only track with a rhythm). Lastly, I used to listen closely to Radio Play as it reminds me of the Lennon's at home. Thanks for the insights on these albums though-- I finally get the "unfinished" idea lol

Thanks for another interesting video. I've been a Beatles fan since the late 70s and never been able to get into these albums. This is the first time I've heard them described as a trilogy though, I believe it's just the first two are linked as Unfinished Music, although they do seem to stand out as alike in type. I do recall reading that John Lennon once said Avant Garde is French for bullshit; I believe that somes it up. Thanks again for the videos!

I do appreciate and (occasionally) enjoy the performance of 'Cambridge 1969'. I'd say it's ahead of its time, more aligned to Industrial Noise or Power Electronics. You have to give John his dues, he really does extract some warped tones and frequencies out of that Epiphone Casino.

Yoko is not one of THE artists .... she'd like to be - but without jumping into bed with John Lennon she would be almost a nobody ... I visited the exhibition in Bilbao (80th birthday) ... and it was "boring", white ladder, a fly on a female body etc. and when she "sings" it's simply an annoyance ...
she simply chose John for her career
