I love my Chromecast device because it is cool that I like it way better than a fire stick and I have a Xumo box from spectrum service that I bought it out right. And it's mine to keep.
Did you purchase the Pro version from the USA because the last time I checked, only the ONN non-pro was available to purchase from a Canadian online retailer.
@UpgradeGuyTech okay that'd be great because I've looked at it and it seems like the only way you can get an app off your home screen is if you uninstall it which doesn't make sense... You should just be able to remove the app from the home screen without uninstalling it but yeah that'd be great if you can figure that out
@ Canada. Apparently new setups are bricked if its outside the US. Updates for existing working devices are not affected. Will wait for a patch before buying it again here in Canada.
I just bought the onn as a direct result of your recommendation, I live in Costa Rica and hope this doesn't happen. I've got a VPN in hopes to avoid it.
yes VPN should by pass it. Also I love Costa rice, spent a few weeks there last year. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been with the friendliest locals
@UpgradeGuyTech thank's for your response, I'm a dual citizen and I've been living here permanently 16 years, I agree with you, I 1st came 38 years ago and fell in love with the lifestyle here, best decision of my life.✌️
I found when I set one up with the google app it happened I had to factory reboot and use my computer to broadcast vpn enabled wifi For the boxes that I didn’t use the google app to set up this didn’t happen
@@UpgradeGuyTech when I set up I just use USA for the region and language and have not had any problems setting up 5 others it was just the one I did via the google home app
my thought is USA And Canada it works outside countries like UK and others that don't have walmart is when it wont work
multiple reports it doesnt work in canada
@@UpgradeGuyTech unless the new ones wont but the first batch of them will still work. technology is always a mystery.

true I agree
I have 2, but haven't opened them. i got one for my neighbour here in Kelowna and he at the moment doesn't have a problem
as long as he doesnt reset it they should be good. easily solvable with a Phone and VPN hot spot
@UpgradeGuyTech I'm finally going to get it going this weekend . I'm finally going to dabble in IPTV. Do you have any recommendations
Did you purchase the Pro version from the USA because the last time I checked, only the ONN non-pro was available to purchase from a Canadian online retailer.
I got a pro from s Walmart
Walmart in Canada doesn’t sell ONN products. Walmart USA doesn’t ship to Canada.
@@macattack1481 I can ship to Canada for the right price. I'm not shipping less than 20 units
Yes Mine is from the US. It doesnt matter if you purchased it in canada, The guy selling them just imports them from the US
in the US
When i do open it and plug it in, should i DO AN UPDATE ?
yes you can update it, should not cause an issue
If there was indeed a problem, and someone out of the country used a US VPN would that
**help
yes there is a work around with a VPN. I have yet to confirm this error although i have no idea to believe this doesn't
Can you tell me how to remove apps from your home screen like third party apps how to remove them from your home screen without uninstalling them??
I will look when im in front of my device

It didn't happen to you because Canada is one of the regions you can choose at setup. You have to be in a region you can't choose at setup.
no that isn't true sir. It is anywhere outside the US. The regions of setup are default in the Google tv system.
Next time choose other at setup like I did and it lock the device.@@UpgradeGuyTech
mine still works and I live in Denmark
yes its on factory resets so if you had it before it will work
4k one still working?
It should still work either way just may need to use a VPN
@UpgradeGuyTech can confirm working without vpn
Just got an Onn 4k from Amazon, auto update out of the box and it’s bricked.
“Only supported in the US and Puerto Rico.
Going back to Amazon.
What country are you in
@ Canada. Apparently new setups are bricked if its outside the US. Updates for existing working devices are not affected.

I can never do wrong with a chocolate milk iced-capp, there, bud. eh?
ehhhhh I always just get milk bud

I'm in Manitoba. I will test this with my regular 4K box. If I brick it that won't be a big deal because I travel to the US a lot.
Grew up in Manitoba! Thanks for watching the channel
@UpgradeGuyTech hey bud. What province you in now.

Interesting I’ll be testing afain

Sounds like a business opportunity for someone.
how so?
VPN with American location on start up fixes it.
Yes I have heard if you hotspot your phone with a VPN on that fixes the issue,. I will do more tests once I can emulate the issue
Looking at your video, but i believe that's North America excluding Mexico
its not, Canada is also included as an excluded area. There has been multiple reports of Canadians having theirs blocked
Click bait? Maybe a better title would be... "WARNING... Will updating your Onn 4K Pro box brick it?"
I like my title
@@UpgradeGuyTech I guess we now know what matters most to you - click$ vs honesty with your subs 🤨
@ 🙏
@@UpgradeGuyTech And also with you🙏
can you please please do a VPN TEST...
sure! Which VPN should I test
Proton VPN
Wao señors y que vanos hacer tenemos wie mndarle coreo a Google! Y biscar firma digital, para hacer que esto se arregle! Por que esto no puede pasar !
No creo que eso ayude a mi amigo, gracias por ver el canal!
If ONN is locked outside the US, you can set up vpn in many routers and thereby trick the box into thinking it is in the US
that is correct, I was going to try that but mine still worked
there's a hard reset button too, champ
I did a hard reset, champ. How you do it doesn't matter
@UpgradeGuyTech then it wasn't bricked, champ. soft lock at most. cute title though. getting the views with that?
@@TecraTube you tellem champ
Change the country location like Mexico or Germany
Hmm I am going to test this more
@UpgradeGuyTech when you factory reset instead of a country near the us like Canada use a country outside of the us
Testing now
I hope Canada is okay, I was planning on asking my brother in law to bring one up for me for Xmas….please keep us updated!!!
You can still do a vpn by pass so it isn’t too big of a deal
Please, pretty please, do not put any music on your dialogue track. Any music playing while you are talking is very distracting. Thx.
hmmm i try to keep it very low, did you still find it too loud?
