- Horizon Aircraft completes a series of flight tests on the large scale Cavorite prototype leading towards full transition flights. Over the past several months, the team has made incredible forward progress.
Tests include validation of the yaw control system, a key component of the patented HOVR Wing technology. This system enables precise hover and performance in strong crosswinds, providing a smoother and more comfortable ride for passengers as well as enhanced stability and control for pilots.

lol until I saw the ducted fans I was like how tf
Same! They pulled an uno card on us!
LOL. Great feedback! That was not our intent but I sincerely appreciate all of the positive feedback this has generated. More cool videos and tech progress coming soon! - Brandon
@@ebrandonrobinson410 An interesting design concept.… 🤔 HOWEVER… If it can’t propel you to the Moon… It ISN’T “Cavorite.” ✋😉
🌔🇬🇧☝️🧐👍💨💨 💨🌍
Very cool, was not expecting the vertical take off
Congratulations Horizon! It's great to see you take the next step towards a full-size machine.
Thank you. We are starting to build full-scale aircraft parts now, so definitely an exciting time.
Perhaps you could swivel the main rotor in stead or does thag not make sense as the in wing ones are so light?
They solve the battery problem with an extension cord. Brilliant!
Double check your vision... That is a chain hanging from a carabiner near what appears to be the CG of the aircraft!
@@TJLi-dev8 Pretty sure he was being sarcastic--hard to be sure these days I know.
@@TJLi-dev8 You're kidding right? The sarcasm of an aircraft flying around with an extension cord as normal escaped you??
@@terrarecon _ Actually there's So much Hatred toward any battery powered vehicles lately _ Absolutely nothing surprises me in what is posted negatively toward this or similar type of Electric Test Flight! _
It was a joke, people.....🤦♂️
That was a nice stable flight, congrats! Looking forward to the next bits!
That vertical lift caught me..
😂
Brb gotta strap radiator fans to my new vtol cessna
looks incredible. Well done to the Cavorite team!
Great work, congratulations! Looking forward to the transition!
This is a really cool concept! A little concerning (at least visually) with how much wing flex there is for such light flight testing.
You say light flight testing, but the wings are taking the full mass + whatever z acceleration. A bit of flex is of course not always a bad thing at all!
Encouraging to see an embedded lift system work at this scale.
@@tex.7242 I understand your point, but it's only descending at around 0.5m/s at a guess and at a constant rate, also not in turbulence or trying to arrest a faster decent with aggressive control inputs which would all place much more g load on it.
Of course I'm not questioning its strength; I'm sure it's been designed to accommodate the forces encountered in flight and more, it's just rather unnerving to see.
That is one beautiful aircraft!
Well-done love this design
Great job. Nice planes on that aircraft.
Wow so sleeky! It’s cool how u guys incorporated the ducted fans into the wing for less drag!
Congratulations team! One step closer!
Awesome!
Most impressive 😮
Congratulation, from Brazil.
Nice model
Cavorite? I can only assume its service ceiling is something like 238,000 miles.
He had such a terrible cold.
@@kbjerke And the Selenites, too!
i wonder how many people even get the reference
@@confuseatronica Indeed. It's an oldie but goodie! Gotta love Harryhausen, too!
@@confuseatronica Yes, I wonder. But the important people do, LOL!
The fuselage reminds me of the Carter Copter
Great name for a VTOL
Cool RC drone.
Well I hope they get the wing flex corrected, unless is part of the design just like the 787
Good idea testing with a power tether. Get good data and not be limited by battery capacity.
"Hey! You win all the awards A? Very good job. It hovers respectfully due to function. An excellent design. I would like a gas turbine version and an amphibian prototype. Your on to something futuristic and pleasing to the general public and civilian flyer." You have my full support. Do not forget the introduction of the fuselage parachute system. It seals marketing production as an authorized and approved safety feature for operator and passenger alike." 👍
Stall proof!
:)
Great
That bloody music spoiled the entire experience. Why do so many videos have crappy music on them. Do it again without the music.
Often I would agree, but this is a promo piece. It’s fine.
Completely agree. Annoying and completely unnecessary.
Clicked off after one minute, came for aviation news not bloody techno noise
😢😢😢😢 life goes on... mute it
Highly irritating
it looks interesting
Wow, someone has a great brain.
Im a heli Pilot, this was a great step forward, Good job, If you need a test Pilot Im available
Hi, what about cord that dingels from it is that a control cord or power cord? As an investor what time frame full scale will be up? Do you have orders? Are you planning on a R/S stock since it’s below $1 now ?
Interesting concept. Though that's all it really seems to be.
The fan-in-wing design is very nice though. I'm interested to see the transition, closing off the fans, whilst having sufficient aero lift, and then suddenly reducing the wing area by >50% as the LE and TE are retracted is going to be a careful balancing act.
Re: the flappy wings, unless that is sorted ASAP I'm predicting 'loss of prototype' once they attempt a transition into high-speed forward flight. It's usually relatively easy to build a wing with sufficient bending stiffness into a wing - it's torsional rigidity that is more difficult to achieve, and that will become more dominant in forward flight once the aerofoil starts doing it's job. I suspect the large moving sections of the wing, plus the fans robbing a lot of usable surface area from the 'wing box' has given the designers a lot of headaches and led to a really compromised design structurally.
Reminds me of the Icon A5. Will it have the same fate?
Seems wrong to criticise EV designs based on battery shortcomings. The same efficiency gains that eg Nissan e-Power takes advantage of probably aren't available to planes (are they?) but are there plans to fly this with a genset?
BD-5, Vari-Eze genes in that one.
To pre transition did they give it hormone blockers?
Well after seeing some of the funnier comments I'm afraid of saying something constructive but here goes. I can see the wings are to heavy or not stiff enough holding all of those fans.
What electrical cord?
I would have preferred to have listened to the sound it produced
I've heard of "Fly By Wire" but never by "Chain"! 😆😅😁
Very cool. First time seeing this. Cavorite? Like Favorite? Or like Cavort? Or like Cav Or Ite? Cool concept. Bad name. Maybe call it the Wasp. It looks like a wasp.
Oddly beautiful I do wonder the price tag and stats 👍👏
It will be priced similar to a helicopter of similar personnel carriage capacity (7 people). We anticipate it will have a maximum speed of 250 mph and be able to travel 500 miles with fuel reserves at medium loads.
Look an Icon with a bunch of fans and a V-tail
More of the electric pipe dream. My this go the ways of the electric car.
Pre-Transition? Do you mean it still has it's weener?
Oh Shit! LOL! your killing me that's good one. 🤣😂🤣
More elaborate Toys with plastic music.
We are really gaing on world peace plans here.
The wings may need support rods.
Is not 1917 😑
Must be some horrible drag over the wing surface at higher forward speeds.
This is an AMAZING toy aircraft - but is it the future of aviation? Without an incredibly lightweight power source that can rival hydrocarbons ... I don't think so.
It’s not real aircraft, ok. It’s just not peer reviewed Disney lore accurate aircraft, ok. You should quit having fun with that because, because it doesn’t have a power source, ok?
@@bogdanivchenko3723 Nah, it's not "Ok" It's "Mkay" 🙊
Excellent comment. Our full-scale prototype aircraft will by hybrid-electric, so an extremely efficient internal combustion engine leveraging traditional fuel (that still has 30X the energy density of even the best batteries!)
Brilliant but, will it ever do anything usefull? Maybe Uber Eats can use it for deliveries. Good luck anyway guys.
Show
Floppy wings and no forward flight equals test of fans with no payload etc what is proven? Complexity and failure modes are huge...
I bet, the army will come soon….
Too bad…
Cool video. Too bad they felt they had to include such annoying music.
No pilot?
has a battery, but can't carry anything else...
What a breakthrough in battery consumption, with a total of 5 full minutes of total flight time and cost a mere 3 million dollars to build, put in your order today and get ready for the worst investment of your life
Wow .dam that thing is wasted time money 👎👎👎👎👎👎
Complete crap. Nothing more than a tax write off for investors. He’s the problem to upscale, power requirements are exponential…requiring more weight, bigger fans and more power. And for giggles think downstream, what is the endurance? How much weight can it carry.
Another stupid design...
How much is this going to cost???
