I've been waiting for this one, im glad it didn't get stuck and it made it threw the mud... it was a easy course but more than what most drivers would get them selves into....
I seriously doubt anyone expects to take this thing off road, it is mostly useful in snow conditions, something for Toyota to take on Subaru, only without the head going out after a few years.
this is probably the easiest off road condition to test on as the ground is damped and compressed. Especially for non traditional awd aswell as even fwd cars
the Lexus NX300h i-AWD offers the same drivetrain for about $16,000.00 dollars more! Certainly, the interior will be much better with the Lexus. I purchased one of these. I love it!
First thank you for another review, an expanded review in slippery conditions, snow or ice as well as parking and tight city driving impressions would be nice.
hybrid has 7 inches of ground clearance not that it matters though just pointing that out there the le and xle non-hybrids have 6.3 inches cause of the exhaust and the se has 6.5 for some weird reason.
Dave, fyi the Toyota RAV4 brochure says the hybrid models have 7 inches of ground clearance. In fact, I think all the AWD RAV4 models have that. The two-wheel-drive models have 6.1 inches, according to a brochure I saw.
Most hybrids aren't made to tackle off-roads, because electric motors then needs to have separate low-gear which will have added weights a lot. We have construction and mining equipment heavy machines that are electric motor driven, and they are not for speed.
I had one of those, same trim as yours, at 26kmi it started to develop a coolant leak, so I got rid of the tiguan and got a rav4 awd, maybe not as good off road but bigger and far more reliable
Dave I am a fan of the older RAVS-I own a 2010 V6 model 4WD with DIFFlock. From what I have read the new generation RAVS are more car like. Is this true?
I would not call that off road at ALL, any 2 wheel drive front or rear wheel drive could do that track easily . my first car was a 428 1969 mach one . im sure it could have done your course after i had had 15 beers and 2 joints with no problems .
Binder Dundat i want to see the car's limits and not some stupid cruize on a "dirt" road where one-wheel drive would be sufficient. did that answer your "huh"?
Yes. I have the 2016 camry hybrid. Can confirm that in practice too. I work in ltr/100kms and I get 6 -7 lper 100kms highway. 4 - 6 ltr per 100kms city.
REALLY???? love toyota but really ?? how much are you getting paid to hype this?? rav4 is awsome where its suposed to be but what you did isnt even close to off road, you should be ashamed for how your tying to hype this...really..go away.
Darren Sculuca i agree with the bro... i HAVE the 16 rav4 hybrid and i can easily pass that course!!!! it cannot go FULLY off road! rav4 is a semi off road vehicle not a full off road vehicle as much as i hate to admit it! as a side note: i get 39mpg combined and 49hwy in DTLA
You need to take another look James. Actually the interior of the 2016s are very nice and this Rav4 is no exception! The new Highlander is awesome with a great interior.........nice features like storage areas in the dash, etc
I remember watching this in 2016 shortly after buying the car. It has 4 modes, not 3. A picky point. Three buttons, four driving modes.

Dave, You are not going to bring the car into ORV park for off road testing anymore?
I don't see any obstacles on this video

The best car in its class or heck on earth!!

That's what I read as well.
Nice review.........sensible and not over the top like some others. Great job!
I love the brown interior/blue exterior combo!

I would chose this vehicle vs the Hyundai Santa Fe - less price and a hybrid. Additionally has a better trade in value.
this car was on my short list. but got the 2016 VW Tiguan SE 4motion instead.
nice choice, more elegant powerful and can go off road.
I had one of those, same trim as yours, at 26kmi it started to develop a coolant leak, so I got rid of the tiguan and got a rav4 awd, maybe not as good off road but bigger and far more reliable
This doesn't really seem like real off road conditions. This may of been fun no doubt, but I would of really liked to see it in more real conditions.
Shoppingcart sensors are now standard on all jeep models
Dave I am a fan of the older RAVS-I own a 2010 V6 model 4WD with DIFFlock. From what I have read the new generation RAVS are more car like. Is this true?
It's a center difflock
my kia optima is sharp and has a great intieror and driver friendly.
Hi David,
It seems you are not doing off-road videos at the RV park anymore... Is that right?
MK S I’m still doing them.
MK S I’m still doing them.
What kind of car do u have?
question not about the car, how did you manage the aerial shot in the intro ? :)
you took the rogue on a better course. why don't you do the same for this vehicle?
You should take the Mini Countryman ALL4 off road
You can always tell when somebody buys a drone....
it is called a parking sensor... and this track you could do with any FWD car well, nothing special
A prius could do something like that, this is not off road, not even close
The street that I drive through everyday is a rough terrain than this off road!!! Be realistic pleeeeeease

I do 50-50 highway city.Do you still recommend the hybrid
Yep,
awsome ride
awsome vid
Ground clearance for Hybrids is 7 inches.
Alex on autos quotes it at 7" and he is really through in his reviews.
Watch some other videos, this thing can't even get up a muddy hill. Or through snow. I almost bought it too!
Andrea Lee You're delusional. Check out Moodus and Vincent's channel with these. It does just fine in heavy snow.
Lol what s the challenge here? Any car, even a K car can go thru that off road testing parcours. Lol
Wow you're guys were pushed there
I know, right?!
i want to see what it cant do not what it does easily..
huh?
Binder Dundat i want to see the car's limits and not some stupid cruize on a "dirt" road where one-wheel drive would be sufficient. did that answer your "huh"?
One-wheel drive? You have a unicycle?
shotput8 xD
GET THE ACURA PLEASE!!!!
highway mpg is less than city?
Yes. I have the 2016 camry hybrid. Can confirm that in practice too. I work in ltr/100kms and I get 6 -7 lper 100kms highway. 4 - 6 ltr per 100kms city.
Typical for a hybrid because the electric motor is engaged more in the city than the highway
👍
The course was too easy.
C

You're funny. Thanks for the laugh.
your welcome.

Darren Sculuca thank you and no I'm not getting paid. Thanks for taking the time to visit my channel and for sharing your thoughts, take care.
only thing about toyotas they r so plane no pizzazz or nice interior. my 2014 toyota highlander was so Plaine and boring.
You need to take another look James. Actually the interior of the 2016s are very nice and this Rav4 is no exception! The new Highlander is awesome with a great interior.........nice features like storage areas in the dash, etc
