Hello, Grace. Wonderful!! I discovered you guys quite by accident while searching for Irish flute videos (I'm a flutist, y'see, and idolize Matt Molloy). Along the way, I stumbled across Aine's breathless and addictive "Inappropriate Dipstick" tin whistle solo. I'm glad I did! You're ALL very talented and accomplished musicians. Here's hoping you "make it big" soon. (And when you do, come see us in the States, willya?)
@BlackFolkAndPiano just to clarify, We know this tune as Dusty Windowsills, and the Wandering Minstrel as a jig in D. The mix up was simply a slip of the tongue.
hey.I play the whistle flute and the harp and the fiddle and the banjo.I 💜 🍀🎼.Ye are awesome. Ps.Has anyone heard of bríd mcgowan. She does irish dancing lilting plays the harp and the flute and is amazing at it.She is helping our music teacher for the fleadh ceoil.#TUMBLEWEED

Great playing. Nice lilt and really tasty variations. We've always called the last reel The Glen Allen or, more recently, The Kilmayley Reel.
@BlackFolkAndPiano just to clarify, We know this tune as Dusty Windowsills, and the Wandering Minstrel as a jig in D. The mix up was simply a slip of the tongue.

I think they made a typo on the last reel, the name is "Kilmaley", you'll find it with that name.

Fantastic set - listening to this one over and over. Grace - are you playing a b/c, and if so are your basses tuned to d/f over the c?

Cairdin, Michael Searson makes them, Moneygall, Co. Offaly

The accordionplayer, is her accordion diatonic? How is it tuned? =)
Are you referring to the cheeky smile? She was smiling at the bodhran player to join in playing!
@TumbleweedTrad Hey Grace and the rest of the band. Conor here originally from dublin livin over in Malta, Your music is brilliant! are u all from dublin or where abouts? you should get a gig down in malta for st.paddys! :) slainté
Grace, great Playing on the Box....Where are ye all from.
@TumbleweedTrad aaah ok! I thought it wasn't a mistake, because on TheSession . org they list this tune with both names ;)
thank you
how much?
what is the accordion model? and where can you buy?
Are there albums of Irish trad music like this that anyone recommends? Google hasn't been any help!
If you like the accordion bit... look up Tony MacMahon here on youtube he's a awesome box player and plays with others sometimes... also many others... Finbar Dwyer - Richard Dwyer - too many to name... I have several hundred songs on three playlists of all tradition music under my profile...
We used to call the jig Austin Barrett's jig when I was a wee lass....(?)
I'd say it was to signal moving on to the next tune.
brilliant stuff , do you guys have a cd out, Ray
Is there a download link for your music?
where can you get the notes for this?!?!
Oops! Sorry, it appears from your name that you were there at the time!
sorry-- misspelling of Cairdin
About 5k euro

Hi, Just looking at different options for an Irish Button Accordion. Besides that I love your music, what are you playing?
Cheers,
Mike
Mike neitzel Hi Mike, It's a Cairdín accordion, made by Michael Searson, Moneygall, County Offaly. Best wishes Grace.
if my accordion costed more than 50 i've never played o_O
Can you do My Maryanne after Corner House?
:
Damn she's Tony MacMahon, Bobby Gardiner level good. She sometimes goes a little bit fast though and needs to stretch all the important notes.
Nvm the fast way is actually good too its like instrumental lilting :)
Great music but not the Wandering Minstrel. : )
I hate when people clap to trad.... ruins it for me
Shit. I thought the accordian player was Edel Fox. Normally a concertina player.
Unless.......
C Mac Hi C Mac, nope that definitely our Grace alright! ;)
