My friend married a very toxic human yesterday. I mentioned pre- marital counseling & even offered to pay for them for 3 sessions but she did not take me up on the offer. They did not even do the counseling at her church. Why are ppl so averse to therapy? Engaged couples do not even sit with each other to communicate what their expectations & standards for a wife or husband is. Then they are surprised when they are disappointed that the person they married are nowhere near their expectations. I wish more churches will not marry you until you have counseling. Maybe then we will have less divorces & more christ centre marriages.
Thank you for having the strength and courage to speak. I pray you gain strength to minister again because your singing videos always kept me going. You are so strong & pray things continue to work out despite all the hurdles you have endured.
This was a beautiful video Cassie, honestly and ADHD is severely under diagnosed in black women/girls. A lot spend years “managing” until it hits a point and it’s overwhelming.
Thank you so much for being honest, vulnerable and transparent you did not need to share all of this with us. As someone who has ADHD and dyspraxia and got my official ADHD diagnosis in the last year at 30 years old I totally relate to everything you are saying. RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria) as part of ADHD is often not talked about enough, we as people with ADHD are often more sensitive to criticism or feelings of rejections cause through our lives with our ADHD we are more likely to experienced criticism I think I read something like 12 times as much then people without ADHD. We tend to be people pleaser more and because of that fear of rejection and our sensitivities it can become a self fulfilling prophecy. I can imagine then being with someone who is neurodivergent but who had many different characteristics and I am sure also trying to learn about himself it must of been hard balancing different personalities and emotions. Think it’s so important in any relationship to continue to learn about ourselves like you were saying I know I am constantly growing and evolving. I am so grateful for my recent ADHD a diagnosis cause it’s helped me learnt so much about my brain and myself. I would recommend in any relationship/marriage not only doing counselling together but also separately taking the time to learn yourself and why you do the things you do and where they come from. Look forward to more of your videos.

I can't even tell you how happy I am to see you back on RUclips. As always thank you for your vulnerability, it's something I have always loved and appreciated about you. I can only begin to imagine what you've been feeling, I too feel like God has had me in a space of having to look at myself, take accountability aswell get to no me. When you experience traumatic times it becomes easy to identify as them, but Sis that is not who God called you to be. It can really make you feel unwanted by your partner emotionally; needed constant reassurance and even seeking a lot of validation 😢 I’m speaking for myself btw; it’s different for everyone but I can 100% say my mental health affected my previous relationship

So Yere post whatever you want. If you could talk about questions to ask during the dating phase that would be great. I think the point about trying to be perfect that you made is something I’m trying to consciously not do but I can’t lie it’s hard not to want everything to be perfect when you are a perfectionist. However, I’m learning to just do what I can, be genuine and just be free Because I know God sees my heart and my intentions even if the result doesn’t pan out how I want

I think with being a perfectionist God always needs something to work with and constant trying to be perfect takes away from allowing God to be God we can strive for it but in life we won’t always get it right and that’s ok!

Just talking about divorce as a Christian woman plus, learning disabilities and neurological differences which is something people in the faith never talk about is definitely you educating people. But I have been reflecting about when people take a break, the relationship is rarely resumed, I guess if you take a break without a commitment to continue working on the marriage even when separated, the break would only make you want breakup, possibly because one or both parties have started envisioning life without their spouse.

I relate to this in so many ways; one being that I too married 'young' and separated early in my marriage and the other is that I struggle with mental health and I think it's a huge contributing factor to issues in relationships. I would love if more of us got together and shared how we are coping cz it really can be a struggle especially having a child. It can also be very empowering learning about who you were and who you are becoming. I am very interested in knowing more about your spiritual journey and relationship with the church cz it's definitely one I am still learning about

I can only begin to imagine what you've been feeling, I too feel like God has had me in a space of having to look at myself, take accountability aswell get to no me. When you experience traumatic times it becomes easy to identify as them, but Sis that is not who God called you to be. None of us are perfect, we will fail and fall several times over, all that matters is you get back up.

Wow; you definitely do not here people talk about how your ADHD can perfectly good relationships. It can really make you feel unwanted by your partner emotionally; needed constant reassurance and even seeking a lot of validation 😢 I’m speaking for myself btw; it’s different for everyone but I can 100% say my mental health affected my previous relationship

I think the point about trying to be perfect that you made is something I’m trying to consciously not do but I can’t lie it’s hard not to want everything to be perfect when you are a perfectionist. However, I’m learning to just do what I can, be genuine and just be free Because I know God sees my heart and my intentions even if the result doesn’t pan out how I want
Thank you I definitely will talk about some things I think you should ask during dating. I think with being a perfectionist God always needs something to work with and constant trying to be perfect takes away from allowing God to be God we can strive for it but in life we won’t always get it right and that’s ok!

You can literally do your ministry online. Just talking about divorce as a Christian woman plus, learning disabilities and neurological differences which is something people in the faith never talk about is definitely you educating people. Sorry to ask Cass. I am not being nosy but as a married woman it would be good if you can tough on a bit more on what support you would have wanted from the church vs what you maybe got that was difficult and made you leave.

But I have been reflecting about when people take a break, the relationship is rarely resumed, I guess if you take a break without a commitment to continue working on the marriage even when separated, the break would only make you want breakup, possibly because one or both parties have started envisioning life without their spouse.
I totally agree we are no longer together but I agree if you take a break it’s very hard to get back together after that!

I relate to this in so many ways; one being that I too married 'young' and separated early in my marriage and the other is that I struggle with mental health and I think it's a huge contributing factor to issues in relationships. I would love if more of us got together and shared how we are coping cz it really can be a struggle especially having a child. It can also be very empowering learning about who you were and who you are becoming.
I am very interested in knowing more about your spiritual journey and relationship with the church cz it's definitely one I am still learning about
