I could listen to Hansi read instruction manuals for 10 hours straight, for meditation

Unironically his speaking German in live show recordings got me interested in the language. He has such a lovely speaking voice

2024 and this album has become top 3 for me in the BG catalog.

One of the strongest Blind Guardian albums to date. The God Machine is pretty much neck and neck with Nightfall In Middle-Earth for third place in my book.

Thanks for this very insightful interview in English! It’s so interesting to hear, for example, that Let it Be No More was almost cut, Architects is Hansi’s favorite, and that there’s another masterpiece song that went unused!

As a spaniard myself I'm really looking forward for that Don Quijote song! So hyped.

I am probably lying to myself but If they wrote 14 songs on the pre production and 9 made to the final album, so they had a 5 songs head start in the next album and it will come out much sooner :D

They already had the songs for Legacy written in 2009, but the album was released in 2019 😄I know what you mean, but it never works this way for Blind Guardian :/

I wish they would do a part 2 to Nightfall in Middle Earth. And at the end can go into the War of Wrath

BG were a big part of my later youth, but I've lost interest completely after Nightfall... With this album, I kind of reconciled with BG. I even secured myself tickets for the current tour. My first, since the Nightfall tour.
Though I still more like the more straightforward stuff where Hansi is more screaming then singing, I think the current album has a great balance of all BG eras since Twilight...see ya in HH

Funny thing: On my listening to the record, "Let them be no more" was the first (and sadly only) one, which really stick to me.

This might be my least favourite Blind Guardian album but it still has some good songs. Damnation has a great chorus.

I tried ranking BG albums, but recently I just can't. It depends on the time and mood. Before this I did rank them but always with dilemma. I think The God Machine fills a much needed space of traditional Heavy Metal inspired BG, that was not found in their library before. For this reason I am glad they released this form of album now.

The god machine is to beyond the red mirror as Twist in the mist is to Opera: a more grounded effort. Good album, but to my taste is the very first that lost the innovating wow-factor tipical of every BG production. Maybe they jammed too much and as a result the songs are already live oriented instead of hyper complicated like usual.

So far I'm not digging this album too much. It doesn't seem to flow. The second half of the album sounds the same and boring. Other then the 4 singles nothing really stands out.
Edit: I still love it, it's just not my favorite or what I thought it would be based on how the band described it and reviewers described it.
