i think corporate spiritually fasting is almost universally ignored by churches in america. i concede that stout/obese pastors may be filled with the Holy Spirit and obeying the Gospel and making disciples, but am still a little suspicious. fasting is should be as common as praying and tithing.
I saw an long multi-part article promoting this book. When discussing the Great Commission it mentioned the action words quite well but FORGOT exactly what is to be taught: "[how] to obey everything [He] has commanded." This is what churches decline. They HATE Jesus's 3-year incarnate ministry. The prefer reading Pauline theology to actively and humbly following Jesus in practical ways.
Its simple. All of the religions are in competition with the internet, RUclips, and Facebook. Young people are on social media. Young people are not buying into religion because they don't believe it any longer. There's nothing that can be done.
