When he went back for revenge after beating the game... Made a huge deal yelling "I'll kill you! I'll kill you!" Spits at the sight of Olgath... Then gets 1 hit KOed without even swinging his sword at Olgath lol. Classic. Loved this vid Joe!
B1ueD3vi1 I legit wish I had an experience like this, but the only one I've ever had this experience with was Azgrom (forgot his title). Even after unlocking all the abilities and all but one health upgrade, AND branding a warchief of Azgrom's level to aid me, he still kills us both, I don't even try anymore lol, I think I'm going to pay him a visit today tho, I've had it, I'll brand a bunch of Uruk along the way too so that they can distract him during combat 😈
I knew a guy. Norsko. 'The Rat', they called him. Rats run, but not Norsko. No, Norsko was a fighter. A good one. First Uruk to send me to the grave, he was. I was young and foolish, testing my strength against whoever I could find. Then he appears, a name. The first one I've faced. Adrenaline pumping, I take him on. He's good, but I can match him. But then my inexperience starts to show. I'm surrounded. More captains show up. I thought I was invincible. Norsko showed me I was wrong. A lot of promotions were handed out that day. Ranks changed hands. It's funny how a body can carry more weight when dead. Norsko got the brunt of the appraise and applause. He took a step forward, gloating the whole time. I didn't like that. At all. I rose from the dead, blood boiling. I wanted revenge so badly. I hunted Norsko down and tried to kill him. Instead I found out how much revenge can cost. I was slowly learning that Norsko got stronger everytime he killed me. More powerful in more than just rank. My determination to kill him never wavered and eventually I got my wish. It took time, another captain getting a lucky shot in, a lot of orc corpses and a few of my own but I did it. His power level was 9 and I made sure he never saw double digits first-hand. Norsko was no more. Or so I thought. Somehow, he didn't die. I was running free sometime later, already forgotten him when he attacked me. Suprise and shock were the brothers by my side as I read that dreaded name. I didn't understand it. It must be a error. So I decided to debug it and once again teach Norsko how much better off he was when his head departed his shoulders. But it didn't end. He appeared again sometime after that. He was more powerful and had a poisoned mace. His presence certainly felt like poison. And his taunts always beat themselves into my skull. Norsko would not die, even when I killed him. This time he was better of us. I ran. Since then I could only watch as he lived on, bearing the scars of our history as his power increased. One day, there she stood. Mightiest of the captains yet not even a warchief. Power level 20. Skirmish after skirmish and we learned to stop killing each other; he couldn't manage it and I didn't want to. Truth be told, I was proud of him. We'd both made it as far as we had by killing each other. If there was a chance that we could break the cycle, killing Norsko for good, it would wait. Norsko was an enemy worth fighting. A rival to wrestle with. A foe to give battle purpose. He was my nemesis. It was sadly not to last. I had only started killing warchiefs when it happened. Norsko was my dear Ratbag the Coward's bodyguard so there was even some tactical worth in keeping him alive at this point. Naturally it was entirely my concern when a duel was struck up between him and some level 8 trash. I forget the whelp's name as he was not even worth remembering. We shall call him Morgul. I do recall that he was known as 'Map Bearer'. I decided to take part in watching this bloodbath. Perhaps I shouldn't have. We'd always cursed each other, but I never wanted this. I expected Norsko to triumph easily, as he should. He wasn't unstoppable, as I knew firsthand, but there was no enemy who'd made the progress he had. It should have gone to him. But life isn't fair. The poisoned mace was a pretty thing, but when you aren't as fast as a Ranger, it's sadly ineffective against a shield and trident. As I watched I realised that Norsko was losing. At once I felt a need to protect my personal villain from an ungainly death. I resolved to step in and save his life if he should reach critical levels. It was a decision made too late and too indecisively. Even as I steeled myself to interfere, Morgul jabbed with such ferocity that he wiped Norsko's health out from over the halfway point. In one single blow, Norsko was gone. For good this time. His position wouldn't be redeemed through his animated corpse it would be stolen by this 'Morgul Map Bearer' who I had known for all of two missions. It was unjust. It was unworthy. I should have been the one to kill him. It should have been a fight with grandeur and closure. It should have been our personal showdown after all we'd been through where I finally put him in his place and proved to him that we were no longer equals and we never would be again. But that right was lost in this single accidental moment of weakness. It would not be unpaid for. I leapt from my perch and in the single push of a button, in a single flash of my blade, I cut Morgul Map Bearer's throat, killing him at once. It wasn't fair to have his rightful victory snatched from him, but after watching an unknown fool kill my longtime nemesis I was in no mood to discuss injustice. As his life slipped away I whispered to him: "Norsko would never have fallen to that." It's true. He was immune to stealth. I looked down upon the miserable faces of the two dead Uruk who had come here to contest each other, willing to take on the risk of death, even if it meant no longer fighting the people they truly hated and I realised, as their followers fled the scene and as I stood there in the middle of it all, collecting their final runes to remember them by, nobody was happy. Nobody left that day with a warm heart and a smiling face. Was it worth it? Should I have done that? I may never make up my mind on any of it save for one detail. Nobody in all of Mordor - in all of Middle Earth - will ever match the glory of my one true nemesis. Farewell, Norsko the Rat.
Wow, that's 2 minutes I will never regret wasting. This is awesome. Weirdly, inside of me, I would've wanted to close Norsko's eyes and say, "Farewell, my good friend."
That was singlehandedly THE greatest gaming experience I have ever read, ever. It's true, everyone needs a real rival, someone to contest with, someone who will stand as an equal to you so that he will be a challenge worth confronting.
When you get a tons of money from Warner Bros then of course he'll like it. www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases/2016/07/warner-bros-settles-ftc-charges-it-failed-adequately-disclose-it
the fact that WB does it doesn't mean that Joe accepted the $ or likes it only because of the $. SoM was a great game with or without the bribery, so it was a stupid move to begin with.
There was an orc by the name of Pug Pit Fighter. He started his military career as a nobody, just a humble javelin-wielding hunter, trying to make his way in Mordor. I was in the fighting pit in the proving grounds, killing another captain, when Pug got in a lucky shot and killed me. This began a long, vicious rivalry. Pug had a game of spear-throwing orcs, and whenever I tried a direct confrontation, they would almost immediately turn me into a pincushion. Worst of all, Pug was fond of humiliation, he would never take the killing blow, he'd just walk away and expect his minions to sort me out. The first time I killed Pug, I exploited a fear of caragors, and a vulnerability to mounted finishers, shredding his flesh with the sharp teeth and claws. I was shocked to run into him again, just a few minutes later, while I was pursuing another captain, the scars of his ordeal still fresh. I lost the fight, but tracked him down to fort Durthang, where he was bragging to his gang of his victory on a bridge. No more did he have his fear or weakness to caragors, in fact he had become a monster slayer. Pug never had the same weakness twice, in hindsight, I admire his adaptability. I took him down with a single headshot from the top of a tower, but I knew he'd be back. I went to the sea of Nurnen then, and had many trials and ordeals there, leaving Pug alone in Udun. When I lead my brainwashed warchiefs against the Tower of Sauron, I couldn't help but grin to see Pug Pitfighter standing at the head of Sauron's army, horribly scarred, missing an eye, and as eager to put an end to our feud as I was. But Pug had grown complacent in my absense, he was no stronger than he was when I left Udun. When his head rolled free of its body across the ground, I felt a surge of triumph, then bitter, crushing emptiness. My Nemesis was dead, and I realized then that I needed him just as much as he needed me, we defined ourselves by our combats with each other. I've tried making new rivals, there's Gubuk the handsome, who's invulnerable to everything but ranged, who I shot in the face with a flaming arrow and horribly scarred, just to give him a little extra incentive to come after me, (and out of my own sense of irony for the "handsome" orc). But deep down I know no Uruk will ever hold the same place Pug did. Rest while you can, Pug Pit Fighter, when Talion at last fails to rise from death, the battle will continue in hell.
+David Axelord - That was a truly beautiful story. Reminded me of my biggest nemesis, Skak: The Bone Collector. I first bumped into him when he was a lowly captain. Somehow, he got the best of me. About 10 minutes later, he appeared again, with a new metal plate going from his forehead down to where his right eye was, while I was in the middle of a fight with an army of Uruks. He changed the tide of the battle and took me out again. Throughout the entire first half of the game, Skak would just show up, usually in the middle of a fight just to screw me over. Eventually, he was able to shrug off every attack I threw at him. I started to lose hope and tried to avoid his as much as I can. When I gained the ability to stun Uruks by jumping over them, I finally had a way to beat him. Jump over him, stun him, get a few hits in, rinse and repeat until finally, I got my sweet revenge. I thought it was over, but not 30 minutes later, Skak was back, head plate and all. This time, I knew what to do, and proceeded to slowly butcher him once again. Surely it was over this time. Surely I was finally free from the terror that was Skak ... if only I knew how wrong I was. I went to take on the Tower, and there he was, The Bone Collector, alive and will, wearing that head plate with pride, and with an entire army behind him. I was shocked, in denial, full of pure rage, but most of all, excited. I called out to my greatest rival, "Skak! I don't know how you survived, and right now, I don't care! This war between us ends here, right now!" My warchiefs got a few shots in, but I refused to let any of them get the killing blow. Skak was the last one standing, and in the end, I ran my blade through his heart. Skak: The Bone Collector, the bastard that terrorized me for so long, laid dead at my feet. With his death, all of the feelings coursing through me were lifted and replaced with only one ... relief.
The funniest part is when he says at the very beginning about being sick: Joe: "No, it isn't..." Me: "COVID!" Joe: "...Ebola." Man, 2014 was such an innocent time.
R.I,P Olgoth the humilator the Uruk who bring peace and equality to the Uruk, build hospitals and schools ......you were no good with words but your mercy will never be forgotten... will miss u
+paul lynch Watch his Top 10 Games of 2014/Controversies of 2014. He tells everyone the exact reason why no review came. The publishers wanted only good things to be said and no bad things so him and a bunch of other reviewers did not do the game. This is how you can tell who come here specifically for the reviews only and don't watch anything else lol
I've always wanted a system like this actually. It at least seems to elevate the regular cannon fodder bad guys into characters of their own right, and guys with a bit of challenge and memorability. How many times do you get to actually say 'No! This is OUR fight!' XD
Yeah so true about cannonfodder raising, I was on one of the quest to brand warchiefs and while I was dealing with his bodyguards deep in stronghold before facing him I got my self in a bad spot, did kill my target but I planned my exit strategy poorly and this one nameless berserker got last hit on me and dared to mock my death. He got promoted to captain so of course I chased him down and got my revenge, the fight of that same battle was still going strong when he appeared again! This time he had poison weapons that he could throw and they killed me instantly, I was so pissed. That fight went back and forth between us a long time since neither of us stays death till I finally managed to chop his head off. I respect a lot those berserkers now.
The nemesis system was alright (not great) to be frank. This is mostly because the game's difficulty doesn't facilitate the effective use of the nemesis system. You have to die in order to create these "stories" and "personal conflicts". But I have finished the game and I only died twice, because I was very good at surviving (escaping when things got real bad) and also planning out my attacks at utmost efficiency. The level of strategy you can employ in carry out assassinations is definitely the highlight of the game and surpasses the uniqueness of the nemesis system in it's enjoyment factor.
I really like how this game handles failure. They implemented it in a way that makes sense. No respawning from a checkpoint as if you were perfect and destined to succeed without no slip ups. You can fail; if you do, the game gets tougher. That failure is stained into the world, being thrown in your face when you next encounter the enemy that killed you. But it makes that eventual success so rewarding. I can't wait to get this game
TheUnholyHandGrenade Prak Jaws. TearofGrace was playing a handicap on hardmode while AngryJoe was playing prior to the first boss and minus a lot of the abilities, not to mention the fact he didn't look to have any of the purchasable health, focus and ammo upgrades. Plus, Prak was just a Captain while Olgoth was a Warchief that AngryJoe had the choice to go after or not. TearofGrace didn't have that luxury. Olgoth could have been countered. Prak was just a force of nature. Also, AngryJoe managed to decapitate Olgoth, so he can't come back we last saw Prak getting stabbed. There's a good chance he's still around.
Jarryd Ladhams To the point where Prak constantly reappeared seconds after leaving. From the opposite direction to which he left. I think it'd be brilliant if they make a sequel where the first game's nemesis is at least a major antagonist, if not the game's big bad. Imagine their horror if their nemeses showed up, actively leading an army to hunt them down.
+Ian McDonald Kruk. Olgoth didn't come back to life, was still late-game and didn't actively hunt Joe down. And let's not forget the whole episode devoted to organising a riot either.
Love how Olgath seems to let Joe kill his minions, and when Joe thinks he has the upperhand, Olgath steps in and humiliates him. It's like Olgath knows how Joe is going to fight, and turns his strength against him.
Its even funnier that Olgoth has the 'humiliator' trait which means he won't kill joe because he is unworthy LOL. The nemesis system really is a fantastic addition.
bkLEGION3000 It's funny though that they kill low level captains in duels and executions and such but refuse to kill a legend who's killed literally hundreds if not thousands of orcs. I guess their definition of "Unworthy" is "not uruk".
+Alex Cousins not gonna happen :(. if he was to review it, he had to talk only the good side and not the bad side, why they decided to do that, i dont know. it just happened to be that way.
+Kallactor Lomool Cause people are ass holes and can not take criticism. Hell I'm pretty sure he would have given it a seven or above and told people to buy it. Morons just don't realize good press when they have it hanging in front of their faces.
Really? Assassin creed has always been getting better with each game and is still great to play too. This games combat isn't really anything different from AC
Joseph Villa exactly. But there so much more than that. SOM offers much deeper strategic combat experience. The game doesn't hold your hand with challenging enemies with huge varieties. The weapon runes system and death penalty system is gotta one of the most innovative addition to a true sandbox game. Not like AC counter everything FTW and shove cutscenes of shitty story down your throat till you fucking choke on them.
Jody Boles It is different it actually takes some skill. Their is not much behind the AC combat you are pretty much killing the same enemies you have very few ways of killing them as well.
I was very skeptical and thought of it as a gimmick. But after I had my own personal rival......I really like this system a lot. I made the mistake of going through most of the game without dying. Then I realized I was missing out on a lot, so I quit using the cheap abilities and made it harder on myself. That made things a lot more.....interesting.
For anyone wondering what that cool hard rock music is that first starts playing at 11:01, allow me to enlighten you. The song is called 'Alarm' and it is by an indie rock group called SN-Music, you can find a preview of the song at Audiojungle.net, a song marketplace by the company Envato. To buy a license it costs $18, but the preview is pretty good I'd say. It is also the same music used in Joe's ESO PVP Angry Army Event! There you go.
gurdijak Yeah, just so you know, I'm not saying $18 is by any means a good deal. That's why I think the preview even if it does have the Audiojungle watermark is pretty good.
Joe. You really should buy a Wii U. It's a great console, and deserves a lot of support. There are many exclusice titles that you missed out on, and so I want you to experience the awesomness of Nintendo exclusives! Not trying to force you, it's your choice, but man. I just could wish that you bought a Wii U in the first place. Yeah. Come at me fanboys! Trust me. I also like PS4, Xbox One and PC (PC is obviously my favorite) But Wii U is definitely a console to check out as well.
Its a shame that people who have been waiting on this review get put on the back burner because he just got a game he wants to dive into. Especially when he even said he had the video planned out already he just had to film it. Im sorry but that is a bit selfish of him. He knows the game has been out for a bit now and that alot of people look to his reviews to see whether or not to actually buy it. He has already put work into the vid...but yet stops in the middle of it because he got a shiney new toy. So now people have to wait for him to play this new game...write the review for it...film it...put it out....then maybe...if he has time he'll come back to Shadows. Which I highly doubt that he will seeing as another huge game that i know Joe is a fan of is coming very soon as well....Dragon Age Inquisition.
Well I don't mean to start a argument with you, but let's face it. He's a gamer, and is going to play what he wants to play when he wants to play it. Besides, his reviews have never been out first (to my knowledge mind you), but I definetly see where you are coming from, as he is a reviewer.
I agree 100%. When IGN gives a game a great score, I usually wait for Joe to back it up since publishers have been rumored to pay them off. Joe, you dropped the ball on this one. Alien: Isolation first? Really?
Angry Joe - Can be damaged by Ride to hell retribution - Fear of Star wars Kinect Hate Of Cooperate Commander Hate of Micro-transactions Immune to bullshit Gang (Angry army) Bodyguard: Other Joe Uses Angry Fire dual swords Man of steel
ter0revil The imagery you set up is amazing. A stone wall falls over and kills a man. (skyrim level up music) then it rises up and turns into a metal wall.
I never really had trouble with most of the warchiefs. It just took a little preparation; take out the bodyguards before the fight, find their weaknesses, exploit them. After that is was a breeze for most of them. Once you got branding, you could just make the captains betray their warchief. Before doing that, just brand the surrounding archers or regular uruks and activate the branded captain. The fight'll pretty much always end up with your captain becoming warchief.
Same, and that bitch wasn't even a combat master, and as you saw in the video he couldn't defend himself when stunned anyway should have been an easy kill.
Been a fan for a long time! But I just stumbled across this video and I wish I could have seen this video come to fruition. We share a lot of same gaming views and I wish I could work with you some day. I'm not active on social media and I freakin build RV's for a living but what you and OJ do, man... The nostalgia is real, and seeing you guys together makes me remember why I fell in love with video games in the first place. Keep up the good work, and I always got your back! Peace! ✌
There was one captain on mine called gundza the unclean and after I killed him 10 min later he came back with bandages on his head and his motive changed to get revenge on talion :)
I was already interested in this game's nemesis system but seeing Olgoth taunt you and walk away after defeating you is amazing. I love also how the other orc taunted Joe. That was BS at 15:22. Olgoth didn't even hit Joe. Olgoth catching his grammar error was also great. "Soon one of us will be dead. I think it will be me.... that kills you!" That and the chanting of "Olgoth" in the background. Also, someone tell Joe that "mano y mano" means "hand to hand".
oh my FUCKING GOD it was so painful watching joe have a 30 hit streak or even 50 and not using an execution. and did he not know about runes? cos when he branded or drained and stuff he didnt get any health whatsoever.
Pouya Soufi Nejad perhaps he didn't want to use them to make the game more difficult. I did something a bit like that with Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City; I upgraded everything but my health in order to make the game more difficult. And yes, I beat both on Hard.
Pouya Soufi Nejad I fully agree with the overpowered part at the end, I remember picking fights with boatloads of Uruks just cause I knew I could get away with it. But I also liked how in the Arkham games, even with everything but health leveled up You could still die, and you actually had to practice in order to play with the reduced health
Also he did the smart thing by using the combo finisher once and he did if u weren't paying attention but not using the second one because u get a damage buff if u have a combo
This game was so epic for that "Nemesis" system part ! I remember, my nemesis was so OP, He end up to be the final boss (before the real final boss) haha !
same thing happened with me, the little shit was a dual weilding berserker with half a billion health and was immune to combat finishers, stealth, arrows, and basically everything other than graug and straight-up man fighting. Took down 5 brainwashed warchiefs before i got him.
I can highly suggest this game. My first playthrough has 44 hour in it (it counts your time played for you), and I'm about to start my second. For me the gameplay isn't necessarily easy, but it gets frantic quick in the strongholds. I don't die that often, but I constantly find myself hanging on to the edge of my seat while I duck and weave through crowds executing high priority targets while dodging throwing spears and crossbow bolts. The key systems in this game are the Nemesis system and the combat, both of which are executed fantastically. There are some problems with button layout at times; though you quickly get used to them. The game is fairly well paced as you do not get the ability to brand/command orcs until much later in the game. You could rush to the branding and getting the ability to issue orders to the orcs, but it's a much more visceral experience if you kind of take your time. Depending on how good you are at games like this will depend on the level of fun you will have. Some people claim that the game is too hard, but if you stick it out and learn from your mistakes, learn how to counter a certain orc strengths/weaknesses it can be a very rewarding experience.
It is a fun game. The gameplay is similar to Arkham and Assassin's Creed in the world of The Lord of the Rings. The nemesis alone keeps you busy with murdering captains or taking control of captains and help them rise through the ranks to take control of the army.
***** just spam combat brand on his allies if its too hard, they ignore immunities. The one Joe is fighting is not immune to stun, which should make him super easy.
I just recently got hooked on this game again and thought to myself "I don't remember an Angry Joe review of this". Then I remembered he got busy and pretty much did this instead. That 12:45 to 13:09 portion had me laughing my ass off! Watching these videos is such a joy and makes me realize I'm not alone at sucking from time to time.
You people are so annoying. It's like you have absolutely no other entertainment other then Joes reviews. Do you just sit by the computer all day waiting for another gam review from Joe? If not then just shut the fuck up. There are other forms of entertainment. If you are only relying on Joe for entertainment then ur an idiot. Once in a while I check to see if he has a review if he does then awesome but if not then I wait. But you people just absolutely have to bitch like little girls if Joe doesn't have a review for a game a week after its release date. If you are really waiting on his review so you can buy the game then that's just fucking stupid. If you want to play a game then go buy it. That's stupid to have to wait for someone else's approval before buying a game. When will you annoying " MORE REVIEWS" people just shut the fuck up? The virginity is strong with you annoying people who have to have a review every week even if there are no games to review. Go get laid and quit bitching that someone who doesn't work for you hasn't given you something.
+Mike Clossin Yea we are awful for being fans of joes and being upset that he is no longer delivering. How dare we!? I've sat by for MONTHS defending comments just like the one I made and you know what enough is enough. The guy is a critic who rarely makes reviews anymore. He does a bunch of stupid let's play videos and tries to act like pewdiepie. If I wanted to be bored to death I'd watch pewdiepie. I watch joe cause he does high quality reviews...or at least did. But now I'm done. He's had enough the and chances and all he does is continue to drop excuses. Hate on my opinion all you want. I don't care what you think I'm here for what JOE DOES.
softrockification oh sorry so the dry season has been going for 12+ months now? There has been at least 2 games per month deserving of reviews. Thanks for playing.
That feel when you finally kill your nemesis. I had a guy (Malmug The Large) who killed me like, 5 times. So in the end, I just abandoned him, went around murdering a bunch of other captains, and came back. His only weakness was he was scared of Caragors and he was hurt by combat finishers. Problem was, I was terrible at fighting caragors at this time, still hadn't gotten the hand of dodging. (In fact, I'm still not great), so that was out of the question (if a Caragor had wounded me and then he got the kill, he would have just gotten more powerful). He had an attack that needed to be dodged as well, so that was why he killed me. When I went to fight him after grinding the other captains, I managed to do it. The feeling of pride that I had. He's the worst one I've had yet, although there was a guy (something the Claw) that killed me a couple times. I managed to brand him and he took the place of a warchief, so that was great. And then I had one guy who just refused to die. I killed him like, 4 times. It was like Skorn The T-word (don't remember what it was). He was a pushover, but he just refused to die. In fact, I'm still not sure he's actually dead in my game, I've yet to cut off his head (That's the only way you can be 100% sure they're dead, right?), so that's fun.
I have an old clip of me finishing my nemesis in the final battle. This guy made the dark hand look like a pushover. I killed him over 5 times and he kept coming back.
Char Aznable Why not? does his opinion justify the reason why you have to say not to a review on a game? there are dozens of RUclipsrs out there to comment on their videos blog but you choose to comment on this one, it means that you care.
my first fight was vs 3 captains and I got murdered. after that got to fight one guy with crossbow and he 2 shotted me but then i learned their weakness and got sweet sweet revenge. cool game totally worth it!
Without Olgoth, Joe soon found that the sweet taste of victory was but a fleeting moment. Now alone in the dark void of Mordor he found no battle, no orc nor man could fill space left behind by his nemisis Olgoth. Joe was a ranger, a killer, a warrior with no one worthy to be his enemy.
i once battled a Captain who was invulnerable to stealth, ranged and combat moves. The only way to damage him was to build combos with other uruks and use wraith flash on him. That dude was a beast, so i had to dominate him. In the final battle he was very helpfull
you could also just hit him with normal attacks (not flurry), and when he gets knocked down use wraith burn. You'd be surprised at how effective wraith burn is at killing anything really, and with the double use of your ability you can use it twice at just combo 5 if you want.
I was thinking of getting this game, but in the game forum I usually visit I saw tons of topics about people complaining about difficulty, the last time I saw something like that and ignored it, I bought Ninja Gaiden for the original Xbox... and hated it with a passion (I could smash all the enemies even at the final levels) but couldn't even beat the first boss... I'll just stick with my Batman and AC lol, I am happy this game got decent reviews though, even if its not for me. Different types of gamers and all that. I barely have time for games these days, so when I play I want to enjoy characters, story, and setting. Challenge has never been that important to me, nor do I get satisfaction over beating hard games.
Its honestly not that difficult. Yes you sometimes lose Battles as you get overrun by Orcs but the stronger you get the more able you are to deal with them. Its a great great game
The difficulty is actually perfect. Challenging, but not too much so. The problem with the game is the story, which is very clearly tacked on. The game is meant to be played as a big aimless orc society simulator, and it can be fun for awhile in that respect.
All you little kids do nowadays bitch and bitch and bitch about difficulty yall only want shit easy everything handed to you dumbasses like COD i'm not having no problem with the difficulty i even took off the counter prompt and i'm still whooping their asses either get skills or go play CALL OF GAYS gtfoh.
Olgoth reminds me of my own nemesis warchief of a similar name: Olrok Guard Master. Also had a shield, regenerated health like crazy, and was immune to everything except combat finishers. Unlike Joe, I didn't even try progressing in the story until he was dead. I earned a few skill points killing his bodyguards, but that was it. Watching his head roll was the best feeling a video game has given me that I can remember.
I like the idea of this Nemesis System, though I am looking forward to it working better in other games in the future. The LotR setting limits the game abundantly. You can't defeat Sauron or the nazgul according to lore, so all you can do is kill orcs... a lot. It seems enjoyable, but just imagine what could have been done in a different setting. And I find the "return from the dead" part too cheap. This wraith thing is a half-assed solution that barely works withing the LotR setting and would certainly work even harder in any other setting. I'm sure someone in the future can figure out a better way to work with the Nemesis System without you dying over and over again. Maybe forcing you to flee when you almost die, otherwise game over. That would even add to your humiliation and to the badguy's fame.
I think the Nemesis systems idea is that you don't have to kill Sauron or the nazgul; you get your own boss fights by playing the game and thus you'll get different bosses than your friend. If there's some guy who has managed to kill you multiple times, you two will have history that actually feels unique and you get to tell about it to your friends instead of just saying "don't you just hate this scene where this guy kills you and you can do nothing about it and you know you'll kill him later".
I think it's great that you don't get to fight the "big guys" I think this game would be really boring if that was the case. This is way better this way. :)
I love how neither of the replies actually go along with how awesome the nemesis system might be in later games and instead go against the rather minor point that in lore you can't kill the actual big guys of Mordor. I get what the two replies are saying and the nemesis system is good now, but I like with the OP says about how it might be improved upon. I especially like idea of FORCING the player to run or die in very tough boss fights. You grind the guy who kills you when you respawn. You fear the guy who forces you to run away.
i agree on the forcing you to flee part and that if other games adapt this feature and add the force to flee instead of dying over and over.. it would be a hell of a game.. i also agree that reviving over and over is cheap.. its so OP. but i guess thats what the nemesis system is for, if you keep dying and dying then the boss might come to a point that its also over OP.. that is great itself but id take forcing you to flee or running away a better idea.
Andry Bear I agree that some aspects of the game could have been refined upon, but as it is I have to say that it's an aptly enjoyable game. A well-made PC port too, which made me love it all the more, considering most people nowadays don't give a shit about PC ports and make it terribly because "why bother?". However, I do have to disagree on forcing a player to run away from a fight. I think perhaps an extra game mode where dying is permanent would be interesting, but permanent death in the main story of any game is absolutely a terrible idea. Forcing people to do things they don't want to will make most gamers simply call it a badly-made game, but at least the creators actually tried to make death worth something. In fact, I think they did a a rather good job at it, too. You can disagree if you like, of course. That's what the comments section is for. But personally, I believe that if they had done the Nemesis System in too much of a different way from how they did, it would not have bode well with the community.
"FINISH ME! FINISH MEEEE!!!"
Freakin hilarious. That was spot on for someone titled "the humiliator"
Lol so great. Literally begging for death just so he dies with honor.
13:55
"It's a shame Olgoth is so stupid."
18:16
"Too easy! How does it feel being so STUPID?"
"Shut up! Shut your mouth!"
Absolutely phenomenal.
PhantomDragon1475 lmfao
SHUT YOUR MOUTH
20:21 YOU ARE MINE OLGOTH!!!
everybody has that ONE arch nemesis, a lowlife captain that eventually became a chief. Oh,the beauty of this game...
but there nothing better owns you kill him you feel like BADASS !!! i hope they make shadow of mordor 2
ikr
I got one of the first tier dudes to a power level of 16 once
This is a fun game
My "One" Nemises was Skog Deadeye, HE WOULDNT DIE JEEZ.
I think he ded. Rip
7 years later and it still crack me up dyin gif laughter oh I love Shadow of Mordor and especially Angry Joe vs Olgoth 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
"COME ON! I'LL KILL YOU!!"
*gets his ass kicked litearlly 5 seconds later*
Deroni76 Felt like a punch in the stomach.
Brendan May Yea I just got the game the last week and now I got this Grisha the Cannibal who also has the poison one hit Bs.
+lcc284
so dont get hit. part of the training is timing/avoiding their strikes...
+Sandy Grungerson Yea I know I him after a few tries and a couple more like him those abilities are still a pain though lol.
lcc284
"Dont stop fighting, Ranger!"
lol
This was quite the delightful read my friend I thank you my kind sir and a good day for your work was _GLORIES_.
PUBLISH THAT SHIT
Wow, that's 2 minutes I will never regret wasting. This is awesome. Weirdly, inside of me, I would've wanted to close Norsko's eyes and say, "Farewell, my good friend."
Truely an incredible read. Thank you for taking the time to tell us your tale
That was singlehandedly THE greatest gaming experience I have ever read, ever.
It's true, everyone needs a real rival, someone to contest with, someone who will stand as an equal to you so that he will be a challenge worth confronting.
That "NOOOOOOO" at 14:54 was one of the most epic things I've ever seen
+Poorfucking Infantry
Dude, I can't think of amovie that had a better "NOOOOOOOO"
+Hobo Jenkins Joe had me diein, the music ques are too perfect
*****
Nah.
HE COULD'VE FUCKING EXECUTED HIM RIGHT THEN AND THERE. I SWEAR RUclipsRS ONLY LOSE FOR FUCKING CONTENT.
+Average Fanboy Yeah but he's doing it to entertain, and boy did he entertain. :)
So I take it Joe likes the game.
He gave this game number 2 at the top 10 best games of 2014
When you get a tons of money from Warner Bros then of course he'll like it.
www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases/2016/07/warner-bros-settles-ftc-charges-it-failed-adequately-disclose-it
BillWard Cant blame him then if I was getting a ton of money from WB I'll like anything they send me as well including the money.
the fact that WB does it doesn't mean that Joe accepted the $ or likes it only because of the $. SoM was a great game with or without the bribery, so it was a stupid move to begin with.
The game is still good regardless of WB predicament of paying reviewers.
David Axelord Dude this comment has me rolling good story Lmao thats some batman and joker shit
David Axelord That was cool man xD
+David Axelord I cri everytiem
Beautiful
With his death, all of the feelings coursing through me were lifted and replaced with only one ... relief.
That battle was the most epic thing I have witnessed.
Even better than the Mortal Kombat Tournament?
Victor Mcdouchebag Yes.
SHAO KAHN FUK YOU I HATE THAT ONE FIGHT YOU BITCH
Shao Kahn wins! Shao Kahn wins! Shao Kahn wins! Shao Kahn wins! Sorry.... I saw your name and it triggered some PTSD or something.
+Da GATMASTA If only I was in this game, I would wreck some Uruk ass.
This was one of the funniest/painful things I've ever watched. You gotta give Joe credit for never giving up.
The funniest part is when he says at the very beginning about being sick:
Joe: "No, it isn't..."
Me: "COVID!"
Joe: "...Ebola."
Man, 2014 was such an innocent time.
Lol I thought the same thing, glad I got this in my recommended
Ohh so the reason why Olgoth never gave the finishing blow on Joe was because he didn't deem him worthy of an opponent.
This orc is a beast! XD
Yeah, I've never seen a 'humiliator'
There are a tremendous amount of orc traits.
planescaped Yeah that's why I love this game, so much varieties on orcs. Both looks and traits.
I fought a humiliator, one of the worst kind of orc, they are really powerful and dont even give u the satisfaction of death if u fail.
mackenzie purnell I see, I guess if you put it that way it is a bit of a bad trait. As long as they are powerful, I'm satisfied I guess.
R.I,P Olgoth the humilator the Uruk who bring peace and equality to the Uruk, build hospitals and schools ......you were no good with words but your mercy will never be forgotten... will miss u
Uruk*
May he rest in peace.Amen...
uruks, peace, equality, education and hospitals don't fit in the same sentence. because in that sentence there is a word "uruk"
OLGOTH OLGOTH OLGOTH OLGOTH OLGOTH
Foxed**
Joe could have just killed Olgoth the first time he saw him with stealth.
***** the first time joe saw him he was able to be stealthed.
***** Yea but he still could have. I ma not blaming Joe i am just saying he could have.
still fun watching angry joe get.... well.... angry
im happy he didnt, the "FINISH ME!!" part was the best thing ive seen in a while
he can kill him easily with execution
So. About that review..
ya never came out haha
+paul lynch Watch his Top 10 Games of 2014/Controversies of 2014. He tells everyone the exact reason why no review came. The publishers wanted only good things to be said and no bad things so him and a bunch of other reviewers did not do the game. This is how you can tell who come here specifically for the reviews only and don't watch anything else lol
GR1M Equixz0r Or could just be that I haven't seen that particular video... Either way, thanks for clearing that up.
paul lynch :) Welcome!
+paul lynch Dude don't bother with dudes like this. Their there for nothing but to ass people out for no reason.
angry joe really savours his victories...he should be a villain.
+33melonpaws77 And Olgoth always spares him.
How ironic that Olgoth is called the humiliator when all he does is humiliate Joe the whole video XD
He definitely earns his name!
That's not what ironic means.
Yes it's a fitting name, not an ironic name although I bet Joe wasn't expecting for Olgoth to live up to his reputation lol.
Irony does not mean coincidence (I'm not a grammar Nazi, it's just the meanings are totally different). But I do see your point, and you're right :)
True true I just was trying to express what I assume was posters intent but you're right.
For everyone, who didn't get the name of the epic fight song, I'll make it easy: it's Alarm By SN Music!
Joe would make a good orc boss
He would probably be too easy lol
In difficulty yes, but in personality he would be great xD
NNJA HARRY Joe the Angry? I would feed him til level 20.
Sight T4K3DA JOE THE ANGRY HA
Well he is a troll in Witcher 3
I've always wanted a system like this actually. It at least seems to elevate the regular cannon fodder bad guys into characters of their own right, and guys with a bit of challenge and memorability.
How many times do you get to actually say 'No! This is OUR fight!' XD
Over 9000 lol
You know a game is good when the boss battles get personal!
Hippityhop11 Then fight to the death and shit will get more interesting.
this game was so epic
was?
dekster feastin were?
Still is mate
dekster feastin I agree, just haven't played it in a while
meh it was alright
I really like how this game handles failure. They implemented it in a way that makes sense. No respawning from a checkpoint as if you were perfect and destined to succeed without no slip ups. You can fail; if you do, the game gets tougher. That failure is stained into the world, being thrown in your face when you next encounter the enemy that killed you. But it makes that eventual success so rewarding. I can't wait to get this game
Okay, here's a match up for you:
AngryJoe's Olgoth the Humiliator
VS.
TearofGrace's Prak Jaws
Round 1
FIGHT!!
Shadow Scryer Well, that did happen when Tear went to finish the game.
What about Kruk Blood-axe before he was recruited vs Olgoth?
+Ian McDonald Kruk.
Olgoth didn't come back to life, was still late-game and didn't actively hunt Joe down.
And let's not forget the whole episode devoted to organising a riot either.
"the best Lord of the Rings game"
Ahem, Battle for Middle Earth would like a word with you, Joe.
"Total War: Third Age" might have a word too
He said one of.
Sparrowhawk He corrected it to "the best."
TLD mod for M&B is best
What about Lego Lord of the Rings?
JOE YOU CAN BRING OLGOTH INTO SHADOW OF WAR. GO BACK ONTO SHADOW OF MORDOR AND THEN GO ON THE NEMESIS FORGE! EVERYONE LIKE THIS SO JOE CAN SEE
looks like monolith did it for him.
The nemesis system really is a fantastic addition.
bkLEGION3000
It's funny though that they kill low level captains in duels and executions and such but refuse to kill a legend who's killed literally hundreds if not thousands of orcs. I guess their definition of "Unworthy" is "not uruk".
It's even more epic when he says to Joe: "Olgoth: Too easy, How does it feel to begin so stupid?" "Joe: SHUT YOUR MOOOOUUTHHH!"
xD
Its really a fantastic game
Anyone else still waiting for the review of this game?
+Alex Cousins not gonna happen :(. if he was to review it, he had to talk only the good side and not the bad side, why they decided to do that, i dont know. it just happened to be that way.
+Kallactor Lomool Cause people are ass holes and can not take criticism. Hell I'm pretty sure he would have given it a seven or above and told people to buy it. Morons just don't realize good press when they have it hanging in front of their faces.
Joe's desire for revenge was so great, he killed one of his own orc people in the rage. Shakespearean.
JOE. SHALL NOT. REVIEW!
I've got a jar of dirt
I've got a jar of dirt
I've got a jar of dirt
And guess what's inside it
Just dirt and air and bacteria because the heart was stolen before they got back to the ship lol
So the jar is made of dirt?
lol pirates of the carribian
+Tyler Crebs fucking dirt :D ?
Sand!
Who else came here from Joe's reaction to the new middle-earth trailer?
Look forward to the review. But I ll say this out loud. This game is a game that assassins creed will never be or even on the same level period.
Yeah Assassins Creed's combat is shit.
that bad, huh? :C
Oh, my God.
Dark Souls + Nemesis System.
The rages are served.
You sir, are devilish...
Jorge Martín Fontanini Imagine the difficulty curves. God, those curves.
Yeah, I have a guy that I'm planning on keeping around for a while, as well as some guy who absolutely kicked my ass early on into the game.
NONONONONO
dont let From implement that idea
Every time I see someone playing this I want to start playing it myself. Very addicting taking out stronghold after stronghold.
me too im geting it today
Think Arkham combat with a REALLY dense open world.
Matthew Behr Along with a very dynamic AI interaction(Nemesis system).
*joe*: Jesus Christ
*me*: no he hasnt become that strong
+robb stark I don't think getting crucified and dying in agony counts as "strong".
+DGneoseeker1 he died to save the world firstly, secondly he's God, so yeah my joke stands
robb stark
Well, looks like the saving the world thing didn't turn out that well.
***** Finally!!!
A lot of us had been asking about what that music was since the ESO videos.
Thank you for clearing this out.
octapusxft You're more than welcome! :)
Hey I was just wondering what the song was at 9:38
gurdijak Yeah, just so you know, I'm not saying $18 is by any means a good deal. That's why I think the preview even if it does have the Audiojungle watermark is pretty good.
God I hate the word "Indie". It's such a strange label.
You're lucky he wasn't a combat master xD
Glazium the Cold King and he's lucky he didn't have hate of pain too
By the way SOM is one of the best action games i have played in over 10 years it's now my top 10 favorite games.
***** And why is that?
***** Nope gaming evolves around me just like family lol been since Atari.
This game is amazing!! 😍😍
You probably haven't played many games for 10 years because there are far better games out there this isn't even that good.
Tomz Like what? Just saying, he is entitled to his opinion.
This is one of my favorite videos of Angry Joe! Shadow of Mordor nemesis system is one of the most fun game mechanics ever!
@21:42 That spit that hits the camera when he says Nogoth... It's pure victory leaving the body.
Why not 3DS instead?
Nintendo games suck imo
"Nintendo games suck, because they are childish". What about CoD?
No one here said they were childish did they?
Sorry. Was just predicting a reason why you think Nintendo suck :P
Well said Shadownian
AngryJoeShow take not.
he has a lot to do and he was sick like he said just don't be so harsh he trying
I agree 100%. When IGN gives a game a great score, I usually wait for Joe to back it up since publishers have been rumored to pay them off. Joe, you dropped the ball on this one. Alien: Isolation first? Really?
Implying any of us are entitled to a speedy video. I'm happy to wait as long as I need to for free content, he owes us nothing but we take everything.
This is one of the most epic episodes I've ever seen! I love how you chronicled your struggle to beat him,
I'm so amused that one of Olgoth's traits is refusing to kill you because you are unworthy. That's just the best.
Angry Joe
- Can be damaged by Ride to hell retribution
- Fear of Star wars Kinect
Hate Of Cooperate Commander
Hate of Micro-transactions
Immune to bullshit
Gang (Angry army)
Bodyguard: Other Joe
Uses Angry Fire dual swords
Man of steel
So this game is like trying to headbutt a wall, where the wall gets more powerful after every hit?
No... but nice try...
More like if the wall kills you it become stronger
ter0revil But that wont happen. Because this game is easier than hitting the toilet with your own piss whilst sitting.
ter0revil The imagery you set up is amazing. A stone wall falls over and kills a man. (skyrim level up music) then it rises up and turns into a metal wall.
SuperKnalxz Grey The man stands confidently in front of the metal wall, He looks up and smiles... FUS RO DAH!!!
This sir, has gotta be your finest hour and best video of your entire RUclips career.
Shadow of Mordor>Destiny.
Incoming fanboys in 3...2...1...
Eh, I like 'em both. (From what I've seen)
Completely different game styles but yeah it is better than destiny. Destiny felt like it was half finished and is way to grindy.
yeah.
yeah it is
Destiny isn't putting the bar very high to be honest. Not that it is a bad game (I get why some folks like it), but its far from a masterpiece.
Well Joe wanted a challenge and as he said in the video, he knew if he branded a captain to betray him he wou;d easily kill Olgoth.
I watched this video about 6 years ago and this what got me into shawdow of Mordor 🎉
He never did that review did he
Was the "Olgath" chanting actually in the game? Or was it added later?
If that's actually in game, that's the most metal thing ever!
Yes they chant the warcheifs in game
Every time a Warchief enters, the other Uruks start chanting his name. It adds just a little more awesomeness to each fight.
... That's metal!
I want this game so bad now!
Ditto, dude, ditto.
yeah, it chants the name of the orc captain in combat
I'd like to see someone make a picture of Angry Joe in medieval armor holding Olgoth's head in his hands.
I love the epic running away rock music at about 9 minutes.
The background music is from the game, I think.
It's just the music that comes on when fighting a War Chief.
Josh White no its edited in
This is such a classic. I come back and watch it sometimes
Almost 90+ hours, i can safely say, that this game was worth every fucking penny.
Wow the game can be that long?? Just started it
It depends on how much you mess with the captains
Yup.
Your wish came true!
Where is the review for Mordor??
Couldn't do it cause the company didn't want him to say anything negative about it (even though it was a amazing game).
Samuel Miller Is that truth?
Carlos Go-niji Loera Orozco No. Obviously.
josevonbuergenwader2 it is he said himself
popspy 76 Send a link to him saying that.
Joe could've used execution to deplete the Warchief's health faster, it annoyed me that he barely used that ability.
Same, and that bitch wasn't even a combat master, and as you saw in the video he couldn't defend himself when stunned anyway should have been an easy kill.
Boffifis1 The ultimate warchief is one with combat master, immune to ranged and stealth and gets pissed at everything. So fuckin hard to kill
Why is he called Unclean?
+Jake Bryant (JBryant) he was covered in dirt but it kinda looked like shit 😂
+DarthPerilus same he was the boss in my game (second last)
+TacoTruck that's book worthy
I was already interested in this game's nemesis system but seeing Olgoth taunt you and walk away after defeating you is amazing. I love also how the other orc taunted Joe. That was BS at 15:22. Olgoth didn't even hit Joe.
Olgoth catching his grammar error was also great. "Soon one of us will be dead. I think it will be me.... that kills you!" That and the chanting of "Olgoth" in the background.
Also, someone tell Joe that "mano y mano" means "hand to hand".
"Everyone, look! This... is Olgoth! Now... Nogoth!!"
Damn it, Joe.
He goes Super Saiyan at 14:55 haha that part with the music and AngryJoe yelling was so awesome!!!
Jon Houle team four star should use his yell
Years later and this fight is still awesome.
I have an archer that can only be damaged by fire.
FML
LordMatt48 i just made a spitbubble and scrolled down for a bit, saw you comment and spit all over my face LMAO :D
Disclaimer: This can can turn you into a raging sociopath hellbent on revenge.
This should be on the box.
I love it.
So true.
Your Shadow of War trailer reaction sent me here. haha!! This is awesome and hilarious.
That how you create your own story ;)
just learn bunji -_-"
Lord of the rings was an already existing story and there called Bungie
They're* sorry
JAZZAR
I'm talking about the story that you create for yourself while playing
if you watched destiny review you will understand what i mean ^^
*****
"Face Palm"
Dear god...
oh my FUCKING GOD it was so painful watching joe have a 30 hit streak or even 50 and not using an execution. and did he not know about runes? cos when he branded or drained and stuff he didnt get any health whatsoever.
Pouya Soufi Nejad perhaps he didn't want to use them to make the game more difficult. I did something a bit like that with Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City; I upgraded everything but my health in order to make the game more difficult. And yes, I beat both on Hard.
Nikita Makarov well that ruins it for me cuz i like that overpowered feeling u get at the end of the game.
You don't always get the health drain/brand rune most likely since there's a lot of fucking runes but he could of not of gotten it
Also he did the smart thing by using the combo finisher once and he did if u weren't paying attention but not using the second one because u get a damage buff if u have a combo
"Joe is fighting Olgoth again." - The Neighbour
oh my god you had no idea how hard i was laughing to this video. you are hilarious man.
Joes hair's looking so good bro...wtf lol. Hair aside....such an entertaining vid lollll
14:54 and 15:30 classic Angry Joe moments.
20:09 and beyond is the best part; the way the music swells and that laugh. HAHAHAHA
Joe please dont skip the review for shadow of mordor.
I'm waiting for your review so I can buy or not.
PLEASE!
If you liked the Arkham series and/or assassins creed, buy it it's those games together and better
Alright you guys convinced me.
I actually like both games
I enjoyed this as much as a review :)
Didn't know Joe was so bad at video games.
The warcheifs are bullshit. they are immune to EVERYTHING! lol
***** just spam combat brand on his allies if its too hard, they ignore immunities. The one Joe is fighting is not immune to stun, which should make him super easy.
ttobyg
18:31
***** IF you go there with no abilities of course you gonna get fuckt lol, i got nearly all abilities and can fuck everybody up
Burbin7995 I watched the video. My reply was directed at Justin Ross, in case you missed it. The stun part was directed at Joe.
Jesus Christ joe has more excuses for not making reviews than anyone ever. He's a god damn reviewer who never does any reviews...
Somebody does not understand what the gaming dry session is....
softrockification oh sorry so the dry season has been going for 12+ months now? There has been at least 2 games per month deserving of reviews. Thanks for playing.
d0x360 cry some more of free content lol if you want reviews everyday go to ign or other ones who actually get PAID to review games
Damm son. That's the extrime example of the nemesis system
I killed him over 5 times and he kept coming back.
omg this shit had me dying lol, he kept saying "its me and olgoth's fight" LOL funny as fuck
20:19 literally one of the most savage moments in history
I have this weird love/hate relationship with My Nemesis, Zogdush The Handsome. I even named my Orc in Skyrim after him.
He can probably 1v1 Sauron.
Keep up the great vids Joe, don't feel pressured to pump out content like crazy. People want a healthy, happy, angry Joe!
Still waiting for that review... it's been a month now and nothing.
What does sweat revenge taste like?
Alrickattack damn that autocorrect. sweet*
Alrickattack Salty.
This video felt friken awesome to watch haha
You're so right. Damn Olgoth was tricky fucker..
18:19 that reaction killed me ROFL made my week
i once battled a Captain who was invulnerable to stealth, ranged and combat moves. The only way to damage him was to build combos with other uruks and use wraith flash on him. That dude was a beast, so i had to dominate him. In the final battle he was very helpfull
Too bad you couldn't use Lion's Tooth because it got thrown in the river
you could also just hit him with normal attacks (not flurry), and when he gets knocked down use wraith burn. You'd be surprised at how effective wraith burn is at killing anything really, and with the double use of your ability you can use it twice at just combo 5 if you want.
"Your nothing! I'm something think on it!". -olgoth
I'm still watching this video even in 2016. One of his bests in my opinion
12:42 the best part.
Who else here in 2017?
The game is meant to be played as a big aimless orc society simulator, and it can be fun for awhile in that respect.
i do wish there was a difficulty setting? There is no difficulty setting that I can see
BoydofZINJ You could say that it is set on Normal Difficulty, so to speak.
They're called executions bro.
