Hey Joshua Bardwell, I finally broke down and bought the DJI goggles with the 2 DJI cameras and 2 air units. I've installed them on mine and my son's quads. Both are Armittan Chameleons. My issue is the back stand off as you know has only the one antenna hole and it's only for a coaxial style connecter to fit in. So at first I had supported the antennas with tie wraps, hoping to protect the mmcx connectors. But my son and I have both broken a connector off an antenna. I've since bought the 3" extension that goes from mmcx to rp-sma and bought the DJI rp-sma antennas. And have not secured them in the rear up right and drilled a small hole in the top plate and secured the other there. Man this quad is packed now.... And figured all is good now.... Till yesterday in a crash and only from impact I broke off another mmcx connector in the hole on the air unit. So my question is are you guys having an issue with these mmcx connectors breaking or the connection hole wearing out to the point it's not staying connected? Seems like DJI, being the Rock solid manufacturer that they are, got everything right with their HD system except the mmcx connection. Wish they would have used some kind of protection for it or done something like TBS did by mounting that security plate over the connection to ensure it doesn't get ripped off. I mean the research has been done, that we drone pilots tear these mmcx and ufl connectors up all the time. Hence why TBS did what they did. Any suggestions? Oh and as much as we've all screamed for an on/off switch on our goggles DJI really missed that as well.
Can you install the antennas into the 3D print and connect to the air unit, then install everything as a unit instead of trying to make the connection after the 3D print is mounted?
Could I still use the wiring harness for the air unit and flight controller if I’m using a seperate crossfire receiver? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Totally off topic but i wonder if youve ever mentioned, say getting stuck in a tree after most of your pack is used up, most of us want to try to turtle mode and full throttle right away. But i think if you wait a couple min for the battery to rebalance, or cool down, it will give you a better chance on getting out. Speaking from experience. Happy flying!
Hey josh I’m hoping to build this quad soon and I’m wondering how you get the 3D printed parts to hold the camera and the antennas? Do they come with the frame or the fpv system? Or do I have to buy them separately? Thanks in advance!
I want to know too. It's certainly heavier and bigger, and it doesn't fit all builds. Also, top racers say it introduces a bit of latency even if it's flyable and HD boosts their confidence having a clearer image. Also, it's much more expensive if you destroy your equipment inside the quad. He did many reviews but they're all very objective and professional, so I still want to know his real personal opinion on the matter lol
i got a question.i use your board bradwell f4 aio 32b stack and if i wanna connect it write com6 port conection failured..i tryd so much but i cant find where is the problem.any idea?
Can this build be flown on both 4s and 6s?This is what iswritten on NewBeedrones's website in regards to the FC + ECS stack "Though DJI Air Unit can only support up to 4S, the Infinity 30 Stack can make the DJI Air Unite compatible with 6S batteries by providing a 9V 16W clean power for the DJI Air Unit.
@@mikej8940 How interesting. So you're basically ruining your antennas by mouting them like this. Maybe needs further testing, would make an interesting video
@@JoshuaBardwell I have tried everything and can't figure out how to configure a beeper on that FC. Tried to change the resource but the beeper/buzzer isn't an option.
Hey Joshua, i don't fly regularly as i am afraid my stuff will get stolen so it wait for a family member to be free, what can it do? There are no rc pilots in my town
Put everything in a backpack, as you are flying you have the backpack between your legs (doesn't matter if you are standing or sitting, you can figure it out). If you feel like someone is messing with your stuff or you have a gun to your head or whatever, full throttle the drone in to the guy. Simple, when he sees a 50kmh+ quad flying towards him he will run, then you chase him. You save yourself and have a lot of fun. Also remember to post the video on RUclips!
The digital systems won't affect your TX, so you won't get fail safes. But it could affect your video. Though you can still avoid each other's channels, just like you would with analog video.
Wow, I literally just checked to see if you uploaded this yet and you did 20 seconds before 😂 love it Also, are you going to mount a GoPro onto this build?
So far, I haven't wanted to mount a GoPro on any of my DJI builds. But I also haven't used my DJI builds as my primary freestyle quad for making flight edits. I probably would use a GoPro for a serious flight edit but not for more casual stuff.

I don't think that would work well.
@@JoshuaBardwell thank you.
@@JoshuaBardwell why not? This is what I was going to suggest also. If you build another one, can you try it and let us know how it goes? Thank you.
I had the same thought!!
Thank you for the build. Any chance you’ll show one for DJI fpv and 6S? Thank you!
Could I still use the wiring harness for the air unit and flight controller if I’m using a seperate crossfire receiver? Any help would be greatly appreciated
As you didn’t do it, Is it still a good idea to use capacitors for a DJI build? The DJI air unit doesn't seem to show any noise like analog systems.

Have u self 3d printed those part or did they come in package
Awesome build and instructions….. thank you so much and you do great work! Helped me get mine together so Im now subbed for life.
Why haven't you mentioned Jumper T16 in your fpvknowitall site? is it working well?
I'm just slow to update the site.

I'm not sure if they're included or sold separately but Rotor Riot sells them regardless.
Joshua Bardwell thanks so much! Any other tips that aren’t in the video for when I build this?
Is there anywhere that sells a full kit so we don't have to part it out from different places?
Yes you can buy a similar kit from rotor Riot store.
@@JoshuaBardwell Awesome. Thanks
Hey Joshua, would you recommend the DJI FPV system over analog video with a Fatshark HDO and Rapidfire?

Power it from vBat (if you are using 4S or below) or a standalone voltage regulator.
you need to grind the antenna holders down so most of the antenna is sticking out the TPE shifts and blocks the radio waves see painless360 for info
It's a tradeoff between range and protecting the antenna.

i wish you would of shown how to connect with third party radio
Hi if we want to connect dji air uni with pixhawk 4 do u think it is possible and if so do u have any suggestions how?
There is a way to do it with an Arduino nano translating.

You can use your Taranis Xlite but you would have to install a FrSky receiver just like you might expect.

Just an FYI...I contacted DJI support about the american face light leakage and supposedly they are working on replacement face pads.
American face?
