What up Fable Squad! Nightwish - The Islander REACTION Fable Instagram: @fablefil INSTAGRAM LINK : / b-cavkyhply #Nightwish #TheIslander #FableReactions
Fable, I must apologise to you on behalf of the genuine Nightwish Army, who are only too pleased that someone new is listening to the band's music. There are some small-minded individuals in the world, but they do not represent the vast majority of us. Charles Dickens wrote a book called 'A Christmas Carol' and in it there is a ghost who forever drags behind him "the chains that he forged in life". This video to me, has echoes of this classic line. The live version from Tampere in 2015 has Marco the bassist singing this out front to the whole 25000 plus audience. Carry on my friend undeterred. Kevin from England
I watched your last reaction on music. I thought you nailed it. Excellent interpretation. I thought to myself this guy gets it . They are an awesome intelligent band. The keyboard guy writes and composes all the songs, he's also a poet. The stuff he comes up with just blows my mind. The guy is a genius.
Every time I wonder how someone who doesn't like someone else's reaction even has energy to write a comment. When I dislike someone or something I just move along quietly. But to Nightwish's music: it's best experienced live. The Islander at Tampere is quite funny because Marko (that viking looking dude) starts the song alone with his guitar-base combo. Of course most fans try to direct people to listen to the current band members instead of past members, such as Anette Olzon who was the lead vocalist between Tarja Turunen and Floor Jansen (Tarja being the first vocalist and Floor the current one). Maybe you should compare this to the live version in Tampere 2015 with Floor... ;) The Nightwish Army usually suggests songs from concerts in Wacken 2013, Tampere 2015, Wembley 2015 (or sometimes it's titled as 2016) and Buenos Aires 2018. My top 3 of Wacken's setlist are just barely "Storytime", "Ever Dream" and "Ghost Love Score". If the video is published by Nuclear Blast Records it has lyrics in the cc/subtitles. Have fun dude!
I started with Tarja, when she left I kind of bailed on the band for other stuff in life, then hearing a Dutch woman I was already familiar with was going to front them, I decided to give them another listen, and I love it. But it does bother me that Anette doesn't get her due credit most of the times. There's a reason she was picked and they wrote some amazing music for her to perform. And it was what Tuomas was looking for at the time. I'm sure people can argue days or weeks on end who is the best singer but that's pointless. All for people making lists on which they enjoy more though. For me it's just barely Floor in 1st, a hair distance there's Tarja and not even that far from them in 3rd I've got Anette. But it's not fair to her, she's the only pop singer Nightwish have had. In any other band she's shine like a diamond, in NW she's compared to 2 Godesses and a queen is relatively small in comparison.
Love that you chose the music video - I've always loved the way Marco's and Anette's voices sounds together. I think you got the message, but then who can really know for sure?
you're not an idiot for interpreting it how you do it. Music is there to let you make your own picture of the said. and honestly you sometimes even bring up ways to interpret that i didnt think of. so its great how you do it. Also i really love your attitude.
I actually like the way you interpret the songs and that you see the meaning behind it. Can't wait for more Nightwish reactions. Btw... the keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen writes most of the music... lyrics too... so he is the ultimate storyteller and a true genius.
While I prefer the live version at Tampere, it's nice to see the original video too. Anette deserves some love too :) To be honest, I was always just swaying to the music, enjoying Markos voice, never looked into the lyrics, but I can see your interpretation.
Nightwish has an incredible mix of insanely talented musicians, haunting vocals, deep lyrics and one of the best composers the modern world has seen. It's always wonderful to see another enjoying their magic. On another note, would you react to Hush by Mudvayne? It's a good song with a heavy message and one that doesn't get heard much.
I love their live videos as much as the next gal, but I love that someone reacted to this music video because it is indeed very gorgeous and creative. So thank you for that!
If at all possible always watch Nightwish's live performances. They are one of those rare performers that sound better live. Try to find performances from the Wacken 2013, Wembley 2015, Tampere 2015 & finally Buenos Aires 2019 shows in that order.
My gosh!! It's awesome how you get and explain the meaning of the songs not only by the lyrics but also by the cinematics. I love Nightwish from the very first song I've heart from them, like 17 years ago, and I've struggled to understand this particular song. Thanks for your understanding of it!! You got a new subscriber!!
Sorry guys, army is already here, I slept over! Anyways, by now Fable probably has a lot of requests... or maybe more of suggestions than requests. Hope you are well and enjoy the ride, there's plenty of songs for you to have if you stay alert and let them guide you. My advice is simple, just tell us what you like and we like to deliver. Free of charge, by the passion of the "game". :D.
I agree this song is made as a perfect story, you can follow, and be captured by, there is really no other Nightwish song like the Islander, so its unique to me, and yes highly ranked on my NW playlist as well.. this is also the only Nightwish song my nephew likes..
My personal suggestion for the next songs in order to give you a nice overview of some "styles" covered by Nightwish: -> Ghost Love Score (Wacken 2013): THE "traditional first song" to get into Nightwish. Floor is showing diferent capabilities and you can get a first understanding of Tuomas capability of songwriting -> "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" (Buenos Aires) will give you a metal and power blast -> There are a couple of great songs from Wacken: Storytime, Song of Myself, Romanticide, Last Ride of the Day, Ghostriver -> "Yours an Empty Hope" from Wembley (have a good look at the growls) -> "The greatest Show on Earth" (Tampere) and "The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley - get to know the background of this song ahead) -> Then the new stuff with "Noise" (Video), „Shoemaker“, "Harvest (Lyric Video) ... Just my personal thoughts :-) After two videos you might get into the live performances of Nightwish as they are for sure one of the best live bands in the world. One thing you can definitely be sure of: Every song is different, has some surprising transitions, is intense. And none of the songs you're going to discover will disappoint you. PS: Lord of the Rings? Pirates of the Caribbean? The intro of Ghost Love Score will teleport you directly into the scenery. Greetings from Hannover in Germany
Nightwish is definitely best appreciated through their live performances, but its also kind of fun to go back and hear the original versions for comparison. Still, the Tampere 2015 live performance is my favourite version of this song.
In the first seconds with the flying ships and the rotating thing with many wings, I get kind of a "Myst" feeling there, you know the old MacIntosh computer game from back in the 1990's. Am I totally out of the ballpark here? Uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes) at the very end, and a bodhrán. Probably Troy Donockley who plays them both. Like your reactions, subscribed. Cheers / B.
I love this beautiful video. Written & directed by the same guy (Stobe Harju) who wrote & directed the "Noise" video as well as the Nightwish movie, "Imaginaerum". While I agree that live performances of the band show the band at their best, I wouldn't ever want to consign some of these AWESOME Nightwish videos to the rubbish bin. THAT I just don't get. Just make sure to catch the live performances too. P.S. I think you did great in the "Noise" video.
Hi from the UK nightwish have had three singers 1 tarja turunen (the siren) check out nightwish the phantom of the opera 2 anette Olsen (the pixie) check out nightwish bye bye beautiful official music video don't get fooled it is nightwish 3 floor Jansen (the valkyrie) currently singing with nightwish and as a guest with other bands as well as having had her own bands Check out Nightwish ghost love score wacken open air concert 2013 Nightwish song of myself wacken open air concert 2013 Nightwish story time wacken open air concert 2013 Nightwish is a very deep rabbit hole to explore as most of the band have their own things going on as well so you have a lot to check out lol
I like your take on the music. Even if its not the same as mine, i get new meanings that i miss or didn't think about. Nightwish seems to carry some toxic fans, and I hate that reactors are attacked by them. Keep it up, and thanks.
This singer is their 2nd singer Anette, they work with Floor now. Try watch this number live in Tampare. You really need to react to some of their live performances. I would suggest anything from Wacken 2013 they are truly amazing live. Also see "Yours is an Empty Hope", Floor the female singer growls.
It`s almost 2years from you did this, but you should also react to that Islander perfomed Live in Tampere. And when You sayd You liked storytelling, in that case one is must for you, their live consert in Wembley 2015, and only one "song" from there, The Greatist Show On Earth (with Richard Dawkins).
When you are doing Nightwish, PLEASE only review their live shows. They are head and shoulders better than the studio versions. For this song, try the live show at Tampere in Finland. That will really tell you what they are all about.
IMO you did a great deduction job with Noise!) Nightwish should be experienced live, so every time first search for a live version, and if there is none, than go for a music video. So, to rehabilitate yourself, you should do the Ghost Love Score Live @ Wacken 2013! ;)
wow haven't watched this version in such a long time. I love the Live at Tampere version too much. It's nice to see it again actually :D Emppu was like you took someone my height and removed her from the band and replaced her with a 6'1" amazon!!
Haters would be the ones with notes to do their ‘reactions’ out of fear of being wrong, ironically. First listen reactions are tough. Keep up the fire, Fil.
Boet. Ignore the detractors and just delete them. I enjoy your passion in these first two Nightwish reviews. Now get blown away with their live performances. Im sure there are plenty of suggestions including Ghost Love Score from Wacken. Great performance as is EVERY SONG AT THAT CONCERT. I have to confess I have been equally enthralled with their Decades perforrat Buenos Aires. Anyway just enjoy. You wont be disappointed. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Oooooooh man nice reaction but you deprive yourself of an awesome live version that exists of this song. Live in Tampere 2015. Much more feeling in that one and the harmonies with Floor are also different from Anette. I understand that for many reactors this is not the route to go to... as for many bands the studio versions are better, however Nightwish are real musicians... they are *ALWAYS* better live 🤘
My Friend Fil, I apologize for the people that have been rude to you they do not understand that you are just now experiencing Nightwish.... maybe they can take a step back and let you experience them first hand!!! That would be wonderful, would it not? ✌❤ Tami
Great reaction, the only critique i got is that you do better if you react to Nightwish live if they got a live version of whatever song you gonna react to since the band usually is way better live then in studio versions :)
They released music videos only to promote their new albums, so you'll find only a handful of them. The main Nightwish recorded videos are made live, in concerts, you'll find >100 on YT. I feel you want to stay away of the "metal" side of this band - should be hard to do, considering their genre is symphonic metal.. Please try "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) for a joyful ride ruclips.net/video/B1UjgozeIPQ/видео.html then "Sleeping Sun"live at Tampere 2015 (ballad) to dream ruclips.net/video/rsotlzr9wNw/видео.html
Very good review - just consign the petty whiners to the garbage can. You might appreciate the "Islander" performed live ruclips.net/video/Zo8ncK_5kzc/видео.html No need to react to it, just something for your own enjoyment.

It’s not a problem ❤️❤️ I always appreciate you guys... you make this channel tick, there will always be a handful of people who try be negative ☺️🙏

Nightwish music videos are awesome too

Ghost Love score by Nightwish official live and Romanticide by Nightwish official live. They are live at Wacken 2013.

That’s true but this song specifically was a Marko creation to start.
While I prefer the live version at Tampere, it's nice to see the original video too. Anette deserves some love too :)
To be honest, I was always just swaying to the music, enjoying Markos voice, never looked into the lyrics, but I can see your interpretation.

Will absolutely do so ☺️❤️
I'm amazed of how quickly you get the meaning of their songs 💗 even if its not 100% accurate, there's the essence of it and love your energy 😊

In Finland, Nightwish does not sit around a bonfire, bonfires sits around Nightwish
