Boston’s Weird Underground Bus : Riding the Silver Line

- The Silver Line of the MBTA is very unique in that upon entering the station and going through the turnstile, there is level which is served underground, but by buses. The Silver Line “Bus Rapid Transit” (“BRT”) is a trolley bus on rubber wheels that runs on electric power, and has a dedicated bus-way from the Boston South Station to Silver Line Way.

One great thing about the silver line is it's free to take it from Logan Airport into Boston. That's an alternative to having to buy a ticket to take the T from the airport
The silver line drops you at South Station and it includes a free transfer to the red line train

Great way for the bus to avoid traffic.
In early 2023, the Dual Modes will be replaced with Hybrid (XDE60s) buses with an extended range battery. There is also a shortage of buses for the SL1/SL2/SL3. A couple of regular XDE40s from the Charlestown bus garage are temporarily running the SL1/2/3 until the new buses arrive

Turns out that the Silver Line is not even a subway. It's only an underground busway with 5 routes.
Did he ever return no he never returned and his fate is still unlearned. He may ride forever neath the streets of Boston he is the man who never returned. Poor old Charlie.
