how rough does it get out there? I just rounded the cape may point (out of the ferry inlet and rounded to N Wildwood) and it was so rough it took about an hour, really couldnt go above 25 or so. I want to do the bay crossing this summer from NJ to DE
The day I went was pretty smooth. You really have to pay close attention to the weather, not only around the bay but miles out as it will affect the sea conditions. The day I went, it was warm and humid with no storms on the eastern seaboard. Warmth and humidity always seem to make for smooth water. Also, watch out for the Cape May rip at tide change - it’s so bad that if your ski hits the waves wrong, you’ll go under and drink a lot of water. If you go by the point, be sure to be a mile out from the shore to go around.
Hi Sean! It took us about 35 minutes to cross from DE to NJ... The rip picked up (tide was coming in) when we returned from NJ to DE so we were slowed quite a bit, about 45-50 mins. We're always looking for more to join the ride - facebook.com/groups/DEWaveRunner
What is the normal trip duration?
If the water is relatively smooth, you can make it in 20-25 mins

I did it three years ago and got my ass handed to me by the Delaware Bay, not to mention almost getting run down by the ferries. Good time though!
Looking to make this happen a few times this summer. Count me in on the ride!
@@atlanticmediaproductions9233 I would join the crowd by boat if you're interested.
