I am a huge fan of camper and caravans and I have both of them. Just something about a camper in Lego form extremely fascinates me, it's like a little home on wheels, literally and it works so well as Lego product so I was extremely hyped when they announced it and it was an instant buy for me. Not one second would I have thought "I already have one that looks almost the same, why would I get another one?" This is exactly what I want to be honest. I want different versions of them, I would love a whole collection, if Lego would have like 6 of them, all just barely different models I would still get them for a campground. Thanks for the video. :)
Need a few options to open a dealership in your brick city. Plus tiny homes have become popular in recent years beyond just the traditional RV or trailer.
Agree with everything you wrote! They could make a 6-pack of these and I'd get them! Or even just offer different sets of stickers. I live close to a campground and am a huge #vanlife fan, so these homes on wheels are a definite soft spot for me. Some people army build with Star Wars stormtroopers and such...for me, my "army" is RVs. :)
Yeah me too, started buying a few sets late 2019 and now I'm addicted again. Especially love the city line and yeah getting remakes like this is great as like you I don't have the old one. I really hope they do more, I want an octan tanker and a so many more.
@@mistermastermind528 Prices can get high for really rare or populat sets, but generally it doesnt get too bad for niche stuff or common stuff. It’s made for ages 5+, so it’s great for younger fans who weren’t alive when the other came out, and it’s great for older fans who want to continue the Minifig “story” or missed out on the last one!
It's fine there's a "redo", not everyone who loves Lego has collected every set since the beginning of time. New Lego fans pop in all the time, and this allows people to start collections without having to spend enormous amounts of money finding older sets.
I was huge in to Lego as a kid and loved the city theme the most. In 2014 I wasn't in to it anymore. Now I'm 35 and just bought this set :D. I used my son as an excuse even though he's still 1,5 years old XD. Can't wait for him to be old enough so we can do this together :D.
I wouldn't call it lazy really. It's great to see continuity in terms of the figures but also the set as a whole is good. If it's not broke then no need to fix it. That's the way I see it anyway.
I mean a new build every 5ish years is nice. Honestly I'd also like if they released some of their old city sets. Them making new subthemes and eras for the subthemes is nice, but I also miss the older sets and it sucks knowing if you want them you'll be paying double the MSRP minimum for them nowadays
Always important to consider how relatively long time has passed since the older RV came out. Calling this lazy sounds like saying "well you should've gotten it 7 years ago!", which is silly.
I love both of these sets. When I got my 2014 version, I immediately replaced the blank back panel with a nice window. So happy to see this new one has a back window! Hugs to the designer and to Jang for yet another great video and review!❤️
Thank you Jang for taking the time to breakdown all the reasons this is similar to the old one. I love the campers for the record and will by all of them lol.
I liked it actually and didn't feel cheated on considering the price. Edit: AND I'm glad that I can actually buy this right now, new, in store. That's my way of seeing this.
I love the new style of Jang’s videos. Seeing himself within the reviews and extra thoughts definitely brings out an engaging personality and not a faceless reviewer!
I used his minifigure avatar as the face back when he's a faceless reviewer. Him using it as his profile/channel pic then certainly helps that. And now he got a long lost twin, whose a brunet, how does that work? 😁
I've enjoyed many years of camper vans, caravans and camping vehicles from LEGO. The 2014 is a time-tested design, but the new one is not only proof of that but has the option of changing things up internally. I'd be happy putting both in a campground without issue.
I think this set is one the market for the same reason that police and fire sets come out every year: kids are interested in it and it sells well. However, I agree that changing the design slightly more would have been nice.
It's this kind of simple and quaint lego that makes me want to buy everything and build a giant city full of it. (Then I remember I live in a shoebox apartment in a massive city and owning a house which could house a lego city is basically impossible and I want to cry a bit lol oh well time to figure out where the next set I buy is gonna go)
For me it started with the caravan trailer combo, followed by the motorhome, then the fifth wheel camper trailer. This set follows suit and is a good addition while still keeping a good price and selection of parts.
I really love lego sets being brought back when they are good. That is my point of view. Especially for the fact of the huge number of new lego sets that Lego launches every year.
Thanks for the review. Option 3: It's a 5+ set, so for a 5 year old this is the only camper that ever existed. There have been multiple campers and it's just part of the LEGO world like ambulances and police cars. Have and love both models.
I just purchased this set for my son for Christmas at $15 bucks. This set actually works good if you has random bricks you want to use for an apartment/house and you need starter accessories for things like chairs, windows, kitchen gear, etc. It even comes with many extra parts like 2 extra donuts, 1 extra egg and 1 extra bottle top (just get a 1x1 cylinder to attach it to).
I would have liked a bit more detail and space-efficient features inside the campervan like a table that turns into a bed or something, and maybe some more storage spaces. Other than that, I'm a fan of small, self-contained sets that you can just as easily slot into a Lego city as function as a toy on its own.
The way I see it, there's only so many ways to configure an RV, let alone a lego version. Also someone who's only started collecting in the last year, its a great way to get an RV brand new in store
What's great is now this will make city traffic look more realistic, more different "brands" and models on the road, these two combined with the creator carivan set makes for a cool convoy tbh
I do wish they had a bit more suggestion between the bottom and the bed up top. The current design kind of looks like a coffin. I think overall I just barely like the 2014 version more.
The empty space feels a waste. It would just be a plate on top instead of the brick, letting you get up into the bed area. So many campers have a tight fit for the upper bed.
I missed the 2014 version of this camper. The 2021 version is a nice set but after seeing the comparison I do prefer the layout of the 2014 model. The sleeping space on the new one would feel like a coffin. I think it works much better as storage. If I get the 2021 one, I'll be looking to modify it into the 2014 layout. I also like the inclusion of the canoe.
People are never satisfied. If it were the same as the old they would complain about that. For me, I like the subtle differences between the two because they look like different makes/models and so you can set up a nice campground scene without it looking like everyone bought the same vehicle
Instantly liked this as soon as I saw it on the shelf and I bought it on sale too for $13 already gave it to my sister since i knew she would like it too
I thought about this a while back but can confirm now... this set is the best set for the price to turn into a cafe. It supplies you with a coffee machine, two mugs, about 4 donuts, glass bottle with can soda top and spare can soda top (to put on another single cylinder). The extra can top goes well on a brown cylinder and so the does the clear 1x1 circle smooth tile to act as a top for more brown cylinder 1x1 circular bricks to make mocha bottled drinks. Two blue chairs and plenty of windows. You may just need to provide free bricks to create the structure or just use the base gray plate to make one of those semi exposed coffee stands. I forgot! You get a frying pan and two eggs circle tile studs. You literally have everything you need.
I didn't see this posted by anyone else, but in the Lego-verse, the father in this set was arguably the grown-up boy from 60182 Pickup & Caravan and the baby in 60134 Fun in the Park.
I paid $40 for the 2014 version (after it was out of production for a few years) and don't feel ripped off lol. Would like this one too; can't get enough camping stuff. Maybe if I have the time, money, and space can set up a camping area and having a variety of RVs would be really nice for that.
I think the interior of the older one looks better than the new one and makes more sense (aside from the TV), and the front end of the new one looks better than the older one.

And existence of either does not negate the other, both can be put on the same camping area of one's huge Lego city and will still look good together.

I must say, Jang, you really gave me some perspective in this video. While City isn't exactly one of the themes I collect, it can be easy to say that the Lego designers are being lazy. It may be true that sometimes the designers slip up, or they make decisions that a lot of people are unhappy with, they do put a lot of effort into making quality products. I'm not saying that it's not right to criticize Lego, but I guess with anything that a person is passionate about, they high expectations about said thing, and are highly disappointed when said expectations are not met. Perhaps one of the greatest things about Lego is they have a wide variety of products from a wide variety of themes and a wide variety of price points, which really allows many different people to come together and find enjoyment in these plastic bricks.
I actually really enjoyed this set. I bought the new one because I enjoy the smooth look from the outside, but I hated the interior. Do you have the car and camper trailer? Another good 1
Agreed. It just feels cozy.
You should get creator 3 in 1 camper caravan its huge and really cool

The 2012 camper is one of my most Nostalgic sets. Every year I go camping with my grandma and grandpa, which makes me love this set

LEGO should have more polls on what old City sets to revamp for the new age. So many could be upgraded with all of the new parts we have now.

That set is more simple and generic then the 2014 version, yet it’s priced the same for the smaller amount of plastic. I love the 2014 version more
I love the fact that the story of the family continues!
Maybe after having a baby he sold off the canoe but still wanted to go camping, so he modded the RV a bit.
I think this set is one the market for the same reason that police and fire sets come out every year: kids are interested in it and it sells well. However, I agree that changing the design slightly more would have been nice.
It felt closer to building the icecream truck (60253). At least you get a baby minifig cheap
Woahh
I think the interior really shows the differences. The exterior is a bit different, but inside, It's very different.
Honestly this just made me wanna buy the old one, I like its configuration way better, plus the extra storage space, plus a free canoe!

A Murphy bed should be easy for LEGO to have in a set. There are so many tiny home mechanisms that could easily work.

I had the 2009 one. It was grand.

Love it they look awesome
I still have the one from like 2009/2010, the one that came with a bike and surfboard. I didn't even realize they made a 2014 one.
I take this set as proof that Lego cares. I missed getting the 2014 set and I'm glad I can finally get it with a baby as bonus.🤗
Since the story suggests this is the same character I wouldn’t be surprised if the models supposed to be the exact same but he decided to modify it
Just got this.
Wanted to see if it was worth it.
I’ve been thinking of getting this for awhile but if I do get it I might take all of the chairs and the table out and make my own stuff inside
Lego also made a camper similar to this in 2009. Set no. 7639. I think the 3 of them would look nice together in a small campground moc
I really like this, it looks like an old toy I used to have.
I had the OG one back in 2010. Loved it and used it in my old zombie Mocs but this ones build is almost exactly the same
It reminds me of the toy story 4 camper van Lego set
This is also a good option for parts to be used for a room in a home (chairs, windows, cooking stuff and cups).

Thanks Jang.
I have to say, the new one is good, because not everyone can get the older one, and it is great to get newer versions of sets
I think the very OG camper set was the best the one that came out in 2010 I believe. It came with a bike 🚲
Congratulations on meeting your twin, Jang! Make sure you teach him how to brush his hair! :D
It's almost a companion piece to the Ice Cream Truck!
I prefer the old one tbh + you get a canoe. I prefered the bumper and the space organisation with the 2 storage compartment. The only thing I really like more on the new one is that there's a back window and a thingy for the trailer.
I like the interior of previous one much much more.
I think it's nice to remake it, the new one is an improvement and I missed the first one
Im gonna buy that second van when i go to the mall again
