Good job on the video Shane! I too was very surprised by the performance at the price point. I've been a long time Firestick owner, but this performs so much better than my 4K Max: picture quality, speed, not laggy and much much better curation of videos and media to watch! The only problem I've noted so far is that if you use Bluetooth Headphones, the audio over then is choppy and distorted while connected. I did some troubleshooting, and determined the issue is with the included remote. I took the battery out of the remote, and used the remote in Google Home on my phone as a workaround, and when I do that, there is no problem with the audio. To rule out Bluetooth interference, I completely covered the remote in aluminum foil except for the front, and problem was still there. It seems to me that the remote continuously communicates over Bluetooth, which consumes the Bluetooth bandwidth. Seems like manufacturer (Google) can fix that by having the remote enter a sleep mode if no buttons are pressed for a period of time.

OK! I'm NOT shitting on the ONN box but for me with smart home integration and FULL device control for ALL my video/audio devices the Fire Cube 3rd gen is pretty awesome. Yes, it costs WAY more but also gives you SO much control and Routines that work with Alexa that ANY ONN of Google TV box/stick will NEVER ever match! The Fire Cube enhances lower stream quality channels and makes them look better for one. I have Routines setup to when I leave turns my TV and sound bar off and when I return home turns on my TV and soundbar on and will tune to a specific RUclips TV channel and lighting options so when I walk in the door everything is already ON and suits my needs. To me this convenience is SO much worth the extra price that these "sticks" just cannot do as fluid and seamless. I will NOT argue that this ONN box is good but it's just NOT the level I'm used to or want using the "Google" route which seems broken more times than not.
I have the previous gen. So I'm not sure if this is worth the upgrade. I know, extra gb of ram and more storage but does the 4k look that good? And I wish they had a legit way to multitask or switch between apps like and phones.
Nice reviews of both. I almost returned mine, but kept it when I learned how to sideload Tennis Channel. Love that it displays flash-drive videos and custom launchers too. Great device.

I'm facing a suttering issue on this device when it wakes up from the screensaver. Rebooting the decive fixes the issue. I hope they fix it with an update.
Might go back to Fire Stick, because having buttons for Play, Fast-Forward, and Rewind works better in apps like ESPN. I can't pair a good alternate remote with Onn 4K Pro.
I purchased one today and I also have the fire stick 4k max and I’ll tell you this, if the rumors are true that Amazon is going to release Vega and it’s going to get rid of sideloading, it’s gonna be the death of the fire stick. I will buy android boxes from now on.
I don't think so, unless you format it to 'device' storage (and 'FAT32' format?). That MIGHT make it unrecognizable for External media ... I'm not sure ... unless you use adb commands to 'partition' the USB storage. Also possibly could plug in a USB 'hub' (with or without an extra ethernet port) that would give you EXTRA USB 3.0 ports. Then could have one USB flash drive (FAT32?) for extra apps (device storage) AND a SECOND flash drive (or even portable HD) for 'media' content! I did see a video from a YT channel where the guy demonstrated (in real time) that the ONN 4K 'Pro' box actually is capable of reading 'exFAT' formatted drives! This would get you around the file-size limitations of 'FAT32' formatted drives (no good for larger high bit-rate movies). What I don't know ... is if the box will recognize two USBs in the different formats that are plugged into the same 'hub'?
I understand that you can somewhat get around this by buying a USB 3.0 Ethernet Hub ('uGreen' or other, '4-way' less than $20). Depending on the bandwidth you pay for, I think you could get at least 200-400 Mbps DOWNLOAD speed (maybe better?), as opposed to being limited to the 95-99 Mbps by plugging directly into the box's onboard ethernet port.
Onn has kind of been killing it with the affordable streaming devices and tablets I have the 12.1 tablet and if you are getting it just for some steaming and RUclips it’s killer
I was seriously considering one but then saw that the ethernet port only supports 10/100? For the most part that's going to be enough, but it just seems like a weird part to skimp on. It's one of the reasons why i like my apple TV 4k, although the apple interface is so basic. I'm looking forward to the google TV 4k box, but that processor in it worries me. I want to replace my apple tv 4k because it has so many issues with HDMI Arc detecting it on my OLED TV or soundbar.
I bought into the hype and got one. I am returning it today and going back to the firestick. My firestick controls the on/off of my av receiver where this onn box only controls the volume of my av receiver. I could deal with that but every two or three minutes the audio to the programs that I watch would cut out (only for a second). This onn box is not ready for production. I will say that the picture on my LG tv looked a little brighter than with my Firestick. When the Firestick goes to a closed system (unable to side load), I will look for other options or just bite the bullet for an Apple TV box.
In case this confuses anyone, this box is fully capable of controlling the volume of either the box itself or of the TV/whatever it's plugged into. It is also capable of turning off your TV with the power button. The audio thing is not something I've seen while using it for the last week. Could be a defective unit or it could be misbehaving with something with your setup. I have tested it with a receiver running into some large speakers and with a TV outputting over optical.

The 2TB also failed to even be recognized while connected to a powered dock. However, the Onn. does recognize a 256GB Sandisk thumb drive (exFAT). The wifi on mine keeps completely crashing! It has to be restarted or unplugged! There's 2 networks in the same room as the box! So the signals are completely strong, its like the whole wifi architecture of the device crashes. So im thinking my box is defective
No issues like that with mine. I'd try to swap it.
Make sure dfs is turned off on the router look that up. Mite be messing you up.
@scaryifliteral I'm just using it Ethernet, that's likely how I would've anyways.
@TheAlphamale215 the device after its been on for awhile doesn't even show my saved networks, or the 2 networks in my room, or even my neighbors networks, it acts like it overheats and shutdown the wifi radio, im just using it ethernet, and that works fine.
HELP! looking for advice. My usb mouse isn't working on this device. worked fine on my firestick. then I tried 2 others, one usb and one wired, none work. I managed to get a bluetooth mouse on but even that didn't follow thru with commands. Is there something in the settings I need to do? never came across an issue like this before.
Is usb debugging turned on?
@@danniethamer7936 absolutely.
@@danniethamer7936 yes. always
My old tv box had a mouse button, that was awesome for browsing
I have a third party remote that has a gyro mouse that works fine with this.
Looks good except that you will have to watch ads in You Tube and still have to buy most shows and programs that you really want. OK, we know this is what it really is about.
Correct, you will have to pay for content in some form or fashion as is true with any legal starting box 😐
Using 'Smarttube (Next)' app gets rid of the (out-of-control) YT ads.
And this box can download any Android-based 3rd-party apps ... just like FireOS devices. It is just as capable of being used responsibly.
@@scaryifliteral Not true. There are plenty of apps with tons of content, you can side load. There are many people on youtube, that can and will show you how to sideload really good apps.
Love it.
I am having issues with the box freezing when I watch Amazon prime TV. Has anyone else had this issue? Everything else works great.
Does this have airplay like the roku?
As this is a Google TV product, it has Chromecast support, not AirPlay.
Hands up if your Onn 4K Pro's remote has a "Free TV" blue botton 🙋🏽♂️😂
You said a SPEAKER when you using it as a MICROPHONE! Speakers and microphones are two different items.
I didn't say speaker, I said smart speaker. Smart speakers have microphones. That's what makes them smart speakers.
Doctor Who??? LMAO
Put a emulator on it
But I normally avoid Walmarts. :)
A good product is a good product lol. Hard to buy anything from a retailer that isn't problematic..
It's Walmart. There is no s at the end.
The fact it has a 10/100 Ethernet Port.. is a total deal breaker for me needs to have Gigabit Ethernet to be viable in todays tech.
What on earth are you doing on this box that needs more bandwidth than that?
Agreed, to play 4k local network videos you want this. a $15 USB Gig ethernet adapter plugged in the back solves it and works well.
Does the USB DRIVE support NTFS & EXFAT format?
FAT32 and exFAT
also supports YERFAT
What is model number? Need to be able to setup in Harmony Elite
