"who is most well known for his Nobel prize winning novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude." Nobel Prizes for Literature aren't given to authors for individual books. The author has to have a great career to win one.

Well he definitely had the career to deserve it. Probably the most important writer in Latin American literature with a lot of other classics aside from 100 years. Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Of Love and Other Demons, Love in the Times of Cholera, Autumn of the Patriarch just to name a few.

¡Gabriel García Márquez fue un talentoso escritor! Me pregunto yo mismo , ¿que inspiraba Márquez en escribir el libro cien años de soledad?

I have searched for the last 12 or so years after reading a number of hos books, I still cannot find this quote. It might be due to variations in the English translations of his books.
