- The Chronicles Vlog Series (Season 6 Episode 2)
After spending the morning and early afternoon at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon event, we sat in traffic for what seemed like forever just so we could stop by Spoon Sports Type One in Suginami. Spoon was hosting a little gathering of their own titled the "Spoon Collection 2020" where they used their workshop facility to showcase some of their famed race cars from year's past. The following day, Yuta joined us at Tokyo Auto Salon to go over some of the more talked-about builds of this year's event and we provide some insight of our own-whether it be useful or completely ridiculous.

Appreciate you guys taking some time to pause and show the intricacies of the cars. Everyone else who's postage coverage spent more time pointing the camera at their face rather than what was on show.
Yasu's english is getting really good
Currently studying... Going to school for automotive/diesel and ive been binge watching all of your videos hours and hours.. I guess you could say im studying and learning about race cars, culture, etc.. Thank you for posting your journey. This is getting me through college. ALL OF THE MOTIVATION. Hope to meet you in the near future. Colorado native. ily Joey
THE GUY AT 22:08 WAS STRESSING TO TAKE A PICTURE 🤣
THANKS FOR DOCUMENTING EVERYTHING FOR US TO ENJOY 🤙🏽
Opera house started doing the carbon overlays many years ago now. The are vacuum forming to the body and say that there is an actual increase in stiffness. I would curious to know what bonding agent they are using. Why the shock towers though, not sure. But the areas that they focus on in dc5 and s2k are inherently weak. If you remember back to 2001-2002 Opera was doing incredible roll rages in dc5's that were barely noticeable. Their attention to detail, as a full builder myself, i truly appreciate. Thank you for this coverage Joey. I know im commenting a year after but as I mentioned before, us Jspek guys have been literally hiding in garages stuck in 1995-2004 era lol. I did not even know you were on youtube until recently. Guess its time for us to bring finish our recent project, bring it out, and be social again. Maybe I can convince my brother Slappy (Andrew M) to play again too.
Shock towers actually do flex especially with high frequency suspension systems, and racing tires. It’s similar to using a strut tower bar, without using the opposite side for bracing. Obviously that comes with some favorable differences.
i like how yuta is somewhat struggling to speak japanese to the guy and then....the guy starts speaking english
Opera performance did the carbon wrap on that eg.
It helps with rigidity since these areas are weak spots when braking, cornering and accelerating at high speeds.
Shout out to Yuta haven’t seen him here in while 😂!!!🤟🤟🤟🤟
Once again I love the vids much appreciated....
That BuiltByLegends EG had the chassis work done by Yasukichi Yamamoto at Opera Performance. It would be cool to see you feature his shop.
Love that Varis Supra and its livery. Recalls the Rothmans Porsche works team Porsche 956/962s - Le Mans winners in the 1980s. Very neat and race concept.
I’m surprised Yasu didn’t start that ek9 up and drive off with it 😂
japan vlogs r my fav
I don't know how i ended up here, but i'm so glad i did
Badass racers checking out a indoor function equals 15hp of coolness and COOKIES!!!!!!! Lol

They really need to hold any and all Spoon events in September since that is my annual visit time! Need a petition to Ichishima-sama.
And if I see one damn thumbs down...
Edit: this is sarcasm people...
@Sideways G that was sarcasm...lol. Guess i should have added that so there wouldn't be any head fly overs. Thumbs down comment was for the video itself.
New Intro got that 80s 90s Asian movie intro vibe lol
you and my buddy wearing the same pants at 19mins 🤣
Awesome great work as always.
Thanks so much!
It's so weird without music playing in the background. It's just nervous shuffling around Ichishima san
Where do you get your hoodies made? I have such a difficult time finding a place to get a design on a hoodie with quality work. Sorry a little off topic bud.
Why no coverage of Honda access s2k
good!.
The wife thought i was watching porn because it's 3am...🤔👁️👁️😅😴 and tried to play it off lol
What is your camera set up ?
Gosto muito de spoon...👌
Let's play a game: take a shot for every time you hear the word "Spoon"
Why they not lowering theirs cars 2-3"?
Say what you will the hatch looks better than the chick BMW version of the Supra they released. I like it minus the tron lights. SDJ was that old man from South Carolina that spit on muscle cars with fuel injection when they started to appear lmao
3rd wuah wuah wuah lmao
Joey. I have always enjoyed your content. For someone with your amount of access, who DOES NOT work on cars, you are really starting to put off an "Elitist" vibe that goes far beyond the charm of the lifestyle you are sharing with us. Sarcasm is cool (90s were long ago), but sometimes you seem like you want less of us to watch this channel. I appreciate the access, but everything you don't know about isn't automatically bad or useless, as you tend to portray. I know you work hard and don't have time to research everything going on online, but maybe think about jokes that reach more than your circle. Just my opinion, thanks again. (How you overlooked "restomod" on that spoon build is beyond me. Its like you'd just rather make fun of it. At Spoon... Honda guys....)
raceadvantage I get the car and how it’s a restomod. The carbon overlay is done by Opera Performance and it’ll have a Spoon engine and the car will be restored. I don’t think it’s lost on anyone or myself. The car is interesting, I can’t say that myself or the builders around me would agree with everything that’s being done but it was never intended to come off as me not caring about it. It’s also very unfortunate to emphasize that you assume I don’t work on cars. Just because I don’t currently have any projects or show anything I do doesn’t mean that I don’t have knowledge or ability. I also do my fair share of research as well. I do joke and my friends and I do have our inner jokes but I don’t really film to acquire followers or to gain any type of notoriety. I just create content and post it up and people can choose to watch it or not. I wouldn’t change how I go about doing things because this is just a little bit of my life that I choose to show the public. I’ve achieved a measure of “success”, if you can call it that, just by being who I am and doing things my way. I appreciate you enjoying the content and understand if you don’t. But you assuming my lack of understanding and knowledge, and the idea that I “DO NOT” work on cars is frankly, incorrect.
raceadvantage I mean, I could also be a RUclipsr who thinks they know what they are doing and putting out all types of incorrect information, posting up all the parts I get for free, and acting overly excited about everything and be really politically correct so I could gain 1 million followers or...I can just continue to do what I do, which is currently devoting a majority of my professional life to automotive media and sacrificing the resources to have a project car (and a house) so I can travel to show the less commonly seen.
Throw in the comments below if you know it's carbon reinforced or wrapped lol
Car porn FTW
Nfs
Get your buddy’s face off the camera and video the car, dam.
