Learn how to make the most famous Turkish pastry! Borek! This is very healthy as well, if you choose very low-fat ground meat and keep the oil as less as possible! You can use any other meat product or vegetable instead of ground meat!
Ingredients
5-6 big phyllos (fillo dough)
350 g. (0.8 lbs) ground meat
Half a cup of cooking oil (corn oil)
2 eggs
2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon of black peper
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of yogurt
1 big onion
Preparation
-Pre-heat the oven to 200 C (400F)
-Chop an onion finely, and start roasting it in a big pan. Add the ground meat, the salt and red
pepper flakes, cook it for a few minutes. Mix very well
-Beat an egg with a cup of yogurt, add half glass of cooking oil. You will use this mix to spread between layers of phyllo. For extra flavor.
-Oil the tray. Start placing the phyllos in to the tray. In every layer, spread some of the yogurt-eggs
mix. And in every 3 layer of phyllo, put some of the potato mix.
-For the top of the börek, beat an egg mixed with a tablespoon of yoğurt and spread it all around.
-Slice it before you put it in the oven.
-Cook for 35 minutes, until the top is browned.
-Serve immediately
We tried this in hrvatska kostajnica and couldn’t believe how delicious it was and now from New Zealand 🇳🇿 it’s time to replicate the recipe thank you 🌍
I saw this video and made it last night,it came out delisious, thanks
less filo and more minced meat, then it would be perfect! Thank you for this video :)
Look delicious, I eat it in Frankfurt long time ago (30 Years) it was so lovely like yours. Never forget the taste. Thanks for remember me on my childhood. Congratulation from Canary islands/ Spain.

Look so delicious 🤤
That phyllo is beautiful!! I wish we had that in Canada.. Maybe we do, but I've come across any like it - looks delicious!
DIY! it is not so much difficult as it may look.
I live in Canada and bought it from chinese store I also saw it in other grocery stores like no frills
I bought in supermarket in London ,250 gr terrible filo expensive.
Maybe I can find in bakery ? If you are lucky to buy fresh filo.
Hmmmm is all I can say. I'm headed to my kitchen now. : )
Thank you! You can cut after it bakes but it is easier to cut when it is still raw =)
i made it!!! it came out sooooooo good!
with yogurt it is much softer! you can use milk if you don't have yogurt, would be more or less the same. and yes sooner or later we will =)
I've made one today and it's amazing. Thanks for the inspiration ;)
Looks delicious.
thank you for your videos. I love them :)
There was a small bake shop that would serve Burek in the south of Hungary. I would have it there often when I made it to that part of the world, which was, fortunately, not that infrequently over about a 10 year period. That's the only time I've come across Burek and wouldn't know it otherwise. It's unusual because it's not Hungarian; we would have identified it more with Serbia, which is just across the border. Of course both peoples were occupied by the Turks, so there's the sharing of influence. And it was just like this too. Not too heavy on the meat. I'm glad to have found this and will definitely be making it. I may try adding a few peas for the boys and leave out the chili pepper. Maybe experiment with a tiny bit of rosemary or thyme. Kind thanks for posting it.
I have long wanted to make this after having eaten Burek in Melbourne over 40 years ago. I have been learning about the recipe for a long time now and would dearly love to purchase a Burek Pan/Pie dish such as you have in your video. Can you provide a link to a merchant somewhere in Turkey who could be be contacted, please?
Amazing I will try it in Raman
Thank you!
Thank U so delicious its worth the work and wait!
approximately how many grams of phyllo pastry did you use for this?
Can skip yogurt and mix egg oil and water only?

That looks SO good!!! My question is, HOW did you get that phyllo not to break and dry out??
I heard u cover the sheets with a wet towel when u not using it so in between doing your layers u cover it with a wet towel
***** Yes..I do that as well, but her sheets were perfection!!!
Her phyllo is Europe kind not USA kind, hers is thicker and softer
Paqe Yes. I finally found the perfect one here too. I live in Europe (Malta)

I have an occasion and am planning to make borek . Can I assemble ìt days before the occasion or does it have to be the same day
From what I know, it should be prepared on the same day unless you freeze it :)
Where can we buy this kind of phyllo in USA?
Nice but this video is a bit too long, I suggest shorter edits but overall good
This is bosnian burek.. Not a turkish!
Go away with your hate!
Does anyone know how much calories this Borek has?
My guess is, depending on the filling that may vary :)
Please go easy on the salt. Also, the recipe description mentions ground meat but says potato instead."🙃
like its yommy but bosnian is better
What is this called in Bosnia because a man let me try it one time that I worked with but I never knew what it was called and I have been searching for a recipe. The kind he had was super thick so many layers it was amazing.
Little meat too much dough
Long time ago, The Kross's Mom (our neighbors) made this once and I was smitten! I adore this dish. Check oslavakian
Too much dough
Meat was not enough
The Mother of the Bosniak Burek is the Turkey =)
That is so much oil!
It’s not pronounced nor spelled correctly either it’s spelled Burek
This video is way too long. I stopped watching. You could have demonstrated this recipe in 5 minutes. It shouldn’t have taken 13 minutes. Use Gordon Ramsay videos as an example. He makes complicated dishes in 4 or 5 minute videos.
Burek not "borek"
Its not BOREK its BUREK
δεν ηταν ευκολη
no philo poser
Yogurt in meat burek. Sacrilege!
